Chapter 663
Jackson shot back, "What's it to you? Just drive."
Harry, feeling the chill in Jackson's tone, didn't push it and hit the gas.
But he wasn't ready to drop it. He didn't buy that Jackson was over Lillian's drama. "Mr. Frane, I snapped some pics as proof. How about I send them to you? You can pass them on to Ms. Young, give her a heads-up. Don't let her get played by another jerk!"
Jackson's eyes flicked open, his lips curling slightly. "Another jerk?"
Harry's excitement got the better of him, and he realized he just implied Jackson was a jerk too.
He gripped the wheel tighter and quickly changed the subject. "That woman just now, with the hat and mask, it could be told that she's young by her posture and figure. And the way she and Barry were acting, it's clear she likes him. Wasn't Jenny also after Harry before? Guys like him—gentle, considerate, and polite doctors—are a magnet for women. Aren't you worried Lillian might fall for his act?"
Jackson stared out the window, his face hard.
Lillian had kicked him out of the hospital without a second thought. Would she even listen to him now?
To Lillian, he was the biggest jerk, the least trustworthy person around.
Even if he sent her the photos and told her he saw Barry with another woman, she'd just think he was being petty and trying to smear Barry.
She might even get closer to Barry out of spite.
Whatever he did now would just make him look pathetic.
Jackson's brows knitted in frustration and self-mockery, and he stayed silent.
As the car left the parking lot, and Harry thought Jackson had truly given up on Lillian, Jackson's voice came from the back seat, "Send it to me."
Harry knew Jackson couldn't let it go and quickly sent the photos. Jackson grabbed his phone and forwarded them to Lillian.
But he found out she had blocked him.
Jackson's knuckles turned white as he gripped his phone, closed his eyes, and let out a bitter laugh. He turned off the phone and tossed it aside, not looking at it again.
After getting discharged, Jackson headed straight back to the old house. Lyra had been in poor health lately because of the baby.
The car pulled into the courtyard of the ancestral home, and Jackson got out and walked into the foyer.
In the living room, Jenny and her mom Chloe were chatting with Lyra.
Seeing Jackson, Jenny immediately stopped laughing and stood up nervously, "Hey, Jackson."
Jackson didn't look at her, just nodded at Chloe, and said to Lyra, "Grandma, I'm heading to the study. Got some work to do."
Lyra looked at him. Since the whole Lillian mess, Jackson had become colder and more distant, barely saying a word all day.
Lyra sighed and nodded. Chloe suddenly stood up and said, "Jackson, I'm setting up some blind dates for Jenny. You know these guys' backgrounds, right? Can you take a look?"
She handed over a few photos. Jenny, caught off guard by her mom's move, quickly stepped in. "Mom, Jackson doesn't have time for this."
Surprisingly, Jackson actually stopped and looked at Jenny. "You're going on blind dates?"
Jenny was stunned, not expecting him to care.
Ever since Jackson had someone force-feed her chili water, their cousin relationship had been on thin ice, and Jackson treated her like she was invisible.
"Who says Jackson doesn't have time for this? He's clearly concerned about you. Say something," Chloe urged, nudging Jenny.
Feeling a bit flattered, Jenny nodded. "Yeah, I'm at that age for dating and marriage. They're all from our circle. My mom thinks it's good to know their background, so blind dates are fine."
"What about Barry? Weren't you chasing after him before? Why'd you suddenly stop?" Jackson's eyes were sharp as he stared at Jenny.
Jenny nervously licked her lips and shook her head. "I couldn't catch up to him. He has no interest in me at all. How could I keep pursuing him? Anyway, I gave up and don't like him anymore."
Jackson stared at Jenny for a few more seconds before glancing at the photos in Chloe's hand. "Looks good."
With that, he moved forward and headed upstairs with Harry.
Once in the study, Jackson turned to Harry. "Look into what happened between Jenny and Barry, and also check on that woman in the parking lot."
He could tell Jenny was lying.
Jenny had been chasing Barry for two or three years.
She had even clashed with Lillian over Barry, causing several scenes of jealousy. Suddenly giving up and agreeing to blind dates arranged by her family didn't sit right with Jackson.
Harry smirked. "Got it."
He knew it! As long as it involved Lillian, Jackson couldn't stay out of it.
Harry left, and Jackson sat behind his desk, his brows slightly furrowed.
He hadn't interacted much with Barry, but he could tell Barry wasn't as harmless as he seemed.
When Barry had an incident abroad, his mother Amy came to propose marriage, claiming Barry was unaware and that she, as a mother, acted out of concern for her child.
But how did Amy know about Barry's crush on Lillian?
It was likely Barry had hinted at it.
For years, Barry had been hovering around Lillian, silently giving without asking for anything in return. How selfless.
Jackson rubbed his temples, took out his phone, and sent the photo to Gray.
Gray immediately replied with a question mark.
Jackson called Gray and instructed, "Send the photo to Shirley and say you took it at the hospital parking lot. Don't mention me."
Before Gray could say a word, Jackson hung up.
Gray looked at the photo for a moment, speechless, but he still sent it to Shirley as instructed.
