Chapter 305 Simply Because I'm Her Father
Daisy paused, and Lyra said in a low voice, "You know why! Lillian is carrying Jackson's child, your grandchild. That child is not a tool to save Jeffrey! Stop those thoughts right now!"
Lyra knew Daisy was hoping that Lillian's unborn child, Taylor, could be a match for Jeffrey and completely cure his illness.
Treating Taylor as a tool for saving a life would be unfair to Taylor, Lillian, and Jackson!
When Taylor was born, given Lillian's feelings for Jeffrey, she would definitely volunteer for a blood type test, even if no one mentioned it.
If the blood type would match, it would be good. If it wouldn't, there was no need to bear guilt or disappointment.
Lyra didn't want Lillian to bear undue pressure when she got pregnant. Pregnancy was difficult, and Lillian required sensitivity and care.
Lyra scolded, "Saving Jeffrey is not Jackson and Lillian's responsibility. You are not to mention this again before the child is born! Do you hear me?"
She stared sternly at Daisy, and Daisy nodded and said, "I understand, Mom."
Lyra could see that Daisy's agreement was insincere, so she continued to admonish her, "When Jackson had his accident, you made a terrible mistake that deeply wounded him. After all these years, your relationship hasn't healed. Now, using his child as a mere pawn to save Jeffrey's life? is that how you truly see things? Jackson can't bear another heartbreak, even if he's your son! Consider the impact of your actions!"
When Daisy heard Lyra mention the past, her face turned blanched.
Thinking about the past, Daisy thought of Lillian again, who always opposed her.
Daisy's face showed regret and resentment as she murmured, "Star was perfect in every way and close to me. If she had survived that year, she and Jackson would have..."
Before she could finish, Lyra gave her a fierce glare.
Daisy shut her mouth, but Lyra, reminded of the past, also looked tired and sad. She closed her eyes and said nothing more.
In Jackson's ward, after Lyra took Daisy away, Lillian remained silent.
"What's wrong?" Jackson pulled her back into his arms, looked down, and asked.
Lillian felt uncomfortable because of Daisy's words.
She cared deeply for Jeffrey and wanted to save him.
However, Taylor was also her precious child, and she didn't want Taylor to be seen merely as a hope or tool to save Jeffrey.
She wanted Taylor to be a child who came into the world purely because of the love and expectations of Jackson and her, not for anyone else.
Lillian didn't know if Jackson had brought her back from the airport just because she was carrying Taylor, who might save Jeffrey.
"Jackson, if Taylor and Jeffrey's blood types don't match, will you be disappointed?" Lillian's eyelashes trembled as she looked up.
Jackson sensed her unease, held her in his arms, and gently brushed her worried brow with his fingers, saying, "Are you being silly?"
Lillian blinked.
Jackson poked her cheeks again before he said, "Taylor is our child. I look forward to her birth simply because I'm her father. It has nothing to do with anyone or anything else. Don't take Daisy's words to heart and overthink it, okay?"
Lillian nodded, and a smile returned to her face. She said, "But I also hope Taylor can save Jeffrey."
She suddenly remembered something and tugged at Jackson's shirt, asking, "Where's my phone?"
Jackson had confiscated Lillian's phone earlier and hadn't returned it to her.
