Chapter 753
Terry's idea quickly fell apart when they arrived at the hospital and saw Jackson's leg, swollen and bruised, with his pant leg rolled up to his knee.
It was terrifying. If he kept kneeling, his leg would be ruined.
Lillian's heart ached as she watched, her eyes darting around.
The doctor was treating him, frowning in confusion. "How did he get this injury? It looks so serious. Move it a bit. Do we need to take an X-ray?"
The doctor looked up at Lillian. She moved her lips but didn't know what to say.
She couldn't possibly say it was from kneeling. "It was... just a bump, an accident."
"A bump? If it's that serious, to be safe, I suggest we take an X-ray..."
Before the doctor could finish, Jackson, who was receiving an IV on the bed, spoke up, "It wasn't a bump. No need for an X-ray."
Jackson said this while bending his knee. Seeing him move freely and with a normal expression, the doctor didn't press further.
But he was really curious. If it wasn't a bump, how did it get like this?
The middle-aged doctor wanted to ask more but shut his mouth when he met Jackson's cold gaze.
But he seemed to understand how it happened.
'Young people can be shy. What's the big deal? I was young once too,' he thought.
The doctor applied some ointment for bruises on Jackson and left. Jackson lay on the hospital bed, his face less red but showing signs of pale exhaustion.
Lillian told him to rest. Seeing him fall asleep quickly, she left the room to talk to Terry.
"Could you take care of him? Mystic Meadows isn't far from here. I had the housekeeper prepare a nutritious breakfast. I'll go get it and change my clothes."
Lillian had slept in the car last night but had stayed on the mountain with Jackson for a long time. Her clothes were dirty.
Terry agreed, and Lillian left the hospital.
She went home, took a shower, changed clothes, and hurried downstairs.
The housekeeper had already set breakfast on the table. Lillian ate quickly, finishing in about ten minutes.
She grabbed the insulated food container and left the dining room. At the spiral staircase, Shirley was stretching as she came down.
Seeing her, Shirley quickly said, "Lillian, where were you last night? You didn't come home!"
She said this as she rushed down the stairs to Lillian.
Lillian thought about her night with Jackson and didn't know where to start. Being stared at by Shirley made her feel inexplicably guilty.
If Shirley found out she spent the night with Jackson... she might rush into the kitchen for a knife.
"I didn't stay out all night. I just came back late. You were asleep when I got back."
"Really? But I was shooting an ad at the studio and didn't get back until early morning."
Lillian's expression was about to crack. She quickly said, "I got back around the same time, maybe ten or twenty minutes after you."
Shirley seemed to believe her and pulled Lillian aside.
"Your brother... Mr. Kelly, he set me up on several blind dates! Should I go?"
Lillian was in a hurry to leave but couldn't ignore Shirley's issue.
She calmed herself, "Of course, you should go. My brother wouldn't introduce you to anyone bad! And you should dress up nicely. What if your future husband is among them?"
Lillian didn't want to mention doing this to make Gray regret it. After all, Gray meant nothing to them now.
She just hoped Shirley would find the right man. Although Shirley had parents and a brother, they were too biased.
Lillian had seen how hard Shirley's life had been.
Now that Shirley's career was taking off, she deserved some happiness.
Love was just the icing on the cake. If so, she should choose the best!
"You really trust Mr. Kelly!" Shirley raised an eyebrow.
Lillian laughed, "Of course. Birds of a feather flock together. How about I set you up with Ambrose instead?"
Shirley quickly waved her hand. Ambrose was great.
But she wasn't clueless. Ambrose liked Lillian.
The Kelly family also wanted Lillian and Ambrose together, which is why they had Lillian stay in Miracalia with Ambrose.
Shirley could date any man, but she wouldn't touch anyone related to Lillian.
"I'm more excited about the blind dates. But it's my first time. Will you come with me?"
Lillian shook her head, but Shirley clung to her arm, pouting.
Shirley was straightforward and rarely acted cute.
Lillian couldn't resist and nodded. Shirley continued, "By the way, I'm free now. I'm planning to call my assistant to help me move my stuff back. I won't stay here anymore."
Shirley informed Lillian.
Ambrose was also staying here, and Oberon wanted to set him up with Lillian. Shirley had stayed a few days out of necessity.
Staying longer would be inappropriate.
Besides, Shirley thought Ambrose was great—gentle, considerate, and faithful.
If they got married, he would surely pamper Lillian forever.
Wasn't that better than Jackson, who was always cold and aloof?
She was waiting for Lillian and Ambrose to get married and for Jackson to kneel and cry.
Little did she know, Jackson had almost silently taken Lillian away again.
Lillian drove to the hospital. As she got out with the food container, she ran into Ambrose's assistant, Dashiell.
Dashiell quickly approached, took the container from Lillian, and smiled.
"I'll take it. Mr. Kelly will be happy to know you came to see him early. You even brought him breakfast. I hadn't ordered any yet."
Seeing Dashiell reminded Lillian of Ambrose's hospitalization for a stomach illness.
So much had happened in the past two days that she had forgotten about it.
She didn't even know Ambrose was still in the hospital.
And Jackson was admitted to the same hospital near Mystic Meadows today.
Dashiell clearly thought Lillian was bringing breakfast for Ambrose. Seeing Dashiell holding the container tightly, Lillian felt too ashamed to say she wasn't there for Ambrose.
She smiled at Dashiell and gently asked about Ambrose's recovery, deciding to follow him to Ambrose's room.
