Chapter 678
Gray turned slightly, his eyes filled with cold sarcasm. "I'm done with her. Why should I help? She wants to be someone's side piece and doesn't even hide it. Isn't she ashamed of making such a scene? And you expect me to claim her? No way, I'm not embarrassing myself like that!"
After Gray finished speaking, he pulled out his phone and checked it again.
Honestly, he'd been waiting for calls and messages these past couple of days. He thought, if Shirley came crying and begging for his help, he might just help her clean up the mess online.
But it had been two days, and they were about to miss the best time for damage control, yet Shirley hadn't contacted him.
She was so stubborn and heartless. So why he had to go out of his way to help her?
He wasn't Jackson, who was acting all weird after divorce.
Gray would rather die than look back, unless Shirley cried and begged him to.
Jackson shot Gray a cold look and sneered, "Are you stupid?"
With Shirley's personality, she was the type who'd love to take charge in a relationship. She definitely wouldn't stand being someone's mistress.
Gray downed a glass of wine and reached for another, annoyed. "Watch your mouth, Jackson. Why are you insulting me?"
Jackson pursed his lips, too lazy to deal with the foolish and annoying Gray.
But thinking about Shirley and Lillian's relationship, if Shirley really got exposed online and developed depression because of Gray, Jackson would at least have to bear half the blame.
Jackson impatiently reminded, "With the affair becoming known to the whole internet, does Lucy really want everyone to know she was cheated on?"
Obviously, someone was manipulating things behind the scenes to smear Shirley.
Gray retorted, "Of course someone is out to get Shirley. This kind of thing happens a lot in the entertainment industry. Who wants another person to come and take resources? But if she had a clean record, no one would have such dirt on her! Austin, an old and ugly guy with a big belly, could be her dad in another ten years. She really has no standards!"
Gray gritted his teeth and poured himself a full glass of wine, ready to down it in one go.
Jackson glanced at him sideways, easily detecting the jealousy in his tone.
Austin was only thirty-five, just a few years older than them. How could he be Shirley's dad in Gray's eyes?
As Gray tilted his head back, Jackson lifted his long leg again.
Gray ended up choking on the wine, spilling it all over himself.
He slammed the glass down and looked at Jackson irritably. "Jackson, you're going too far!"
Jackson chuckled lightly and decided to be blunt. He briefly explained how Shirley was being watched by the reporters bought off by Bianca in the parking lot.
Gray frowned tightly, but the next second he said, "Shirley brought this on herself. Bianca was wrong, but ultimately, it's Shirley's lack of discretion."
Gray couldn't help but think, 'I've just broken up with Shirley a couple of days ago and am still waiting for her to come back and ask for reconciliation.'
He even found an excuse to visit Shirley's film set, only to see Austin and Shirley laughing and hugging in the studio. He felt Shirley deserved what she got.
Especially since he had helped Shirley get the lead role in this film, he was furious! Jackson couldn't wrap his head around why Gray was so convinced that Shirley was Austin's mistress.
Jackson started to wonder if he'd ever been as clueless as Gray. He laughed at himself and decided to stop paying attention to Gray. He poured himself a drink, thinking that if Gray was this dumb, he might as well handle Shirley's situation himself.
But as soon as he stopped talking, Gray got all fidgety and moved closer to Jackson. "Jackson, why don't you continue?"
Jackson stayed silent, and Gray awkwardly insisted, "You're right not to do anything. I'm your friend. I've been cheated on, you should be on my side."
Jackson kicked him disdainfully, this time with more force than the previous two kicks.
Gray, completely unprepared, was kicked off the sofa and fell to the ground. He looked up in disbelief. "Jackson!"
Jackson sipped his drink. "Get your priorities straight. In this matter, I'm not on your side."
Gray's muddled brain finally understood that Jackson was siding with Shirley.
He angrily said, "Lilian's your ex-wife. Do you want to be on the same side as her? Has Ms. Kelly given you her approval?"
It was just mutual harm, he could do that too.
Jackson was sensitive to the term "ex-husband" today. If not, he wouldn't have been to the bar to drink. Hearing Gray mention it again, he felt his eyes turn red with anger.
Gray was a bit scared by his look. He couldn't beat Jackson.
As they were at a standoff, the door to the private room was suddenly pushed open. Mike, wearing a striking purple silk shirt, called out, "Jackson, Gray, your women are fighting downstairs."
"I don't have a woman," Gray retorted angrily.
He couldn't afford to offend Jackson, but he wasn't afraid of Mike.
Mike wasn't annoyed, just amused. "Lilian and Shirley. If Shirley isn't your woman, I'll call my men and tell them not to give her any special treatment."
Before Mike finished speaking, Jackson had already stormed out of the room, and Gray, still on the floor, cursed and quickly got up.
Downstairs in the large private room, ten minutes earlier.
Today was a friend's birthday, and Bianca and her friends were celebrating.
Her friend had just suggested that Bianca invite some young male actors from the company to join them when the door was violently kicked open.
Bianca and the others stopped talking and laughing, ready to get angry, but saw that it was Lucy with a few bodyguards. The atmosphere instantly became tense.
Bianca's face changed slightly. She glanced at Sarah, stood up, and greeted Lucy with a smile, surprised, "Hi, Lucy, what are you doing here? I heard about the online stuff these past two days. I really feel for you. Come, let's have fun together."
Bianca spoke with concern, reaching out to take Lucy's hand.
After all, the Ellis Family, and the Porter Family were partners. Bianca was always good at superficial pleasantries.
That was why Lucy had been fooled by Bianca. If she hadn't just watched the live broadcast, she would have still thought Bianca was a warm and caring person.
Before Bianca could touch Lucy's arm, Lucy forcefully pushed her away. "Get lost, don't disgust me!"
Bianca screamed and crashed into the large three-tiered birthday cake beside her, knocking it and its stand to the ground.
