Chapter 421
Wendy chimed in, "The handwriting looks like Jackson's, but it was written by a woman. So, it must be Lillian's."
Lillian felt a sense of dread, but she didn't expect things to escalate so fast.
Seeing how things were unfolding, Lillian understood everything. She clenched her fist, looked at Jackson, and said loudly, "It wasn't me."
"It couldn't have been Lillian!"
Lillian was surprised to hear Jackson's strong voice echo hers.
Jackson, holding the paper, turned to look at her.
Their eyes met, and Lillian felt a sting in her nose.
She thought, 'Thank goodness Jackson believes me. That's all I need.'
Dominic sternly said, "Jackson, Susan almost died! This letter is malicious and aimed to kill her. You can't cover this up!"
Lillian stepped up beside Jackson, saying, "Why would I harm Susan? Just because she doesn't like me? Lots of people don't like me. I don't think it's worth putting myself at risk for something like this. Plus, Susan's been through so much, and I feel sorry for her. I've never hated her. If Susan died, it would be another huge obstacle for Jackson, and he'd hate me for it. Eventually, it would only hurt me and be pointless."
Dominic glared at Lillian, and continued making wild accusations, "Nonsense! You have a motive. I heard you're planning a wedding with Jackson, and Susan disapproves. You're worried and hold a grudge."
Jackson held Lillian's hand and reminded Dominic, "Dominic, this could've been done with a simple text. Why would Lillian leave a letter in her own handwriting? Handwriting can be forged, and today's biggest winner isn't her."
"Jackson, what are you implying?" Dominic frowned.
Jackson's cold gaze landed on Wendy.
Wendy felt like Jackson could see right through her. Her heart was instantly filled with jealousy and anger.
She thought Jackson would suspect Lillian when it came to matters involving the Price family.
The handwriting did look like Lillian's, and Lillian had conflicts with Susan before.
But she didn't expect Jackson to defend Lillian so firmly, without any doubt.
Wendy's tears fell as she put on an innocent and sad look. "Mr. Frane, are you suspecting me? I just found out Star is fake."
She walked over to Dominic, anxious and angry. "Dad, why would I harm Susan? It wouldn't benefit me at all! Mr. Frane can't just accuse someone to clear his wife's name."
Lillian sneered and stared at Wendy. "I don't mind calling the police to compare the handwriting and check for fingerprints."
Wendy stayed calm. "Then go ahead and call the police to carry out a thorough investigate!"
Wendy was confident. Even if the police couldn't pin it on Lillian, they wouldn't pin it on her either.
Jackson said in a deep voice, "No need to call the police. I'll get to the bottom of this."
Dominic seemed tired. He didn't argue and pinched the bridge of his nose.
He didn't look well, and Jackson led him away to get some rest.
Wendy walked over to Lillian with a smug smile.
She snorted, "Lillian, you say Jackson believes you, but why doesn't he agree to call the police?"
Lillian ignored her, but Wendy kept talking, "There are only two possibilities: either he doesn't believe you and is afraid the police will find your fingerprints, so he's protecting you. Or, he's suspecting me. Even if he knows you're being framed, he still chooses to protect me. Who do you think he's protecting?"
