Chapter 393 Expectation
Lillian hurriedly hugged his neck and asked, "Am I going, too?"
Jackson had brought Lillian out alone today, without Harry and Aiden, and he wasn't comfortable leaving her here by herself.
He nodded. "When we get to the hospital, you can wait in the car."
He quickly placed Lillian in the front passenger seat. Knowing he was in a hurry, Lillian obediently nodded and fastened her seatbelt.
She then turned to ask Adara, "Is Jasmine here by herself?"
Adara replied, "It's okay. Jasmine is asleep. The nanny will be back from grocery shopping soon and will take care of her."
Lillian nodded and glanced at Jackson again as she turned back.
Clearly, even when pretending to be Star, Jackson took good care of Adara.
Lillian wondered if she was being too sensitive, but she still felt a bit uncomfortable.
Serenity Haven Manor was close to the hospital, and within a few minutes, the car was parked outside the hospital.
Before getting out, Jackson quickly said to Lillian, "Just wait here obediently."
The doctor had advised Lillian to reduce her recent activities, and Jackson clearly couldn't attend to her now.
Lillian nodded, watching Jackson and Adara get out of the car and quickly enter the inpatient building.
Lillian took out her phone, intending to watch some dance videos, but she couldn't focus.
She felt uneasy and noticed Jackson's phone left on the center console.
After hesitating, Lillian took Jackson's phone and got out of the car.
She slowly went upstairs and arrived outside Susan's hospital room.
The door was half-open, and there were many doctors and nurses inside, looking very serious.
Standing outside the crowd, Lillian saw Susan lying on the bed, holding Jackson's hand with one hand and Adara's with the other, struggling to speak, "Jackson."
Jackson replied, "Susan, go ahead."
Susan looked very pale as she said, "Jackson, this time, on the operating, I might not make it."
Jackson held Susan's hand back, his voice calm and soothing. "You will be fine. Your birthday is coming up soon, and I've already ordered the cake and will be waiting for you to get out of the hospital so we can celebrate together."
Susan shook her head, gasping for breath. "I know my situation. Jackson, there's something you must promise me. Otherwise, I won't have the surgery!"
Jackson said softly, "Tell me. I promise."
A smile appeared on Susan's face as she forcefully placed Adara's hand into Jackson's, saying, "Star has suffered a lot outside. If I'm gone, there will be only Dominic to protect her in the Price family. However, Dominic is old and not in good health, so..."
Susan struggled to speak, gasping.
Jackson understood her meaning and nodded. "Susan, I understand. I will take good care of Star. As long as I'm here, I won't let her suffer or be bullied."
However, Susan shook her head and said, "No! I want you to fulfill your promise and marry Star. Only then can you take care of her for a lifetime! Only then can I be at ease."
Susan's words came out intermittently, and Lillian clenched the phone tightly, her body trembling.
She couldn't believe her eyes, biting her lip hard.
Lillian thought to herself, 'Fulfills the promise? Is Wendy's claim about Jackson and Star's childhood promise true? How could I have forgotten about this? No wonder I always feel that Susan doesn't like me. It's not just my imagination. Susan probably thinks I have taken Star's place. No matter what, Jackson and I have been married for two years, and we even have Taylor. How could Susan make such an unreasonable request? Although the Price family is pitiful and Jackson does owe them, Susan is going too far. Will Jackson agree? No, I believe he won't.'
Lillian slowly clenched her hands, the phone's edges digging into her palms.
She silently screamed in her heart, 'Jackson, don't agree with Susan! Don't break my heart!'
