Chapter 728

"Logan!" Star screamed.

Lillian also exclaimed.

Feeling Logan slip from her hands, Lillian's heart seemed to stop.

Lillian closed her eyes, but the sound of crying did not follow.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Jackson bending down on one knee, catching the falling Logan just in time.

Logan, unaware of the danger, seemed to find the tossing game fun and suddenly grinned in Jackson's arms.

That innocent laughter made Lillian's heart settle back into her chest, but also filled her with rage.

Star, however, stared at Lillian and accused her, "Lillian, I know you don't like Logan, but you can't just throw him on the ground on purpose. If Jackson hadn't reacted in time, Logan could have... "

Before Star could finish her sentence, Lillian suddenly raised her hand, grabbed Star's hair, and pushed her against the wall.

Star's face was pressed against the wall as she screamed and struggled, "Let go! Lillian, what are you doing? This is a hospital! Jackson, help me!"

Seeing Star still struggling, Lillian grabbed her head and slammed it against the wall again.

"Ms. Price!" Celine, seeing Star injured, reached out to pull Lillian away.

But as soon as she took a step, Jackson's piercing gaze swept over her.

Celine's hand, which was reaching for Lillian, trembled and retracted.

Lillian let go of the pained Star, who immediately clutched her head and leaned against the wall, barely able to stand.

Lillian stared at her and sneered coldly. "Star, you do know this is a hospital and not a theater, right? Your performance is quite something. It's fine if you love acting, but don't joke about Logan's safety!"

Star's forehead was red from the impact, her face pale, eyes filled with tears, and she looked shocked and aggrieved. "Jackson, Logan is so important to our family. I'm his aunt; how could I possibly throw him on purpose? How could Lillian accuse me like this!"

Star cried, and as she wiped her tears, she gave Celine a look.

Celine gritted her teeth and pointed at Lillian. "Mr. Frane, Ms. Price cares deeply for Logan. I saw it clearly just now; it was Ms. Kelly who deliberately let go of Ms. Price's hand, causing Logan to fall."

Star bit her lip and glared at Celine. "Celine, stop! Lillian probably didn't do it on purpose either. It's good that Logan is okay."

Star said understandingly, walking over to Jackson and looking closely at Logan in his arms.

Lillian watched the two standing together, looking like a family.

It was inexplicably piercing.

Moreover, both Star and Celine said she deliberately tried to drop Logan. Compared to them, she indeed had more motive to do that.

Lillian thought Jackson's silence meant he believed them.

Her heart sank, but she didn't want to argue.

Without a word, she turned to leave, but the next second, a familiar and strong grip held her wrist.

Lillian turned back to see Jackson's focused and gentle eyes. "Sweetie, go call the doctor. Logan's IV needle came out."

Lillian was stunned, but Jackson's words showed he trusted her more.

Lillian's heart tightened, but she didn't have time to dwell on it.

She looked at Logan's head and realized the needle had come out when he fell.

But because Logan hadn't cried or fussed, instead laughing, she had overlooked it.

Feeling a pang of guilt, Lillian turned to press the call button.

Jackson, holding Logan, looked coldly at Star. "Is this what you call caring for Logan? Since you came in, have you asked about Logan's condition even once?"

Star was startled, opening her mouth to explain, but Jackson's sharp gaze silenced her.

Jackson took a few steps towards Lillian, distancing himself from Star, and said coldly again, "I'm not blind. Stop your pathetic tricks!"

"No, Jackson, I really..." Star, panicked, took a step forward to get closer.

Jackson's eyes narrowed. "Don't come any closer! You're reeking."

Star had just come from a bar, having only had one drink before getting Celine's call.

She instinctively lowered her head and sniffed. Though there was a bit of alcohol smell, it wasn't enough to be overwhelming.

But Jackson's look of disdain and his retreating stance made her feel like a drunkard.

Logan, in Jackson's arms, seemed to understand his words, glanced at Star, then turned his head and buried it in Jackson's chest.

Jackson stiffened. It was his first time holding such a small, soft baby.

When he caught Logan and Logan smiled at him, he was momentarily dazed.

That was why he reacted a bit late, almost making Lillian misunderstand and leave.

Just as Star was about to crumble under Jackson's icy gaze, the nurse arrived. Lillian urgently explained the situation, "Nurse, Logan's needle came out accidentally. Please help."

Star breathed a sigh of relief and quietly stepped aside.

Logan was very well-behaved, not crying at all as the nurse reinserted the needle, his eyes constantly shifting between Lillian and Jackson.

He even waved his little hand at Lillian, babbling as if calling for a hug.

Although he was very cute, Lillian didn't step forward or hold him again.

After the nurse left, Lillian picked up her bag.

Jackson clearly didn't intend to stay alone with Star either. He placed Logan on the bed and stood up.

Seeing this, Star, with red eyes, said.

Seeing this, Star, with red eyes, said, "Jackson, Logan's fever has gone down, but I'm afraid it might come back. Can you stay with us?"

Jackson frowned, but before he could refuse, Lillian spoke to him, "You stay and take care of Logan."

Star's behavior made Lillian uneasy.

She felt a strange softness towards Logan.

Jackson hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, go home and rest early."

Lillian said no more and turned to leave.

Behind her, Logan on the bed seemed to want her to stay, suddenly kicking his legs and crying.

Lillian paused but didn't turn back.

She felt a strong connection with Logan, but he was a Price. If her kis was really harmed by the Price Family, Lillian couldn't invest too much emotion no matter how Logan was innocent.

Jackson gently patted Logan, watching Lillian's disappearing figure.

Strangely, he felt a sense of desolation, as if Lillian was abandoning him and their kid.

"Jackson, look, Logan stops crying when you pat him. He really seems to like you a lot." Star's soft, surprised voice interrupted Jackson's thoughts.
