Chapter 255 Conducting a Paternity Test

Such a fuss utterly exhausted Lyra . Observing the obvious partiality of Martin and Daisy, she felt both frustrated and helpless. With outsiders present, who were also trying to persuade her, she couldn't do much more, so her anger gradually subsided.

"Jackson, take Wendy to the ward quickly and find a doctor to check on her. We can't afford for anything serious to happen," Daisy urged.

Seeing Wendy so weak that she could barely keep her eyes open, Daisy was worried and anxious. After all, the child in Wendy's womb was Jeffrey's hope for survival.

Martin also spoke in a stern voice, "Stop making a scene here and get her out of here quickly."

Just as Jackson was about to step forward, Lyra suddenly spoke up, "Wait!"

Everyone turned to look at Lyra, but she turned her head to look at Lillian standing in the corner. She reached out and pulled Lillian back to her side, then looked at Wendy in Jackson's arms, saying, "I may be old, and my words may go unheard, but I have not lost my mind. I cannot allow the unclear child to mix into the Frane family! Ms. Sivan, since you insisted the child is Jackson's, let's do an amniocentesis and a paternity test."

Lyra no longer insisted on Wendy having an abortion but demanded an amniocentesis for her.

Wendy's expression showed a moment of panic, then turned sad as she asked hesitantly, "Mrs. Lyra Frane, what kind of person do you think I am? Why do you have to humiliate me like this?"

Lillian hadn't expected Lyra to suddenly bring up the paternity test. The child wasn't Jackson's, so Wendy naturally didn't dare to do the test.

Martin and Daisy wouldn't oppose the paternity test. Instead, they would support it wholeheartedly.

Lillian glanced at Lyra, who patted her hand reassuringly.

Then Lyra's face darkened. She frowned disdainfully at Wendy and asked, "Stop crying! Haven't you always claimed the child is Jackson's? Why are you afraid now?"

Daisy also wanted Wendy to do the paternity test to confirm the child was indeed Jackson's. She even wanted to ask the doctor if the amniocentesis could be used to match with Jeffrey. Hearing this, she immediately said to Wendy, "Wendy, don't be afraid. Amniocentesis is very simple. We'll find the best doctor for you. Once the paternity test confirms the child is Jackson's, no one can harm him."

Martin also spoke sternly, "In that case, let's proceed to the operating room."

There was no way Wendy could undergo amniocentesis. She clutched Jackson's sleeve and cried. "Jackson, I don't want to. I'm afraid of the pain. My stomach hurts so much right now! I'm dizzy and nauseous. I almost had a miscarriage a few days ago. If I undergo amniocentesis now, will I miscarry? I'm so scared."

Hearing her mention the near-miscarriage, Daisy hesitated, looked at Lyra, and said, "Mom, maybe we should..."

Lyra, however, was not so easily swayed and interrupted Daisy, "Whether she will miscarry is for the doctor to decide. If her condition truly isn't suitable for the procedure, the doctor will naturally stop it! Doctor Virgil, you will personally perform the procedure."

Virgil, an authority in obstetrics and gynecology, stepped forward and said, "Mrs. Lyra Frane, rest assured. I will ensure Ms. Sivan's safety."

At this point, Wendy's anxiety was futile, so she could only look tearfully at Jackson.

Lillian was also watching Jackson, feeling somewhat pleased. At this moment, she wanted to see how he would continue to protect and tolerate Wendy.

"Jackson, just leave Ms. Sivan to the doctor. Don't make Lyra angry again," Susan said.
