Chapter 285 She Believed

Lillian stood dazed, staring at Terry at the doorway. She felt a heavy sense of disappointment and embarrassment.

"Terry, why is it you? I'm sorry." Lillian apologized as she furrowed her brow.

This was her and Jackson's bedroom. It was quite odd for Terry to barge in without knocking.

The next moment, Terry explained, "Mrs. Frane, Mr. Frane was attacked yesterday and severely injured. He was in surgery all night and is now in the ICU. Please go and see him. Otherwise, you may never see him again."

Terry had been assigned by Jackson to act as a psychological counselor for a day, surrounded by Star Group employees, and he was utterly overwhelmed.

He now just wanted Jackson to quickly get Lillian back so his mental state could stabilize a bit.

Thus, Terry exaggerated. He even bit his tongue, and tears fell from his eyes.

Lillian stared at him blankly and froze.

But she quickly sneered and said, "Terry, what has Jackson done now? Did he plan this with you? The security in Miracalia is excellent. How could he be attacked so easily?"

She thought, 'It's impossible! Only Jackson can cause someone to lose their life. If something happened to him, everyone in Miracalia would know. It can't be this quiet. Jackson must have spent last night with Wendy again. He used to be open about it, but now he's learned to hide it. I must not panic! I absolutely must not believe it.'

Seeing Lillian's face full of anger and coldness, Terry prayed for Jackson.

He insisted, "Mrs. Frane, it's all true. If you don't believe me, you can watch this video."

Terry stepped forward and handed his phone to Lillian.

"Mr. Frane was on his way home from work yesterday and remembered that you used to love Hershey's chocolate candies and cheese chips. So, he went to buy them himself, but he was attacked as he came out of the store."

As Terry spoke, Lillian had already taken the phone and opened the video.

The video seemed to have been captured unintentionally from across the street and was shaky.

But Lillian immediately recognized Jackson's tall, slender figure carrying a box of candies as he emerged from Hershey.

He was still wearing the dark gray suit he had on when he left home yesterday. He lowered his head as if adjusting the knot on the candy box.

At that moment, a woman in a coat suddenly bumped into him, and Jackson visibly stiffened for a moment.

Then he abruptly pushed the woman away, but he also staggered back several steps. The woman, who had been pushed away, raised her hand again and lunged at Jackson.

The blade in her hand glinted.

Screams erupted around them, and the bodyguards were alerted, quickly rushing forward to pin the woman to the ground.

Jackson, however, was kneeling on one knee, clutching his abdomen, still holding the candy box in his other hand.

The video ended abruptly, and Lillian's face turned pale. She swayed, and the phone fell to the ground.

She thought, 'Jackson was really stabbed! How could he be dying? I still have so much to say to him. Before he left home yesterday, I have even argued with him. This can't be happening!'

Lillian suddenly turned and ran outside, not even putting on her slippers properly.

Cynthia and Terry caught up with her and helped her put on a thick coat.

On the way to the hospital, Lillian was extremely anxious, her face ashen.

The image of Jackson kneeling on one knee, clutching his abdomen, with bright red blood dripping, flashed before her eyes.

In the video, all around were the sounds of screams.

Lillian took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down, and asked Terry in a trembling voice, "Who was that crazy woman? Was she taken to the police station?"

"Mrs. Frane, you should ask Mr. Frane about that later," Terry hesitated to say.
