Chapter 695

The next second, Shirley acted like she hadn't even seen Gray. She looked away and tugged at Ambrose's suit collar, like she was urging him to get a move on.

Ambrose also looked away, wrapped his arm around Shirley's shoulder, and personally escorted her to the passenger seat.

Then he walked around the front of the car, got into the driver's seat, and the car started moving forward as the gate slowly opened.

Gray stood in front of the gate, blocking the way, glaring angrily at Shirley in the car.

He looked like a husband catching his wife cheating. Shirley rolled down the window and waved at him.

Seeing that she clearly wanted to talk, Gray's face softened a bit. He thought, 'If Shirley explains everything properly and says some nice things to me, I might be able to forgive her.'

He stepped towards the passenger side, intending to open the car door and drag Shirley out.

Suddenly, a slender object with a streak of light flew out from the car and hit Gray's face.

Before Gray could see what it was, the slowly moving car suddenly sped up, leaving Gray behind in an instant.

Gray stared at the car's tail, shouting, "Shirley!"

Shirley's hand, resting on the car window, raised her middle finger at him defiantly before pulling it back completely.

When the car disappeared, Gray looked down in anger and saw that what had been thrown out was a platinum diamond bracelet.

It was the only gift he had ever given Shirley, and she had discarded it at his feet like trash.

Gray's forehead veins bulged, and he stomped on the bracelet twice in frustration before turning and leaving.

Forty minutes later, Gray, full of anger, pushed open the door to Jackson's office, saying, "Jackson, you need to talk to Lillian. She wants to take revenge on you, fine, but why is she taking it out on me? Why is she introducing such a random, lousy guy to Shirley?"

Jackson looked up from the documents in front of him, his expression cold and stern.

Terry, standing to the side, looked at Gray like he was an idiot.

Gray was really something. If Lillian could listen to Jackson, he wouldn't be sitting here, studying his rival's information.

Moreover, Gray's words about revenge and complaints about Lillian hit Jackson's sore spot precisely.

Sure enough, Jackson's thin lips parted, and his words were cold and laced with a warning, "Gray, watch your language, or I'll sew your mouth shut right now."

Gray's face darkened further, filled with hurt and sadness. He was already feeling so miserable, and Jackson not only didn't comfort him but treated him like this.

But when Gray's gaze fell on the documents by Jackson's hand, his eyes sharpened.

Because he saw a face he absolutely despised—wasn't it that random, lousy guy Ambrose?

"Let me see that!" Gray reached out and grabbed the documents, carefully flipping through them.

But the more Gray read, the worse his expression became. "Where did you get this information? The content here can't be true, can it?"

Ambrose had a face that deceived foolish women, looking both pretentious and sinister. How could he be so outstanding?

"The guy you just mentioned, is it him?" Jackson asked, raising an eyebrow at Gray's agitated state.

Gray nodded and asked, puzzled, "Who else could it be? Jackson, why do you have his information?"

Jackson had investigated Ambrose to know his rival and be prepared, but he wouldn't tell Gray that he was so wary of Ambrose.

Instead of answering, he asked, "What exactly happened?"

Gray, feeling frustrated, immediately recounted the morning's events in detail and added, "I know Shirley was wronged, but Bianca was punished. This whole thing has blown up, and she's had her revenge. Why's she so petty? I wasn't the one who did those things online, so why is she taking it out on me?

I went to the hospital to comfort the Porter Family for her sake. After leaving the hospital, I searched for her and even bought a gift, but she was flirting with another man right in front of me! If she doesn't reflect on her actions, I won't forgive her easily!"

Jackson, however, wasn't really listening to Gray's complaints. He was thinking that only an idiot like Gray would believe there was something between Ambrose and Shirley.

Ambrose's target was clearly Lillian, and his interactions with Shirley were likely just for show to Gray.

Ambrose and Shirley hadn't met many times and weren't familiar with each other. Ambrose's actions were surely at Lillian's request.

A woman wouldn't push the man she loved to be intimate with another woman, even if it was just an act.

Gray, frustrated, spoke for a long time. When he looked up, he saw that Jackson wasn't sharing his anger but had a faint, pleased smile on his lips.

Gray was stunned. He felt a deep sense of discomfort. "Jackson, are you mocking me?"

Jackson looked up, the smile in his deep eyes fading slightly. "You're overthinking it. I'm just in a good mood all of a sudden."

Jackson ignored Gray and stood up, straightening his collar and instructing Terry, "Prepare for the meeting."

Jackson walked out from behind his desk, and before leaving, seeing Gray's dark expression, he patted Gray's shoulder out of humanitarian concern. "The information is free for you."

Leaving the office, Jackson walked briskly towards the conference room, using another assistant secretary's phone to send a text to Lillian.

At that moment, Lillian had already arrived at The Kelly Media's project department, where project manager Thalia Fairchild was introducing her to her colleagues.

Lillian, poised and confident, introduced herself. When everyone heard her name was Lillian Kelly, their expressions changed slightly.

Thalia pointed to a desk in the corner and smiled, "There are no other workstations available now. You can sit at that desk for now, and we'll adjust it when there's an opportunity."

Lillian looked over. The desk Thalia pointed to was in the farthest corner, far from the window but right next to the restroom.

It was also piled with a lot of files and miscellaneous items. Lillian calmly withdrew her gaze and smiled, nodding, "Alright, Ms. Fairchild. What will I be mainly responsible for, or is there anything I can do? Please feel free to instruct me."

Her attitude was humble, and Thalia nodded at her. "No rush. First, tidy up your workstation and get familiar with the environment. If you really want to do something, see if any colleagues need help."

Thalia finished speaking and went into the manager's office. Lillian watched her back, her smile fading.

It was clear Thalia had no intention of assigning her any serious projects. Lillian absolutely knew it.

Lillian walked to her workstation, put down her bag, and was about to start organizing when her phone rang twice.

Lillian took her phone out of her bag and saw two text messages from an unfamiliar number.

Her brow furrowed, and she had a premonition.

But she had clearly blocked Jackson's number last night. Could it be Jackson again?
