Chapter 333 Height Mark
"Then what kind of treasure am I?" Lyra asked joyfully.
"Grandma, you're the real treasure of our family," Lillian said while playfully shaking Lyra's arm.
Lyra and Lillian had a childish conversation and were both very happy.
At that moment, the financial news started to play on TV.
It was the joint press conference of Star Group and Star Tech under the Price Group.
The camera moved from the crowded press room to the entrance, where the impeccably dressed Jackson walked in.
Flashbulbs went off like crazy, and the atmosphere was solemn.
Leading the group was Jackson in a dark suit with a tie, tall and slender, exuding a cold and powerful air.
The young and handsome Jackson stood out among the middle-aged men, becoming the focal point of the crowd. His aura was incredibly commanding, palpable even through the screen.
Lillian stopped laughing and focused on the TV.
She watched Jackson take his seat with grace and shake hands with people.
She watched him face the media with composure, speak eloquently, and respond to reporters' questions concisely and pointedly, easily commanding the room.
Lillian's eyes brimmed with admiration.
She felt that she wasn't just attracted to his looks but probably admired power as well.
Even though she was still angry, seeing him made her heart race again.
She thought to herself, 'I'm truly hopeless.'
Lillian gently touched her belly and muttered, "Taylor, look at Daddy. He is amazing, Isn't it?"
At this press conference, Star Group and Star Tech announced their deep cooperation plan for the next three years, along with two internationally leading scientific achievements.
Even though Lillian knew little about finance, she could imagine that after the press conference, with Star Group backing the Price Group, the Price Group's stock price would skyrocket.
Jackson was truly loyal and righteous to Henry and the Price family.
"Lillian, I just found out that the child in Wendy's belly is actually from the Price family. Jackson has been quiet since he was a child and feels guilty towards the Price family. He even kept it from me. Please don't hold it against him." Lyra held Lillian's hand and patted it.
As she thought about the Price family, Lyra's expression hardened.
Lillian frowned slightly and asked, "Grandma, did something else happen between Jackson and the Price family?"
She thought, 'What did it mean that Jackson feels guilty toward the Price family? Are there many things I don't know?'
Lyra was taken aback and said, "Some things are better left for Jackson to tell you when he's ready."
It was unclear whether Lyra didn't want to say or was deliberately hiding something.
After saying this, Lyra said she was tired and asked Peggy to help her back to her room.
Lillian felt uneasy because Lyra rarely kept things so secretive.
She froze there for a moment, then went upstairs to change into her dance clothes and went to the dance room to practice.
Since becoming pregnant, she still danced every day.
She just reduced the duration of her practice, took more breaks, and avoided intense dance moves.
Taylor was very well-behaved and supportive.
It was as if she silently understood and supported Lillian, and Lillian didn't feel any physical strain.
After an hour and a half, Lillian came out of the dance room, took a shower, rested for a while, and then went to the yard.
She wanted to see Jackson sooner because the questions weighing on her mind made her uncomfortable.
Lillian walked around the yard and saw a pavilion not far from the gate.
She went to the pavilion and sat down, from where she could see the gate.
However, her attention was drawn to the red wooden pillar in the middle of the pavilion. She stood up and walked over.
Her fingers touched the various height marks on the red pillar, and a smile spread from her eyes.
"Mrs. Frane, when you first came to the Frane family, you were still a little girl. Mr. Frane was always worried that you wouldn't grow tall." Peggy's voice came from behind, and Lillian turned around to see Peggy coming in with a fruit platter.
Peggy was also looking at the marks on the pillar.
Those marks were Lillian's height each year.
Each one was carved by Jackson himself from when she was 8 to 17, with nine marks in total.
The mark when she was 18 was still missing.
Lillian smiled and said, "Peggy, could you bring me a knife?"
She wanted Jackson to add that final mark.
Peggy nodded and was about to leave when Lillian walked around the pillar a couple of steps, pointed to two other rows of height marks, and asked, "This row is Jackson's height growth, but who does the shorter row belong to?"
"The shorter one?" Peggy suddenly slapped her forehead and said, "I almost forgot that the soup in the kitchen is almost ready. Mrs. Frane, please wait a moment. I'll bring the knife later."
Peggy quickly turned and left.
Lillian watched her back, feeling that she was in a hurry as if avoiding something.
Her gaze returned to the two rows of marks on the pillar.
She thought, 'Who was recording their height alongside Jackson? Could it be Jenny?'
Lillian was lost in thought when her phone rang.
She eagerly swiped the screen.
It was a text message from an unknown number.
Unknown sender: [Are you waiting for Jackson to come home and accompany you? Unfortunately, he won't be coming back because he has someone more important to be with. I know you don't believe it, but do you dare to come to Serenity Haven Manor and see for yourself?]
