Chapter 382 Questioning

When Lillian heard Jackson calling Star so affectionately and saying the word "substitute," she kind of wanted to cry.

She stared at Jackson, her lips trembling, choking up as she asked, "That year when Max carried me and knelt at the Frane family's door, you took me back to the Frane family and treated me so well. Was it because you thought of Star? You gave me orange-flavored candy. Was it because that was Star's favorite candy? And you called me Lilian. Wasn't it because Star's nickname was Lilian, too?"

Lillian never wanted to directly expose the truth because that was too cruel for her.

She didn't want to face that, wanting to retain a bit of dignity and self-respect.

However, she never expected Jackson to be so hateful.

He found Star but still refused to divorce her.

At this moment, Lillian's suppressed emotions burst out, and her voice was almost tearful as she accused and questioned him.

Jackson's face was grim, and his lips were tightly pressed together. He fell silent as if his inner thoughts had been exposed.

But the grip on her arm was firmstrong, showing that he had heard her words and was not indifferent.

He wasn't calm, but he remained silent.

He neither argued nor explained.

Lillian's heart was filled with despair, and she gave a bitter smile, tears streaming down her face.

She felt so pathetic because even at this moment, she still hoped he would tell her that things were not as she thought.

"Say something! You have nothing to say, do you?" Lillian struggled hard, but Jackson didn't let go.

He pulled her forcefully, and she fell into his arms, tightly embraced by him.

Unable to break free, Lillian began to hit his shoulders and back with all her strength, shouting, "Let go! Jackson, I hate you! You're a complete liar, making me think that there was someone in this world who genuinely cared for me. However, you were just treating me as Star's..."

Lillian's tears kept falling, soaking Jackson's black shirt in an instant.

The hot, wet tears seemed to flow into Jackson's heart, softening his initially cold heart instantly.

Some words he never wanted to say to anyone slipped from his tightly closed lips, he interrupting Lillian. "It's not what you think."

His voice was hoarse, right next to Lillian's ear. As he spoke, he gently kissed her earlobe and neck softly.

Lillian's body stiffened for a moment, and then she shook her head fiercely.

She pushed him away with all her strength, her tearful eyes bloodshot as she looked at him. "I don't believe you anymore. If it's not true, then how do you explain what I said? You kept all of Star's things so well, not even letting me touch them. You abandoned me to find her, getting hurt so many times without regard for danger. Do you care about Wendy's baby so much just because it's Henry's child? You didn't tell me the truth last time. You didn't even mention Star because you felt guilty, did you?"

Lillian questioned him, retreating step by step.

She wanted to get away from Jackson. She didn't want to be deceived by him anymore.

She thought Jackson was so annoying because he still looked handsome and reliable even when he lied.
