Chapter 739
Jackson was texting Lillian on his phone.
He was a bit worried that Lillian might not wait for him and leave on her own.
[Five minutes at most, I'll be down soon.]
Lillian hadn't replied, and Jackson wasn't sure if she hadn't seen the message or what was going on.
Worried that the signal in the elevator was bad, he exited the chat and re-entered it with his long fingers.
Still nothing.
Jackson, not getting a reply, felt a bit uneasy and didn't really listen to what Ronnie was babbling about.
He just shot him a cold glance, "Annoying!"
Ronnie was startled, shrinking his neck in confusion.
Jackson's reaction was so strange.
At that moment, a notification sound came from the phone in the elevator, and Jackson immediately turned to look at his phone, his cold demeanor instantly softening.
Ronnie wiped the sweat from his forehead and discreetly took a step back.
He looked at Terry beside him with a bit more admiration.
He used to think Terry, the special assistant, was quite young and not very capable.
Now he felt that Terry was quite impressive to be Jackson's personal secretary for so long, given how unpredictable and moody Jackson was.
Ronnie gave Terry an awkward smile, and Terry nodded slightly, smiling as he said,
"Mr. Frane is just chatting with his future wife and doesn't like to be disturbed. No need to be so nervous, Ronnie."
Hearing this, Ronnie finally relaxed.
So that's what it was.
But the next second, Terry asked, "What were you saying about Ms. Price? Which Ms. Price?"
The company's annual meeting was Ronnie's responsibility.
Even Terry wouldn't pay attention to which company they were partnering with for the event, let alone Jackson.
And they certainly didn't know that Star was representing HorizonHive Media for the collaboration.
Ronnie was stunned by Terry's question.
He thought Terry had just told him that Jackson was chatting with Star. How could he now be asking which Ms. Price?
This didn't make sense. Was Terry hinting that he shouldn't call her Ms. Price but Mrs. Frane?
'Yes, that must be it!' Ronnie immediately felt he was too slow to catch on.
Terry was indeed better at pleasing Jackson's future wife.
At that moment, the elevator reached his floor, and Ronnie immediately smiled at Terry and said, "I understand, thank you for the hint, Terry."
He then bowed slightly to Jackson and, with his somewhat chubby body, exited the elevator.
"What did you hint to him?"
The elevator doors closed, and Jackson had just finished chatting with Lillian.
Lillian said she was waiting for him by the roadside outside the company, and Jackson felt incredibly light-hearted, clearly in the mood for a chat.
Terry, however, looked puzzled, "I have no idea."
Ronnie had only been promoted from a subsidiary earlier this year. Why was he acting so unpredictably?
Jackson had no interest in what was up with Ronnie. He looked at Terry and asked, "How do I look? Do I need to change my clothes?"
Jackson stretched his arms slightly. This was the first time Lillian had actively asked him out since she came back. He naturally took it seriously and wanted to look perfect.
Terry looked at Jackson and thought he looked great.
He immediately gave a thumbs up, "You look dashing and elegant, absolutely stunning. Mrs. Frane is waiting for you, so it's more important to hurry."
Jackson was very satisfied with Terry's answer and strode out as soon as the elevator doors opened.
Meanwhile, Lillian quickly exited the Star Group building, with Doris following behind her, eagerly asking, "Lillian, sorry about bumping into you at the elevator door earlier. I didn't mean to. But do you know that man we just saw?
"He didn't look like an ordinary person. Is he a high-ranking official at Star Group? What's your relationship with him?"
She had rushed out of the elevator first, and when she turned back, she saw Lillian had bumped into someone.
And that man, with his looks and demeanor, was unforgettable. Doris felt she had seen him somewhere before.
"Just someone I know." Lillian didn't want to say much to Doris and replied indifferently.
Doris was not satisfied with her answer and continued to probe. "We came to discuss a collaboration but didn't even get a chance to talk. We'll be laughed at when we go back. If that man is a high-ranking official at Star Group, Lillian, you should ask him for help. Maybe there's still a chance."
Lillian replied to Jackson's message and then looked up at Doris. "I'll find a way to fight for the collaboration."
But Lillian didn't want to directly trouble Jackson. She wanted to handle her own work and issues herself.
She wanted to distance herself from Jackson. There was no way she would rely on him and use his connections.
However, Doris snorted at her response.
"What can you do? Didn't you see Ronnie's attitude? It's clear they've already decided on HorizonHive Media. Our proposal probably went straight to the trash. If you hadn't offended Star, we wouldn't have wasted this trip!"
Doris was upset. Lillian had only been in the department for two days, but Thalia had let her handle this project alone and even asked Doris to assist her.
Doris felt she was the senior employee and deserved more respect from Lillian, but she didn't get it. Instead, Lillian offended Star, causing her embarrassment.
Lillian thought about what had happened inside. It was indeed Star targeting her that led to them being escorted out by security.
She said to Doris, "I'm sorry about what happened. I'll find a way to talk to Ronnie again."
Doris rolled her eyes, "I'll be watching. It's after work now, so I'm leaving. Since you're so capable, you shouldn't need my help for such a small matter."
In the afternoon, Doris had offered to drive Lillian to Star Group.
After speaking, Doris didn't wait for Lillian and left first.
Lillian didn't mind. She walked to the roadside to wait for Jackson and made a call to give some instructions.
Meanwhile, Jackson signed two urgent documents and quickly headed to the parking lot with Terry.
Just as they reached their designated parking spot and were about to get in the car, they heard the sound of high heels approaching.
Jackson paused with his hand on the car handle, a slight smile on his lips.
"Weren't you supposed to wait by the roadside? Why..."
Jackson turned around with a smile, but before he could see clearly, the approaching woman stumbled and fell towards him.
