Chapter 736

There was no one else around, and Star clearly didn't want to keep up her usual kind and understanding facade.

Her eyes were mocking, "Yes! You're absolutely right, I am in love with Jackson, I love him deeply!"

Star slightly raised her chin, staring at Lillian with eyes full of provocation and challenge.

She knew Lillian hadn't gotten over Jackson and wanted to see Lillian get angry and lose her mind.

However, Lillian's expression was very calm, she even rolled her eyes.

Star's intentions were obvious to anyone.

"Are you done?" Lillian took a step to leave, as if Star had just farted.

Being so ignored, Star's face turned ugly, and she blocked Lillian again, questioning her. "Lillian, why are you here?"

"That's none of your business."

Star raised her hand and grabbed Lillian again, "You've divorced Jackson and still come to pester him, of course it's my business! Because I am Jackson's future wife!"

Lillian laughed, "Self-proclaimed? Do Lyra and Jackson know?"

That day at the Frane Mansion, Lyra and Jackson's attitudes couldn't have been clearer.

If it weren't for that day, with Lyra and Jackson not giving Star any face in front of Lillian.

Listening to Star speak so confidently now, Lillian might have been confused and believed her.

Lillian marveled at Star's confidence, while Star's face turned cold.

"Jackson and I grew up together, I would even give up my life for him, and I became disabled, suffering for so many years, and I did it all willingly!

"Lillian, what have you ever done for Jackson? You enjoyed years of wealth and luxury in the Frane family without giving anything in return, what right do you have to compete with me? I'm back, if you have any conscience, you should stay far away from Jackson and give back what rightfully belongs to me!"

Lillian was stunned by Star's absurd reasoning.

She had already been disgusted enough by Anouk's family today and didn't want to deal with Star anymore.

Moreover, she was here to discuss cooperation, not to argue with Star.

"I still say, go talk to Jackson." Lillian pulled her hand back, her expression indifferent.

If Star was trying to provoke her with these words, she was sorely mistaken.

The day she divorced Jackson, she had already given up the position of Jackson's wife.

If Star could take that position, then that was her ability.

But the more indifferent Lillian was, the more angry and jealous Star became.

She pulled at Lillian forcefully, angrily mocking her.

"Lillian, stop pretending to be so noble. You've divorced him but still keep appearing in front of Jackson, aren't you just playing hard to get?"

Lillian thought Star was out of her mind. If she was playing hard to get, why insist on the divorce in the first place?

Wouldn't that be redundant?

Lillian forcefully pulled her hand back again, but Star shoved something into her palm.

"Don't think Jackson's gentle attitude towards you means he still loves you. It's just because he feels guilty about your dead child. Take a good look at what this is!"

Lillian looked down and raised her hand, seeing a cufflink in her palm.

It was quite exquisite, with a sapphire in the middle, surrounded by platinum, and engraved with the letters L&J.

It was the initials of Lillian and Jackson's names.

This cufflink was a gift Lillian had given Jackson for his eighteenth birthday.

Lillian bought this pair of cufflinks with all the money she had at the time. She had earned it by tutoring classmates for half a year, just to afford this custom order.

But compared to Jackson's other cufflinks, this pair was still too shabby.

She wanted to celebrate Jackson's coming of age. She didn't expecting him to wear them often, just occasionally would make her happy.

Who knew that when Jackson received them and learned that Lillian had earned the money by tutoring, sacrificing a lot of her rest time, he scolded her.

Lillian felt quite wronged at the time, sulking even when she went to bed, until the next morning when she came out of the dining room and saw Jackson coming down the stairs, fastening the cufflinks as he walked.

Later, for a while, Jackson wore those cufflinks to many important occasions, even though they were the cheapest among all his cufflinks.

After their relationship gradually soured, Lillian never saw those cufflinks again.

She thought Jackson had long since thrown them away.

"How did this end up with you?"

Suddenly triggered by memories, Lillian's fingers trembled slightly as she looked up coldly at Star.

Seeing her sour expression, Star smiled.

She leaned closer to Lillian, "It's such a personal item to a man, and under what circumstances would it end up in another woman's hands? Lillian, you can't seriously think that after you left for over four months, Jackson was just waiting for you, right?"

Star's voice was coquettish, laced with mockery.

She was just short of explicitly saying she had slept with Jackson.

Lillian stared coldly at Star, then laughed. "So what? You're proud of taking over a man I got tired of? And you really think I'll believe anything you say?"

Star chuckled and reached to take the cufflink, saying. "Still saying you don't care, you should see how ugly your face looks now."

But Lillian suddenly closed her palm.

Star frowned at Lillian, "Give it back."

Lillian raised an amused eyebrow, "I am the original owner of this cufflink, how can I give it back?"

"But you're not the owner now!" Star reached out to grab it.

Lillian looked at her with a half-smile, "Why so suddenly frantic? Star, since you know the origin of this cufflink, why keep one? Do you take it out often to annoy yourself?"

Star sneered, "Of course, I was going to return it to Jackson, it's basic courtesy."

Lillian directly put the cufflink in her pocket. "How about I return it for you?"

Star was shocked, she thought someone as proud as Lillian, seeing such an important personal item with her, would be so angry she'd lose her mind.

Lillian should have believed it immediately.

But Lillian was actually going to take the cufflink to confront Jackson?

That couldn't happen.

Star reached out forcefully to snatch it back, angrily saying, "It ended up with me; of course, I should return it personally! You... ah!"

As they were pulling, Star suddenly screamed and stepped back, falling to the ground.

The glove Star had been wearing on her right hand was also pulled off, falling to the ground.

Star's glove was specially made, with padding where her fingers were missing, usually covering her deformities.

Now suddenly pulled off, and with Star falling to the ground, her deformed fingers were scraped, instantly bleeding.

Star's screams echoed in the underground parking lot.

Lillian was unmoved, looking down at her. "Star, stop asking for a beating every time!"
