Chapter 617
She was always so full of life and sweet, how the heck did she end up as paranoid as Daisy?
She just hadn't gotten over losing Taylor yet.
He just wanted to help her through this rough patch, no strings attached.
"No way, Grandma! You're reading too much into it. She won't. Postpartum depression needs love and support, and I'm gonna be there for her.
"She's cool with staying here. She fell asleep. If you don't believe me, wait till she wakes up and ask her yourself."
"No chance! You bring Lilian back, or I'm not leaving!"
Lyra threatened, but Jackson hung up on her in a heartbeat.
Lyra's face went pale, and Peggy rushed to comfort her, helping her lie down on the hospital bed.
"It's too late now. What's the point of being stubborn?"
Penthouse hospital room.
Dominic was working out by the floor-to-ceiling window, while Star was on the nearby sofa, tilting her head and putting ointment on her neck.
The marks from Jackson's grip were still there, probably from broken capillaries, making it sting when she applied the ointment.
"Dad, Jackson treated me so harshly for Lillian. He's starting to hate us. Will he really still want to marry me?"
She put down the mirror and looked at Dominic.
Dominic chuckled and said, "He just lost a kid, so it's normal for his anger to spike. Men are selfish and fickle. They can handle a woman's drama for a bit, but not forever. Once he's totally done with Lillian, you can be all sweet and understanding, filling his emotional void, reminding him of the good old days, and eventually, he'll fall for you."
Star felt a thrill and couldn't help but smile.
Dominic glanced over with disdain and said, "Have you really fallen for him?"
Star turned back, meeting Dominic's intense gaze, her face pale, and shook her head.
"No way, Dad. I always remember he caused Henry and Mom's deaths! How could someone so awful deserve happiness?"
Dominic stared at Star without a word. Just then, the hospital room door swung open.
The attending doctor, Curtis, walked in with others, and when Dominic smiled and asked, the doctor said, "Mr. Price, Ms. Price, please proceed with the discharge procedures and leave the hospital immediately."
"What do you mean?" Star stood up.
"It means Mr. Price's condition is good enough for discharge, and there's no need to stay. As for the Price family's baby, heart surgery is urgently needed. But our expert, Daxton, is abroad on an exchange program and won't be back soon. For timely treatment, please transfer to another hospital ASAP."
After saying this, Curtis turned and left, showing a completely different attitude from before.
Not to mention Dominic's condition, Wendy's premature baby really did have an underdeveloped heart, needing constant monitoring and treatment in an incubator.
Daxton went abroad right when the baby needed treatment—what a coincidence!
This was ridiculous; Star instantly realized they just wanted to blatantly kick them out!
And this hospital was the best private hospital in Miracalia, where the patients were either rich or noble.
Today, the Price family was being kicked out, and tomorrow the whole of Miracalia would laugh at the Price family, knowing that the Price family had fallen out with the Frane family.
She wouldn't let that happen!
Star anxiously chased after Curtis and asked, "Dr. Howard, is this Jackson's idea? This is disrespecting our lives, we can file a complaint!"
"Ms. Price, feel free."
Curtis walked away quickly without even turning his head.
Meanwhile, the nurses had already started packing up, forcibly clearing the room.
Star was furious and threw a fit, but half an hour later, she and Dominic were still embarrassingly kicked out of the hospital.
