Chapter 608
Lillian froze for a sec, then it hit her what was going down. She spun around and shoved the person behind her, yelling, "I told you, hands off! Keep your fake concern to yourself!"
When she needed it, his care and love were always MIA.
Concern after the fact? Totally useless.
"Lillian, chill, it's me."
Lillian's vision was all blurry. Hearing the dude's voice, she wiped her tears and looked up.
The guy standing a bit away was tall and classy, rocking silver-framed glasses, looking all concerned.
It wasn't Jackson, but Barry.
Lillian was stunned, then quickly turned her face away, feeling kinda embarrassed. She wanted to wipe her face, but Barry stepped up and handed her a tissue.
Lillian paused, took the tissue, and quickly wiped her face, head down. Barry sensed her embarrassment and spoke first, "Lillian, I'm sorry. I just finished two surgeries and only now found out what happened."
He sighed silently and reached out his hand. "Let me help you back to your room."
Lillian looked up, her expression back to normal, and she shook her head with a smile.
"It's okay; I can walk by myself."
But as she took a step, her legs gave way, and she almost face-planted.
Barry quickly caught her, and right then, a familiar female voice chimed in.
"Lillian? What are you guys doing?"
Hearing this voice, Lillian's eyes filled with disgust.
She looked up and saw Star.
Star was rocking a red dress, with a black scarf around her neck, makeup on point, and a servant standing a few steps away.
Her gaze lingered on Lillian and Barry with a look that screamed judgment, like she was accusing Lillian of something shady.
Lillian looked away, totally indifferent. "Barry, let's go."
But Star blocked their way. "Lillian, don't be in such a rush. Aren't you gonna introduce this gentleman?"
"No need."
Lillian said coldly, moving to the side.
But Star stepped in front of her again, blocking her path.
"Lillian, you probably don't know that Wendy also had a baby that night. She had a C-section and gave birth to a preemie boy. He was transferred here and is in the incubator. Let me take you to see him."
As Star spoke, she grabbed Lillian's hand, ignoring her reaction.
Lillian had previously asked Jackson if Wendy had given birth.
Jackson had told her that Wendy had successfully given birth to a baby boy.
Thinking of her Taylor, who was also a baby boy but not as lucky, Lillian felt a sharp pain in her heart.
The pain turned into hatred, and she forcefully shook off Star's hand.
"Get lost!"
Star gasped in surprise, stepping back two steps, holding onto the wall, her eyes red as she looked at Lillian in shock.
"Lillian, I meant well. You lost your baby, seeing other babies might be a comfort. Or are you still mad about Jackson going to Nimbus City that night?
"I'm sorry, I was the one who called Jackson and insisted he go. If I had known you would have such an accident, I definitely would have..."
Lillian's emotions were at their breaking point.
Listening to Star's endless chatter felt like being swarmed by a thousand flies. She used all her strength and slapped Star.
A crisp slap echoed through the hallway.
