Chapter 343 Broken Trust

Star smiled faintly and nodded. "I've noted everything you said. Don't worry."

Jackson didn't say much, turned around, and got into the car.

Inside the car, Terry was already prepared and handed a tablet to Jackson, saying, "Three emergency plans have been discussed. Please make a decision."

Lillian sat on the bench for a long, long time. Finally, she took out that business card and called Ambrose. "Mr. Kelly, I'm Lillian. I've thought it over about the dance company, and I want to give it a try."

On the other end of the phone, Ambrose raised an eyebrow slightly, his voice sounding a bit surprised. "Ms. Young, you're more decisive than I thought."

Lillian's earlier demeanor clearly showed she had been hurt in a relationship, utterly dejected.

At the prime of her life, she chose to give up her career and future to marry Jackson.

It was obvious she loved Jackson very much.

It wasn't hard to guess that she had spent four years in this relationship and marriage, enough time for a woman to lose her dreams.

Many women might never stand up again and would choose to stay at home for the rest of their lives.

When Ambrose gave her that business card, he didn't actually have high hopes for Lillian.

"Your words should still count, right?" Lilian asked.

"Of course. Tomorrow at 10 AM, at the Miracalia Theater, I'll introduce you to the dance company's artistic director, Victoria. Ms. Young, be prepared."

"Thank you," Lillian exhaled lightly and added, "However, I can only stay with the dance company for three or four months. To be honest, I passed Alice's interview. Once my baby is born next year, I will go abroad to study. Is that okay?"

Previously, Lillian was in a hurry to go abroad because she was worried Jackson would find out about the pregnancy.

Now that Taylor had been discovered, Lillian was no longer in a rush to leave.

Alice's world tour wouldn't end until next year, and Lillian didn't want to waste the time in between.

If she could join the dance company for a while, it would enrich her resume and help her earn some money for future living and tuition expenses.

"You can discuss it with Victoria tomorrow. If she agrees, then it's fine," Ambrose replied.

After hanging up with Ambrose, Lillian raised her hand to touch her belly and muttered, "Taylor, I'm sorry for neglecting you. You scared me because you were angry with me, right? Don't worry. I will become strong and resilient. I promise I will never let my emotions get out of control and hurt you again. Taylor, forgive me this once. Be a good child, and give me strength, okay?"

That night, Lillian went to bed early, and Jackson hadn't come back by the time she lay down.

Lillian didn't know if he would come back that night.

She lay in bed, closed her eyes, and couldn't help but imagine Jackson and Star embracing freely at Serenity Haven Manor.

She thought she wouldn't be able to sleep, but unexpectedly, she fell asleep without realizing it.

Lillian, in a daze, felt the bed behind her sink slightly. A pair of arms gently embraced around her waist from behind.

Lillian suddenly woke up but didn't move.

"Did I wake you?" Jackson asked.

Jackson noticed Lillian's body stiffened abruptly in his arms.

Jackson's voice came from behind her ear, low and familiar.

His thin lips still carried a bit of post-shower moisture, gently kissing behind her ear, and he said softly, "I came back late. Go ahead and sleep."

Lillian opened her eyes, no longer sleepy, her gaze cold and clear.

She asked, "Where did you go?"

Jackson held her tighter and said in a deep voice, "I got injured a couple of days ago and had some accumulated work to handle, so I was late."

Lillian smiled bitterly.

She wanted to believe him, but trust, once cracked, allowed dark suspicions to creep in through the gaps and take over her heart.

She suddenly broke free from Jackson's arms and turned over to face him.

In the darkness, she gazed at his stern face and slowly said, "I heard something ridiculous today, and I don't know if it's true."
