Chapter 573

Flora threw up her hands. "I was with Ophelia, and she's cool! She even got me a strawberry cake! So sweet!"

Anouk shot a look at Lillian, then stepped up, frowning, and snatched the cake from Flora.

"Grandma, how many times do I gotta tell you not to eat stuff from strangers? What if it's drugged? You could get snatched, and you'd never see Grandpa or us again."

Flora probably had dementia; she was like a kid now.

Anouk's scolding left Flora looking all confused and scared, making Lillian feel kinda bad.

Lillian grabbed Flora's hand and told Anouk, "Sorry, it was my fault"

Anouk was about to say more, but Ambrose cut her off with a deep voice.

"Anouk, you didn't watch Grandma. We found her, so let's drop it."

Anouk nodded, tossed the cake in the trash, and turned back to Lillian. "Thanks for looking after my grandma. Ambrose, let's go. Grandpa's still worried."

Ambrose stayed put and pointed at Anouk, introducing her to Lillian, "My sister, Anouk."

Then he turned to Anouk, "This is Lillian, a friend of mine. Remember three months ago at the bar? Lillian saved you."

Anouk looked surprised, then at Lillian again. After a moment, she smiled and nodded.

"So you helped me when I was drugged and drunk. I wasn't all there that night and didn't recognize you. Thanks for that."

Three months ago, Lillian had saved a drugged girl at a bar and went to the police station to give a statement before leaving.

Lillian had almost forgotten about it. That night, Anouk had heavy makeup and wore a sexy bodycon dress.

But now, Anouk had a fresh and pure makeup look, looking bright and gentle, appearing four or five years younger than that night.

Lillian hadn't recognized her either.

She smiled and nodded at Anouk. "What a coincidence, Ms. Kelly. You're welcome."

Anouk then said, "I should have thanked you in person, but my grandpa and parents took me back to Seaspring Valley City immediately after they found out I almost got into trouble in Miracalia. But I did ask Ambrose to thank you for me."

Anouk looked at Ambrose, took his arm, and said, "Ambrose, did you thank Ms. Young properly for me?"

Ambrose pulled his arm out of her grasp and was about to speak when a voice suddenly interrupted.

"So, Mr. Kelly's care for my wife during this time was all at Ms. Kelly's request?"

The familiar voice hadn't been heard for some time.

Lillian's back instinctively stiffened. When she turned her head, Jackson had already stepped forward.

Jackson had deep-set eyes, a high nose, and thin lips. His perfectly tailored dark gray suit accentuated his reserved and deep demeanor.

Despite the crowded airport, he seemed to exude a unique charm, with a kind of dazzling aura.

Lillian couldn't understand. It had only been a week since they last met, and he still had the same familiar features. Why did Jackson suddenly seem different, almost stunningly so?

When Jackson's gaze fell on her, she quickly looked away.

And, they were just a few days away from officially getting their divorce papers, yet he still called her his wife without any guilt.

But Jackson clearly felt no guilt, because the next second, he naturally placed his large hand on Lillian's waist and pulled her into his arms.

His palm was slightly warm, pressing through the fabric onto her skin, and his familiar woody scent filled the air.

Lillian stiffened slightly and glared at him.

But Jackson didn't look at her. His large hand caressed her waist as he said to Ambrose, "My daughter just kicked me. She's so smart, she knows I'm here even in her mom's belly."
