Chapter 348 Strange Soup
When Lillian went downstairs, the servant had prepared breakfast.
She took a sip of milk and asked the servant, "Is Grandma Lyra not home?"
"Two years ago, Mrs. Lyra Frane prayed at the Celestial Virtual Cathedral for Mr. Frane and you to have a happy marriage and a baby soon. Nowadays, you two have reconciled, and you're expecting, so Mrs. Lyra Frane took Peggy to the church early this morning. The maple trees at Celestial Virtual Cathedral have ripened, and she plans to stay there for a few days."
Lillian's grip on the cup tightened, and her heart skipped a beat.
She thought, 'Since Jackson met his Star at birth, why did he have to play a trick on me? Grandma Lyra is bound to be disappointed.'
Lillian finished her breakfast and was about to leave when Daisy came in with Anna.
"Lillian, I made some soup for you. Drink it while it's hot." Daisy signaled, and Anna immediately opened the thermos container and served a bowl of soup, placing it in front of Lillian.
Lillian looked up and said, "I'm already full."
Daisy displeasingly said, "It's just a bowl of soup. You can drink it. You're pregnant now, and you can't skip meals to maintain your figure like before! Drink it."
Daisy directly shoved the bowl of soup into Lillian's hands, urging her.
The soup was rich with ingredients but didn't look or smell very appetizing.
Lillian knew Daisy was thinking of the baby in her belly.
The soup wasn't poisonous, but she was already full and had a dance rehearsal later, so eating too much would be inconvenient.
Lillian put the bowl down and said, "Sorry, I really can't drink it. I'm in a hurry to leave."
She stood up to go, but Daisy wouldn't let her off.
Daisy shouted, "Stop her! She can't leave until she finishes this soup!"
Anna immediately blocked Lillian and said, "Mrs. Lillian Frane, this is not right. Mrs. Daisy Frane made this soup with great care and brought it over early in the morning. How can you refuse her kindness?"
In the past, Daisy often insisted that Lillian had various medicines to help with the pregnancy.
Lillian was in a hurry and didn't know when she could leave if they kept arguing, so she pressed her lips and drank the bowl of soup.
Daisy's expression softened as she said, "I carefully selected the ingredients. You should finish them all."
Lillian stirred the soup with a spoon and fished out something strange, asking, "What is this?"
It was wrinkled and clearly some kind of meat.
"It's cod. Mrs. Daisy Frane went to great lengths to prepare it. They say the fresher it is, the better," Anna replied.
Lillian's stomach churned violently. Before Anna could finish her sentence, Lillian rushed to the trash can and started vomiting uncontrollably.
"She threw it all up!" Anna said anxiously.
Daisy's face darkened, and she signaled Anna to serve another bowl.
Lillian had vomited up her entire breakfast and still felt unwell.
She stood up, holding onto the table, and another bowl of soup was placed in front of her.
"Take it away!" Lillian pushed it away forcefully, and the bowl shattered on the floor.
Daisy angrily said, "Lillian, I'm trying to help you nourish your body. Don't be ungrateful! I'll bring this soup every day, and you must finish it."
Lillian grabbed a napkin to wipe her mouth and swung her arm forcefully.
The thermos container fell to the ground, spilling soup everywhere.
