Chapter 258 She Won't Marry Anyone Else
Jackson was frustrated. Lyra was his grandmother, but despite the fact that he and Lillian were not officially divorced, she did not help them reconcile. Instead, she wanted to arrange for someone to take his wife away.
"Grandma, you're amazing! Your connections are so wide. If you vouch for this young man, he must be really excellent. Of course, I'd love to meet him," Lillian said with a smile, nodding eagerly. She then asked Lyra excitedly, "Do you have a photo?"
Seeing her look as if she couldn't wait to go on a date, Jackson felt something stuck in his heart. His handsome face turned sullen.
Lyra nodded and said, "Yes! I left my phone at home. I'll show you the photo when we get back. Lillian, do you prefer polite boys or the playful? By the way, I've heard there's a type of mature and steady boy who takes good care of girls. That seems nice, too. He can take good care of you..."
Jackson interjected jealously, "Who could take better care of her than me? I practically raised her."
Lyra scoffed, "You only look like a father, but you're an irresponsible one. Now, you're only fit to be the father of Wendy's baby. Get lost."
She then turned to Lillian and whispered, "I'm talking about warm and mature boys. As for those cold, serious, unromantic, and cynical types who keep their distance, forget about them. They're too exhausting to deal with!"
When Lillian listened, she was both surprised and amused, wondering where Lyra had picked up so many trendy terms. She noddedand said, "I'll listen to you, Grandma."
Behind them, Jackson's temperature seemed to drop.
On the way back in the car, Lyra enthusiastically discussed the date with Lillian, even emphasizing two men and revealing their full names. They were from noble families with long histories in Miracalia, who Jackson had heard before.
As Jackson drove, he watched the two women become more and more excited in their discussion. Suddenly, he spoke coldly, "Have you two ever heard that you should never offend the driver?"
Lyra looked up and snorted, "Do you still have the nerve to be angry? Do you dare to threaten me? Show me what you can do. Crash the car if you dare."
She thought Jackson should have been furious by now.
Jackson sensed the underlying meaning and felt a sharp pain in his heart again.
Lyra turned to Lillian and said, "How dare he threaten us? Lillian, divorcing him is the wisest decision you've ever made. I fully support you now! Just wait. I'll show you the photos when we get back!"
Jackson was completely exasperated. He picked up the phone from the center console and sent a message.
When they came back to the Frane family home, Jackson helped Lyra to her room, and she began searching for her phone.
"That's strange. I remember leaving my phone on the bedside table. Where could it be? Jackson, call my phone for me," Lyra urged.
Jackson frowned slightly as he asked, "Grandma, are you really planning to find Lillian a new partner?"
Lyra smiled and replied, "Yes, I'm not joking."
Suddenly, Lyra sensed something was off. She turned around and glared at Jackson, asking, "Wait. I left my phone on the bedside table. Did you have someone hide it?"
Jackson didn't deny it and simply said, "Grandma, you should stop trying. She won't marry anyone else but me!"
Lillian, who had gone to the kitchen to make Lyra a cup of coffee, arrived at the door just in time to hear Jackson's resolute statement. Her hand, holding the tray, paused, and she gripped it a little tighter.
