Chapter 316 I Should Have Woken You Up
When Jackson came out of the hospital room, he saw the scene.
On the bench opposite the room, the delicate and beautiful Lillian was sleeping soundly, leaning on the shoulder of the elegant and composed Barry.
And she was wrapped in Barry's coat.
Jackson's handsome face instantly turned sullen, and his voice was cold and sharp as he shouted, "Lillian!"
Lillian was startled awake and groggily heard Jackson's voice.
Feeling someone beside her, she instinctively thought it was Jackson.
She reached out and hugged Barry's waist and muttered, "Why did you take so long to come out?"
Before Lillian could finish her sentence, a strong force grabbed her arm and lifted her directly off the bench.
Dizzy and stumbling, she fell straight into Jackson's cold, hard embrace.
The coat wrapped around her fell to the ground.
Lillian was now fully awake. She opened her eyes, saw Barry standing up not far away, and then looked up at Jackson's particularly grim face, realizing what had happened.
Before she could explain, Jackson looked down and said coldly, "Who were you just hugging?"
As Jackson thought about how Lillian had just snuggled into Barry's arms right in front of him, his heart burned with jealousy.
Lillian felt a bit wronged by the scolding.
Barry couldn't stand it, frowned, and said, "Mr. Frane, you're being too harsh on her. She's pregnant, and you let her sleep in a hallway like this. Don't you know how troublesome it is for a pregnant woman to catch a cold? If you can't take good care of her, you shouldn't have brought her back!"
Barry's words added fuel to the fire, and There seemed to be a storm brewing in Jackson's eyes as he wrapped his arm around Lillian's waist and said coldly, "Lillian is my wife, and she doesn't need your concern. It seems I was too lenient with that punch last time!"
Jackson's hand, like an iron grip, encircled Lillian's slender waist.
His fingers pressed right where Lillian had been hit earlier, causing a wave of pain.
Lillian thought about the scene in Susan's ward earlier, feeling a bit angry. Seeing him come out and lose his temper without understanding the situation, she felt more wronged.
Hearing Jackson say he had hit Barry, Lillian looked at Barry, and she indeed saw a bruise on his right cheek that hadn't faded.
She felt a surge of anger, pushed Jackson away, and frowned, shouting, "Jackson, have you said enough? I just accidentally fell asleep, and Barry was worried I'd catch a cold, so he gave me a coat. Is it necessary for you to be so angry? The incident at the airport was my request for Barry's help. If you want to blame someone, blame me. Why drag others into it?"
Lillian felt wronged. If Jackson had remembered she was waiting outside and could have come out earlier, she wouldn't have fallen asleep on the bench.
Why could he have hugged Wendy in front of her before, but now he was so angry when she had done nothing on purpose?
Jackson didn't expect to be pushed away by Lillian.
At this moment, her attitude clearly sided with Barry.
Jackson's face darkened further. He looked at Lillian intently, his lips tightly pressed.
Lillian felt a bit scared by his intimidating gaze, with frustration and sadness buried in her heart.
For a moment, she almost wanted to apologize.
But she clenched her fists and held back.
Jackson's emotions gradually calmed as he saw her stubbornness. He said coldly, "Very well."
With that, he withdrew his gaze, took large strides, and left Lillian behind.
Lillian stood there, watching his cold and lonely back as he left, her eyes welling up.
Barry said with guilt, "Lillian, I'm sorry. It was my fault. I should have woken you up."
