Chapter 537
In the car, Lillian sat expressionless, not struggling, because she knew it was futile.
She looked exhausted and didn't even glance at Jackson.
Jackson raised his hand and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I don't agree with you going to Duke University Hospital."
Lillian said indifferently, "I'm the mother. I have the right to choose the hospital."
Jackson sneered coldly, "But I'm Taylor's father, and you need my signature to get into the delivery room!"
Lillian had no other family, so indeed, she needed Jackson's signature when the time came.
She turned back angrily and raised her hand to hit Jackson. "Bastard! Are you even a man, threatening me with this?"
But Jackson seemed to have anticipated her move, grabbed her hand, and said coldly, "If I weren't a man, how would you have gotten pregnant with Taylor?"
Lillian glared at him, gritting her teeth.
Jackson's expression softened slightly. "Duke University Hospital doesn't have the conditions of a private hospital. Even if not for yourself, don't you want Taylor to receive better care and protection at birth? Don't be willful."
He always seemed so reasonable, so considerate of her.
But Lillian felt extremely tired. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her emotions had become very faint.
"Jackson, in the more than two years we've been married, you didn't care about me at all. Now that we're divorced, you want to control everything. Don't you think it's too late?"
"No, I don't," Jackson replied, lowering his eyes.
Lillian felt like she was punching cotton, extremely frustrated, and her tone became annoyed and sarcastic. "You want to control Star, and also me and Taylor. Can you manage all that? No wonder Star scratched you; I can't help but want to hit you too."
As she said this, her gaze fell on the scratch on Jackson's neck.
Jackson followed her gaze and sensed something.
He raised his hand to touch his neck, feeling a slight sting.
Jackson frowned slightly, recalling how the wound came about.
He looked deeply at Lillian. "Are you jealous? You misunderstood. Star had a nightmare, I just woke her up, and she scratched me in her panic, that's all. There's nothing between us."
But Lillian couldn't help but imagine Star crying in hisarms, seeking comfort.
She withdrew her hand and said, "I'm not jealous. I don't love you anymore, why would I be jealous?"
However, Jackson suddenly raised his hand, his arm pressing against the back of Lillian's seat, his tall body bringing a heavy sense of oppression, gripping her chin.
"Don't love me anymore?" Jackson narrowed his eyes. "If that's true, why can't you treat me normally? Why do you keep avoiding me, not daring to face me?"
Lillian was flustered by his sharp gaze, and she reached out to push him away.
But Jackson was particularly persistent, suddenly grabbing her hands and lifting them, pressing them above her head.
Unlike the gentle and restrained kiss in Country N, this time he leaned in and kissed her heavily.
This time, his kiss was heavy and deep, as if trying to reawaken the love and passion she had for him.
Lillian's refusal turned into a whimper, which dissipated in the heat of their lips and teeth.
Her struggle only made their bodies press closer together, his chest pressing against hers, his body heat warming her, making her breath and mind chaotic.
Lillian became increasingly panicked, feeling herself losing control, while Jackson in front of her was clearly even more out of control.
Jackson, who had long been unsatisfied, pressed his hard body against her, aroused and desirous.
This kiss had already changed in nature.
Lillian's tears fell in panic, and Jackson tasted the salty bitterness, finally pulling away from her lips, ending this moment of confusion and desire.
He rested his forehead against hers, his gaze burning as he stared at her misty, red eyes, which didn't match her cold demeanor, and said hoarsely, "You still love me, but you keep trying to convince yourself that you don't. You're just fooling yourself!"
