Chapter 768

Jackson, who had always been calm and fearless, actually asked her for a sense of security.

His tone was so helpless and vulnerable.

Lillian moved her lips, realizing that it was really too easy to feel soft-hearted towards him.

Almost instinctively, she used her free hand to rub Jackson's head and said softly.

"I'm not playing with you, nor am I taking revenge. Do you really see me as someone who plays with others' feelings?"

She wouldn't do that to anyone, especially not to Jackson.

Hearing her say this, Jackson finally felt relieved.

Lillian wouldn't know that ever since she agreed to him in the morning, he had been in a state of excitement, always afraid it was just his illusion, or that she would change her mind.

That's why he was so flustered when he saw Lillian on a date.

Suppressing his laughter, Jackson lifted his head from Lillian's neck, shook his head, and began to shift the blame.

"Of course not! My Lillian has always been sincere, passionate, responsible, and loyal in her feelings. How could she toy with me? It's all Mike's fault. He texted me and misled me. I'll deal with him later!"

Lillian was still wondering how Jackson knew she was here. Now it all made sense.

So Mike was here too, tipping him off.

"Then what's the deal with that guy just now? Weren't you on a date?"

Although he believed Lillian, Jackson still felt jealous thinking about the scene he had just walked in on.

Lillian then remembered that Miguel was still waiting, and she was here to find the missing Shirley.

She quickly pulled her hand back and said, "Of course, I'm not on a date. I'm here with Shirley. Miguel wasn't holding my hand; he was just checking my pulse. Alright, let go. Shirley has been missing for a while, and I need to find her."

Lillian took a step to leave, but her hand was pulled back by Jackson.

She fell into his arms again, and before she could react, Jackson quickly kissed her lips twice. In Lillian's wide-eyed gaze, he quickly pulled away. "A kiss to comfort me."

Lillian was speechless.

"Let's go. I'll help you find Shirley." Jackson held Lillian's hand and walked towards the restroom. Lillian nodded.

"I think Miguel is a good guy. He's good-looking, patient, talkative, and has a sense of propriety..."

Lillian wanted to ask Jackson if he thought Miguel was suitable for Shirley.

However, her praise and affirmation almost made Jackson's face darken again.

Even if Miguel wasn't Lillian's date, Jackson didn't want to hear her praise another man.

He interrupted Lillian, "What kind of doctor is he?"

"Plastic surgeon. I think doctors are generally more patient, gentle, and meticulous..."

Jackson interrupted her again, "Many high-IQ criminals are also doctors. They hide deeper, are better at disguising, and understand psychological manipulation, like your senior Barry."

Lillian fell silent.

Lillian had never contacted Barry again after returning to Miracalia and had never seen him.

Now that Jackson suddenly mentioned him, Lillian still felt a lingering fear thinking about the past.

"Is Barry no longer in Miracalia?" she asked.

Jackson squinted slightly, "Why, do you still want to see him?"

Lillian shook her head. She was just curious. Barry seemed to have disappeared.

But with Jackson's words, Lillian's good impression of Miguel seemed to be affected.

"Miguel is a plastic surgeon. Has he had work done on his face too?" Jackson added, "And doctors are very busy. Shirley wants to be a star, which means she'll be traveling a lot and joining film crews. Both of them being so busy, how could they be suitable?"

That seemed to make some sense.

Lillian pondered but felt something was off. She turned her head and looked at Jackson suspiciously.

"Why do you have such a bad opinion of Miguel?"

Jackson firmly denied it, his expression calm. "I don't. I'm just stating objective facts. Weren't you asking for my opinion just now?"

Miguel must be unsuitable for Shirley.

Because, just as Lillian got up to leave, he had scared Miguel away.

Lillian believed Jackson and turned back.

"I'll go in and look for Shirley."

They had reached the restroom door, and Jackson let go of her hand.

Lillian quickly walked in, and Jackson let out a slight sigh of relief.

However, Lillian didn't find Shirley in the restroom.

It wasn't surprising, though. It had been almost half an hour since Shirley left, far exceeding the time needed for makeup.

Lillian was a bit worried and called Shirley, but no one answered.

She came out of the restroom to find Jackson leaning against the wall, idly spinning his phone.

Seeing her come out with a frown, Jackson stood up straight, "Didn't find her? Don't worry, Shirley is a grown woman in a proper restaurant. She can't just disappear without a trace."

Lillian also thought that if Shirley had to leave, she would definitely tell her.

Shirley suddenly disappearing and being unreachable could only mean something unexpected happened, like encountering a lunatic?

"Ask Gray for me." Lillian looked at Jackson and urged.

Jackson didn't hesitate and directly called Gray.

But no one answered for a long time. Just as it was about to hang up automatically, Gray's slightly hoarse voice finally came through.

"Jackson, I'm on set. What's up?"

As soon as he finished speaking, there was a sound of something falling to the ground on the other end.

Lillian instinctively felt something was off. She tugged at Jackson's sleeve.

"Are you not with Shirley?" Jackson asked in a deep voice.

"I'm really on set filming. How could I be with her? I have to go, we're about to start shooting..."

The sound of something heavy falling echoed again.

Lillian instinctively felt it was Shirley making that noise. Shirley was about to go on a date, and now she was missing. How suspicious.

Lillian grabbed the phone, "Gray, did you take Shirley? If you do anything to her, I won't let you off. You... hello?"

Before Lillian could finish, the other end went silent. Gray had hung up.

Lillian held the phone, fuming. She pressed a few buttons forcefully and redialed.

This time, Gray's phone was turned off.

Lillian was filled with worry and anger.

"It must be Gray. Otherwise, why would he be so guilty and turn off his phone?"

Lillian glared at Jackson angrily, "It's all your fault! You used to do such things, and now Gray might have learned from you and locked Shirley up!"

Jackson was silent.

He had just managed to calm Lillian down, and now the blame was on him again.

He felt so wronged, weak, and helpless.
