Chapter 506 Waver
Lillian looked at Jackson, uncertain whether it was his kind gaze or his timely arrival that caused her hesitation.
He appeared when she was at her most helpless.
But she knew it was a trap.
She bit her tongue to stay clear-headed and pulled his hand away, shaking her head.
"Take care of me and Taylor? We'd both end up dead."
Her eyes were cold, filled with doubt and sarcasm.
Jackson's face turned pale. "Lillian, you know how to break my heart."
Lillian stared him down.
"That's because I'm telling the truth. Don't you know who sent these people tonight?
I've hidden so far and almost died. You want me to go back and die?"
The Price family hadn't stopped looking for her; it had to be them.
They wanted her and Taylor gone to make room for Star.
Jackson's jaw tightened, a chilling aura surrounding him as he fell silent.
Upon mentioning the Price family, he remained silent, likely making excuses for them, causing a shiver down her spine.
Even the cup in her hand felt cold.
She put the cup down, lay down, and pulled up the blanket. "I'm tired, I want to rest."
She turned her back to Jackson.
Jackson looked at her, his eyes reddening. "No matter who wants to hurt you and the child, I won't hesitate or be soft-hearted, and I definitely won't cover for them!"
His silence signaled not hesitation but surprise at her lack of trust.
Lillian closed her eyes, her nose stinging.
She didn't speak, unsure if she should believe him.
The room fell silent.
Then, there was noise outside; Harry had returned.
"Mr. Frane, three are dead, the others dealt with, and the local police notified."
Lillian's face turned pale again.
She sat up urgently. "Seren?"
"Mrs. Frane, don't worry, Seren is slightly injured, not seriously, and is at the hospital."
Lillian's heart finally settled. She raised her voice to Harry outside.
"Thank you, are you hurt?"
Harry, about to leave, was stunned by her concern. He returned to the door and thundered, "Mrs. Frane, don't worry, those bastards couldn't hurt me, but Mr. Frane got a bit injured."
Before Harry could finish, the door was pulled open.
Jackson stood there, his gaze sharp as a blade towards Harry.
"You talk too much."
Harry looked innocent; he was just answering her. How was that too much talking?
He mentioned Jackson's injury to make Lillian feel sorry for him.
Did it hurt Jackson's pride?
Thinking this, Harry quickly said, "I didn't mean to show off, Mrs. Frane. Mr. Frane is stronger than me. He got hurt because he was too worried about you, only focusing on finding you in the villa..."
Before Harry could finish, Jackson slammed the door, shutting him out.
