Chapter 842
Lillian's ears were ringing, and her head felt fuzzy.
When she came to, she heard Ruby's panicked voice.
"Lillian, are you okay? Let me see! Kenneth, how could you hit a kid?"
Gage and Jett also rushed over.
"Lillian, are you alright?"
"Your face is swollen. Come upstairs with me to get some ointment. Uncle's still mad, let's go。"
The three of them crowded around her, and Lillian felt overwhelmed, like a thousand flies buzzing around her.
Gage reached out to pull her, but who knew what he was planning to do once he got her upstairs?
Lillian didn't believe for a second that Gage and Jett being here was just a coincidence.
"Don't touch me!"
She glared at the three of them, and for a moment, Ruby, Gage, and Jett were stunned by her fierce demeanor.
With red-rimmed eyes, Lillian turned to Kenneth, "Are you angry out of shame? My mom's spirit is watching you all!"
With that, she yanked the tablecloth hard and stepped back.
With one strong pull, the entire table of dishes crashed to the floor, shattering bowls and spilling hot soup everywhere.
Lillian had anticipated this and stepped back quickly.
The Lawson family wasn't so lucky. Ruby, wearing a knee-length skirt, had her bare legs cut by the shards and scalded by the hot soup, causing her to scream in pain.
"It hurts!"
She wobbled, her face pale.
Kenneth rushed forward, concerned.
"Ruby!"
Seeing Ruby's legs bleeding and burned, Kenneth's face changed as he supported her and turned to strike Lillian again.
But this time, Lillian grabbed his arm firmly, blocking him.
"Ungrateful child!" Kenneth shouted angrily.
Lillian laughed, stood on tiptoe, and snatched his glasses off his nose, tossing them into the mess on the floor.
"Why wear glasses if you can't see the truth?"
She let go of Kenneth and turned to leave.
Kenneth, furious, shouted at her retreating, "Don't let her leave! Stop her!"
The servants moved to block her, and Lillian's heart raced. But Ruby grabbed Kenneth's arm.
"Forget it, my leg hurts. Help me rinse it with cold water."
Kenneth saw the blisters forming on Ruby's leg and, worried, said, "It's so serious, and you're still protecting her! Does she act like a junior at all? It's outrageous."
He bent down and picked Ruby up, rushing to the bathroom.
Gage and Jett hurried after them, while Lillian watched Kenneth carrying Ruby away and rolled her eyes.
Acting like a soap opera at their age, staying another second would make her sick.
She turned and quickly left the villa.
Getting into the car, Lillian didn't hesitate to drive off in Anouk's Porsche.
But Anouk chased after her, banging on the window.
"Lillian, why did you hurt my mom? Get out of the car! Apologize to her!"
Anouk's angry voice came through the window.
Lillian ignored her, flooring the gas and driving away.
In the rearview mirror, Anouk stomped her feet in anger until the car disappeared. Then, her face relaxed into a mocking smile.
Meanwhile, Jackson had arrived at Bell Pavilion.
He and York were discussing York's company's new technology, hoping to collaborate with Star Group's tech division.
After a couple of attempts, Jackson skillfully deflected the conversation.
York, growing anxious, heard Jackson suggest, "You know, the Kelly Group has been working on new tech in this field since last year. I heard Mr. Kelly booked a private room here today. Why not invite him over for a discussion? Maybe we can join forces."
York's eyes lit up, and he immediately asked the waiter where Ambrose's room was.
Finding out it was next door, York stood up.
"Mr. Frane, please wait. I'll check if it's convenient."
Unexpectedly, Jackson stood up too.
"Let's go together. It shows more respect."
York was overjoyed. He had worried Ambrose might refuse, but with Jackson, it would be perfect.
They went to the next room, and York knocked on the door.
Jackson, with his height advantage, looked over York's shoulder into the room.
Inside, Ambrose was sitting across from a woman, seemingly in conversation.
A screen blocked the woman's figure, only outlining her slender shape.
York quickly explained their purpose, and Ambrose glanced at York before focusing on Jackson.
"In that case, Mr. Barton and Mr. Frane, please join us."
York was delighted and looked at Jackson.
"Mr. Frane, do you mind?"
"Of course not. If Mr. Kelly doesn't mind, why should I?"
Jackson stepped into the room first, thinking the young woman was quite composed.
She hadn't moved at all. He wondered what her reaction would be upon seeing him.
But as Jackson rounded the screen and saw the woman, his smile vanished.
Indeed, a young, pretty woman sat across from Ambrose, but she wasn't Lillian.
Jackson looked at Ambrose, who raised an eyebrow with a faint smile.
Jackson raised his eyebrow, too. "Mr. Kelly, is this a date?"
Ambrose didn't confirm or deny, and Jackson felt a bit annoyed.
Had he known Ambrose was on a date, he would have arranged his engagement and wedding immediately, rather than interrupting.
Jackson turned to York, who was about to enter.
"Mr. Barton, I just remembered I have urgent business to attend to. Besides, it seems Mr. Kelly's situation isn't suitable for discussions."
York was speechless.
How could things change so quickly?
But before he could say more, Jackson nodded to Ambrose and left.
York hurried after him, calling out, "Mr. Frane."
Jackson slowed his pace and turned to York.
"Mr. Barton, contact Jamie Torres directly. Discuss the details with him."
Jamie was the CEO of Star Group's tech division. York, surprised by Jackson's sudden agreement, smiled and thanked him repeatedly.
Jackson had decided to collaborate with York, arranging the meeting and having York knock on Ambrose's door as an excuse.
Taking out his phone, Jackson called Lillian, but there was no response. His brow furrowed.
