Chapter 444
Jackson picked up the unconscious Lillian, and from a distance, Gemma saw and rushed over.
Just as Jackson was about to close the car door, she stopped him. "Jackson, what are you doing?"
"Mrs. Gemma Frane, you've had a long day. Go home and rest. We'll handle this," Jackson said.
Jackson didn't look at Gemma, just adjusted Lillian in his arms.
Gemma frowned. "Jackson, you know Lillian's temper. You'll regret forcing her like this!"
Jackson finally looked at Gemma, gently stroking Lillian's hair. "I just know people in love should be together."
This didn't sound like Jackson, and Gemma was shocked, instinctively letting go of his hand.
By the time she realized, Jackson had closed the car door, and the car sped away.
Lillian had a nightmare and woke up feeling heavy and groggy.
As she slowly regained consciousness, she opened her eyes. The curtains were open, but the room was dimly lit.
She closed her eyes again, feeling a suffocating discomfort in her throat.
"Are you uncomfortable? Get up and eat something, okay?" Jackson's gentle voice came from the sofa opposite the bed. He stood up and walked to her side, looking down at her.
His presence was strong, and Lillian sensed his gaze as soon as she woke up.
She ignored him, kept her eyes closed, and didn't respond.
Jackson's expression didn't change. "You haven't eaten all day. Even if you're not hungry, Taylor will be."
Lillian felt weak, her mouth bitter, and her mood terrible.
Perhaps she had been hungry for too long, she didn't feel hungry and had no appetite.
Annoyed, she turned over and tried to pull the blanket over her head, but Jackson grabbed her arm.
Jackson's voice turned cold. "Lillian! Are you planning to never look at me or talk to me again?"
Lillian opened her eyes, meeting his intense gaze with indifference.
"Get out," Lillian said coldly.
Jackson's breathing became heavy, and his jaw tightened. "Lillian!"
"Didn't you bring Star back? Then go take care of her. You could have taken her to the wedding today; I wouldn't mind if you swapped brides. Just leave me alone," Lillian said resentfully.
The rejection in Lillian's eyes was clear; she was genuinely pushing him away.
It seemed she really didn't care about him anymore, as she said such things so casually.
Jackson's grip on her arm trembled slightly, his face turning pale.
In the end, he couldn't be harsh with her. "I'll take that as you speaking out of anger."
Lillian curled up on her side, closing her eyes again, not wanting to argue.
Jackson looked at her silent, resistant back and spoke again, "The doctor said Shirley might wake up tonight. If you don't want to go to the hospital, just lie here."
Lillian finally reacted, propping herself up.
"Will you let me go to the hospital?" she asked skeptically.
Jackson pressed his lips together, suppressing his irritation, and nodded. "I just don't want a divorce. I have no intention of imprisoning you. Get up and eat, and I'll go to the hospital with you."
Lillian stared at Jackson, pondering his words.
Jackson felt frustrated. "You don't believe a word I say, do you?"
"Your credibility with me is zero," she said harshly.
Jackson choked, but fortunately, Lillian got out of bed.
Evelyn had already prepared food, keeping it in the dining room in case Lillian woke up hungry.
As Lillian walked into the dining room, Evelyn greeted her warmly.
