Chapter 23 Five Million Dollar Ransom

Lillian walked back to the hospital with a meal in hand, pushing open the door to Jeffrey's ward. Laughter and chatter filled the air. Lyra and Jackson were both there.

As soon as Lyra saw Lillian, she waved her over. "Lillian, come here! Why are you only cooking for Jeffrey? Don't you love me anymore?" She pointed at the meal, pouting like a child.

Despite being in her eighties, Lyra acted like a kid fighting for candy.

Suddenly, Lillian turned her head and gagged. Lyra's eyes lit up, and she slapped Jackson's arm.

"Goodness! Is Lillian pregnant? Why didn't you tell me this great news?" Lyra exclaimed.

Jackson shook his head. "She's not pregnant."

Lyra's face darkened, and she grabbed Jackson's arm firmly.

"You may be successful in your career, but if you don't take care of you wife and have kids, you’re useless! You're never home and you neglect Lillian. What's the point of you?"

Jackson looked helpless. "Lillian and I are still young. There's no rush for kids."

"You're almost thirty, why no rush? I'm back this time to make sure you two have a child!" Lyra declared. "Tonight, you and Lillian will stay at the Frane Mansion and make a baby properly!"

"Alright, we'll follow your instructions," Jackson agreed.

"And you, Lillian?" Lyra asked.

Blushing, Lillian nodded. "I'll definitely come back to keep you company, Grandma."

Lillian also wanted to find a chance to talk to Lyra about studying abroad after the divorce.

That evening, Lillian left the Dream Dance Training Institution and spotted a familiar luxury car parked by the roadside.

Hurrying over, she opened the car door and got in, addressing Terry, "Drive, quickly."

Jackson was sitting beside her, looking up from his documents.

"Am I that unbearable to look at?" he asked.

Lillian nodded. "We're getting a divorce. I don't want any complications."

Jackson smiled faintly and handed her some documents. "Take these back. I don't agree to the divorce. Quit your part-time job and come back to the company. I'll overlook your recent rebellious behavior as if it never happened."

"I won't go back. I have dreams of my own! I can survive without the Frane family. I'm fine now!"

"Do you think being a dance teacher is fine? Even if you danced until you were exhausted, could you afford a necklace?" Jackson's gaze swept over her feet.

Actually, Jackson didn't need to worry about Lillian's survival. Lillian had a secret only Shirley knew. She ran an online account with six million followers under the name Light, where she composed and produced music. Many top hits from major artists were her work. Lillian had incredible talent in the arts, but she never focused on it. She was too well-protected, and composing was just a hobby.

"I want to dance! I can go without jewelry and leave the marriage with just the clothes on my back. Is that not allowed?" Lillian retorted.

Jackson didn't expect that even after all his efforts, Lillian was still set on getting a divorce.

He said coldly, "You've been living a luxurious life with the Frane family since you were eight years old. Do you want me to calculate that for you? Divorce is fine, but I don't do losing deals. Pay the five million dollars ransom fee before we talk again!"

Clutching her fists, Lillian stared in disbelief. "A five million dollar ransom fee? Jackson, you truly are a businessman, treating divorce like a transaction."

Jackson smiled faintly. "Just five million dollars. I don't need to sell my marriage."

Lillian was so angry she wanted to bite him, but Jackson anticipated her move and lifted her chin, pinching her cheeks.

"If you can't pay, then be a good Mrs. Frane for me," Jackson said indifferently.

With red eyes, Lillian looked at Jackson and finally asked the question that mattered most to her, "If you don't divorce, what about Wendy?"

Jackson replied, "That's not your concern!"

Lillian thought, ‘Does he intend for me to coexist with Wendy? Never have I seen such shamelessness in a man!’

As Lillian turned her head away, Jackson suddenly spoke, "Hand it over."

In disbelief, Lillian turned back, only to see Jackson reaching out to hold her hand.

Looking down, she saw he had put a ring on her ring finger.

It was the ring she had taken off, along with her earring, at the Peace Mansion.
