Chapter 614
Jackson's body went rigid as he stared at Lillian's face, full of doubt and mockery. He was pissed.
"I wouldn't!"
No way he'd cover for the person who killed his wife and child.
But Lillian just sneered, shaking her head, not buying it.
"Haven't you done it before? Wendy did all sorts of crap, but the moment Star shed a tear, you kept Wendy's kid.
"Susan pulled all kinds of stunts, but one call from Star, and you caved. Jackson, if you hadn't gone that night, maybe Bob wouldn't have had the chance."
Wendy had messed with her so many times, wrecked their wedding, caused years of misunderstandings, and even hurt Shirley at the wedding.
Jackson had promised he'd get rid of Wendy's kid and throw her in jail, but what happened?
And lately, Jackson was often hanging around Elegance Estates late at night, sometimes for a bit, sometimes till dawn.
Lillian was actually aware of this. She couldn't help but wonder, 'If Jackson hadn't gone to the outskirts that night and had stayed downstairs, would Taylor have been okay?'
"Jackson, Taylor's gone. It's on me, and it's on you, too!"
Lillian's eyes were red as she glared at Jackson. She wanted him to feel guilty, to know how much she was hurting!
She was scared that if the investigation pointed to the Price family, he'd go soft again.
"I know! I've always known I didn't protect you all well enough!"
Jackson raised his hand to touch Lillian's hate-filled eyes, his voice rough, his face pale.
But Lillian suddenly grabbed Jackson's hand that was on her forehead and pressed it hard against her belly.
"No! You don't know! You don't know how obedient and smart Taylor was. Since he came here, he never wanted to trouble me. Early pregnancy nausea only happened occasionally, just to let me know he was there, and then he didn't want to make me uncomfortable anymore.
"I didn't get timely prenatal checkups, but he grew up healthy and never made me worry. When I was sad, he would feel sad with me, keeping me company in his own way.
"After he started moving, he would respond every time I called him. He even had a talent for music. When I played prenatal music recently, he would kick along to the rhythm."
As Lillian spoke, a gentle smile appeared on her face, but tears silently rolled down her cheeks.
Jackson's big hand, pressed against her belly, started sweating coldly and trembling slightly.
His voice was strained. "Lillian, please stop."
"Why should I stop? Taylor really liked you as his dad. That time you went to Country N, I couldn't sleep well for several nights. It was Taylor who felt his dad and reminded me. And a few days ago, when you drove downstairs and stayed there, Taylor was especially well-behaved at night."
Jackson's breath got heavy, feeling his heart being torn to pieces by her words.
He suddenly shouted, "Lillian! I told you to stop talking!"
He abruptly pulled his hand from her belly and held her tightly, pressing against her hair.
"There's really no need to say more."
He closed his pained eyes, already filled with regret.
It wasn't that he was annoyed by her deliberate reminders, but that her constant emphasis was causing her repeated pain and anger, harming her body.
She probably didn't realize that her body was trembling all along.
But Jackson's attempt to stop her only made Lillian's emotions suddenly erupt.
No matter how tightly he held her, it couldn't stop her frantic struggle and screams.
She grabbed his collar, questioning him, "Jackson, where is Taylor's ultrasound report? Where did you put it? Jackson, do you dare to look at it again? Do you dare?"
Lillian's voice grew sharper and sharper as she tore at Jackson's clothes, hitting him frantically.
