Chapter 447

Jackson slammed on the brakes, his face going pale as he grabbed Lillian.

He yelled, "Lillian, what are you doing?"

But it was too late. The diary was gone from her hands.

Jackson's eyes were bloodshot. He hadn't slept for two days trying to get back in time for the wedding. His eyes burned, but the pain in his heart was worse, like a knife cutting through it.

He felt like she had torn apart not just the diary but her love for him too.

Lillian, on the other hand, looked calm and composed. She didn't love him anymore; her heart was cold. Why would she care about a torn diary?

She looked at his furious face and even smiled a bit.

"Jackson, you didn't care about our wedding; why care about a tampered diary?" she mocked.

Jackson stared at her indifferent expression, feeling extremely angry. He worried that if he stayed with her any longer, he might hurt her.

He let go of Lillian, opened the car door, and got out. But he had been driving fast, and the wind and snow were fierce tonight.

The diary had already been carried away by the wind, nowhere to be found.

Jackson walked back along the road for about ten meters, finding only the book cover in the snow and a scattered page.

He took out his phone for light, intending to use the flashlight to search nearby. Then he heard a car.

His eyes turned cold as he saw his Maybach speeding away. In an instant, the mountain road was plunged into complete darkness, surrounded by ice and snow.

Jackson rubbed his forehead, feeling helpless. After a while, he made a call. "Send a car over and bring a team to search along the mountain road. Find every single page of the diary!"

Lillian hadn't been at the hospital long when Shirley woke up. Barry handed Lillian a sterile gown and led her into the ICU.

Shirley lay there weakly. In all the years Lillian had known her, Lillian had never seen her look so pale. Shirley had always been full of energy.

Lillian's throat choked up; she didn't want to cry, but tears fell uncontrollably.

"Shirley, you're finally awake. I was so scared!" Lillian sobbed.

Shirley smiled weakly and spoke with difficulty, "Silly girl, did you forget? I'm the best at taking falls. How could anything happen to me?"

She had been physically abused by her parents since childhood and later worked as a stunt double, risking her life to make a living.

But if it weren't for life's pressures, who would be good at falling and getting hurt?

Lillian felt heavy-hearted as she hugged her.

"Are you stupid? Why did you rush up at that moment? Aren't you the one who hates evil the most?" Lillian said miserably.

Shirley's disdain for Daisy and Wendy was no less than Lillian's. Normally, if those two fell, she would only regret not being able to kick them while they were down.

But at that moment, she had rushed up to push them away to safety, falling herself.

Lillian couldn't understand. Shirley blinked and spoke haltingly, "I think there's something wrong with Wendy's baby. It seemed like she wanted to fall on purpose and use it as an opportunity to become Daisy's savior. How could I let her succeed?"
