Chapter 795
Lillian's nose inexplicably felt a bit sour, and she snapped the box shut.
"Who are you calling grandpa and grandma? Mr. Frane, don't throw those terms around so casually. If my grandpa hears you, he might come after you with his cane."
The grandparents Jackson was talking about weren't Lyra and the late Lucas—it was Oberon and Flora.
Lillian had also seen the hairpin that Oberon gave Flora forty years ago.
Although Flora rarely had moments of clarity now, she treasured that hairpin dearly and wouldn't let anyone touch it.
Lillian had always envied the relationship between Oberon and Flora. She didn't expect Jackson to imitate Oberon today and give her a hairpin.
It was even a piece by the same master carver, Brandon, who had made the one Oberon gave Flora.
As far as Lillian knew, Brandon rarely carved jewelry in his lifetime.
This should be one of the only two hairpins Brandon ever carved.
Had to admit, Jackson put a lot of thought into this gift.
"If grandpa hits me once, I'll call him once. Sooner or later, he'll get used to it and won't have the heart to hit me anymore."
Lillian chuckled lightly, "You sure are confident. I'm heading to work now, bye."
With that, Lillian hung up without a trace of reluctance.
On the other end, Jackson was holding his phone, still not having processed what had happened, and there was no response from the other side.
Jackson shook his head with a helpless smile, his eyes showing a bit of resignation.
At that moment, Terry happened to push the door open and come in.
"Mr. Frane, here are two videos and a few photos for you to look at."
Terry stepped forward, placed the tablet in front of Jackson, and opened the videos.
The videos showed Star's glove accidentally catching fire, revealing her severed finger in public.
In another video, Jackson was holding a baby, and Star was bending down beside him to touch the baby's forehead.
Jackson recognized that this video was from when he had encountered the nanny taking Logan to the hospital.
That night, he had stayed in the hospital room to take care of the child until late at night. Besides him and Star, the nanny from the Price family was also there.
Apparently, this video was secretly filmed by that nanny.
The nanny probably wouldn't have thought to secretly film this video out of boredom, so it was likely at Star's behest.
The video was very short, less than ten seconds.
Therefore, Jackson hadn't noticed that he was being filmed at the time.
As for the photos Terry mentioned, Jackson opened them and his eyes grew colder.
They were just some photos taken from selected angles, showing him and Star seemingly alone and intimate, either through misalignment or cropping out others.
At first glance, it really did look like they were in a relationship.
"Mr. Frane, these videos and photos have been circulating among the employees of several companies in Miracalia, and everyone is talking about it."
Terry stood by, explaining the situation, and seeing Jackson's face grow colder, he swallowed hard.
Jackson threw the tablet heavily back onto the table and looked up at Terry. "What are they talking about?"
"People are saying you and Ms. Price grew up together—childhood sweethearts. They're claiming she lost her finger saving you from kidnappers. Now that she's back, you've been spending a lot of time together, and some are even saying Logan might be…"
"Might be what?" Jackson's eyes turned icy.
Terry clenched his jaw. "They're speculating Logan's your kid—yours and Ms. Price's."
Jackson let out a cold laugh.
No wonder Ronnie dared to act recklessly for Star; it was all because of these things.
He didn't even know that he and Star supposedly had a child together.
It was simply absurd.
"Mr. Frane, these days, spreading rumors is the easiest thing. You don't need to get angry over these nonsensical people."
Terry quickly tried to console him, and Jackson slowly exhaled.
"What else are they discussing?"
He thought that since the videos and photos were so suggestive, someone must be deliberately guiding public opinion and fabricating stories.
"There are even more outrageous things. Even the fact that you missed your wedding with Mrs. Frane has been exposed.
Everyone is saying that Mrs. Frane threatened you with suicide and pressured you with the elders to prepare that wedding against your will.
But because your true love is Star, you didn't show up at the wedding, and Mrs. Frane hated Star so much that she tried to run her over with a car.
Unfortunately, you showed up in time and protected Star with your life, so Mrs. Frane had to divorce you and disappear from Miracalia."
Jackson's forehead veins throbbed slightly. Hearing these ridiculous things made him so angry.
If Lillian heard this, how upset and angry would she be!
It was obvious who was behind this.
Jackson's eyes turned icy cold. The Price family was really something.
Seeing that he wouldn't let them have their way, they wanted to continue morally blackmailing him.
Did they really think that public opinion siding with the Price family would make him comply unconditionally?
What a pipe dream!
"Mr. Frane, as wild as these rumors are, the issue is—some of it did happen. That mix of truth and lies makes it harder to untangle. Even if you set the record straight, people might still buy into the narrative.”
Take Jackson missing the wedding—he did go pick up Star that day.
And Lillian did try to run Star over, which caused a scene.
No matter how much they tried to bury it, word got out.
Terry was sweating bullets. If this wasn't handled right, Jackson's shot at winning back his wife could be toast.
