Chapter 286 Why Are You Crying?
Lillian increasingly felt that Terry was hiding something, asking, "What exactly is going on? Does this have something to do with me so you won't tell me?"
Terry looked troubled, then gritted his teeth and nodded. "Mrs. Frane, do you remember Sean?"
Of course, Lillian remembered. Sean had attempted to assault her, and she had injured him. Later, he got what he deserved. He was castrated in the hospital as an act of revenge, and it even made the news.
At the time, she had seen the news and called Jackson to probe if he had arranged it.
Jackson had acted as if he knew nothing about it, so she hadn't thought much more.
Now, as she heard Terry suddenly bring up Sean again, Lillian's already pale face became even more anxious.
She asked in a trembling voice, "Did Jackson really do that to Sean? What is this crazy woman's relationship with Sean?"
Terry sighed and said, "To be honest, Sean committed suicide in prison last month. The woman who stabbed Mr. Frane is Sean's mother, Deborah. Deborah has only one child, Sean. After Sean's incident, because of his vile actions, the Morris family's reputation was also affected, leading to a significant decline in their business. Sean's father divorced Deborah, married his mistress, and even brought the mistress's son into the family. Deborah was deeply affected, and when she was diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer a few days ago, she knew she wouldn't survive. So, she decided to risk her life to avenge Sean..."
Lillian's hands twisted together tightly as she listened. Her body felt weak as if all strength had been drained from her, and she leaned back against the chair.
She hadn't expected that Jackson had arranged for what happened to Sean. And now, he was facing such a disaster because of it.
Sean had brought it upon himself.
"It's my fault, all because of me," Lillian whispered, tears welling up in her eyes.
Seeing her like this, Terry said angrily, "Mrs. Frane, don't think that way. Mr. Frane wouldn't want you to think that way, either. You are the victim, not the perpetrator. It was Deborah who raised a despicable son who hurt so many girls and families. Sean was sentenced because he deserved it. Deborah didn't reflect on her failure to educate her son properly and instead sought revenge on Mr. Frane. It's too much!"
However, Lillian didn't hear a word of what Terry said.
She was overwhelmed with guilt and worry. She thought about the many curses she had uttered during her previous conversation with Jackson.
Her guilt and sorrow wrapped around her heart like vines, making it hard for her to breathe.
A sharp pain came from her belly, and Lillian bent slightly, pressing her hand against it.
She thought, 'Taylor, are you blaming Mommy? Are you worried about Daddy, too?'
When they arrived at the hospital, Lillian followed Terry to the ICU door. Before they could even ask the doctor if they could go in, a doctor and nurse came out with heavy expressions.
Lillian immediately stepped forward and grabbed the doctor's arm, asking, "Doctor, is the patient out of danger?"
"Are you family? Why did you come so late?" The doctor frowned and then sighed. "I'm sorry, we did our best. The patient just passed away. He went peacefully. You can go in and say your goodbyes."
Lillian felt dizzy and let go of the doctor's arm.
As the doctor and nurses left, Lillian saw the scene in the ward.
The person lying on the bed was covered with a white sheet from head to toe, lying there motionless.
Lillian wanted to step forward, but her body had no strength at all.
"No, I don't believe it. This can't be true," Lillian cried as she said.
She thought, 'I haven't even told Jackson that we are going to have a baby. I haven't told him how much I really love him. How can everything end like this?'
Lillian stiffly lifted one foot, but it felt like stepping on clouds. Her body swayed, and she began to faint.
However, a familiar strength caught her in an embrace. Jackson's large hand covered her eyes, and his hoarse voice sounded above her head. "Why are you crying?"
