Chapter 913
Dominic furrowed his brow, staring at Jackson in utter shock.
"Jackson, what are you talking about? Logan isn't my grandson? Not a member of the Price family? How is that even possible? Logan looks so much like Henry; how could he not be one of us? And if Logan isn't a Price, then who is he?"
Jackson's face darkened, anger radiating from him.
Harry knew exactly what had set Jackson off.
With a chuckle, he quickly interjected.
"Mr. Price, saying Logan looks like Henry, is just ridiculous. We've all seen Henry. Logan's features don't resemble the Price family at all; he looks exactly like Mr. Frane!"
Logan indeed didn't resemble Henry, but as a small child, his features weren't fully developed, making it easy to overlook. Now, claiming Logan looked like Henry was absurd.
Dominic glared at Harry, "How could Logan look like Jackson? What are you implying?"
His expression was a mix of anger and humiliation. Jackson's lips curled into a mocking smile.
"Logan is my son, of course, he looks like me!"
Dominic was stunned, "What? Jackson, what are you talking about? Have you forgotten? We did a DNA test on the amniotic fluid when Wendy was pregnant. The child she was carrying was Henry's! How could Logan be your son?"
Jackson pulled out the paternity test results and handed them to Dominic.
"Wendy was indeed carrying Henry's child, but that night, Wendy and Lilian gave birth around the same time. The Price family's child was born prematurely and with complications. Despite efforts to save him, he didn't survive. Someone switched Taylor with him. You know who that person is, don't you?"
Jackson's gaze bore into Dominic, who quickly masked his hatred.
Of course, he knew who had switched Logan.
The incident that night was orchestrated by Ruby and the Price family.
Wendy had given birth to the Price family's only heir, but the child died shortly after birth. While Dominic was still grieving, Ruby's people brought him another child, claiming it was Lilian's.
Dominic was consumed with rage. Why should the Price family's only heir die while Lilian, who had caused so much pain, managed to give birth safely?
It was unfair.
The Price family's downfall was Jackson's doing, so Dominic wanted Jackson to feel the same pain of losing a child.
Ruby's people had brought the child, saying he could do as he pleased with him.
Dominic had considered killing the child but decided to raise him as the child of the Price family instead. This would not only maintain the Price family's lineage but also give him leverage over Ruby.
Raising Jackson's child in the Price Mansion meant he could control him, and the child could be a bargaining chip with the Frane family.
If anything happened to Ruby, Dominic could claim ignorance, as he hadn't orchestrated the switch.
Facing Jackson's accusations, Dominic turned pale. "No way! Logan is my grandson! What do you mean someone switched Logan and Taylor? Jackson, this is crazy! If Logan is your son, bring him here. I won't believe it unless we do another paternity test!"
Dominic shouted, unable to accept that the Price family's child was suddenly someone else's.
Jackson's lips pressed into a thin line, his voice cold. "You can discuss your doubts with the police."
It was confirmed that Gemma's family had kidnapped Taylor, and Gemma's daughter-in-law, Anais, was a maid for the Price family.
Lila had taken Logan, who was actually Taylor.
Dominic protested, "What evidence do you have that links me to the kidnapping? Just because Anais works for us? I want to report that Anais kidnapped my grandson!"
Zephyr calmly replied, "Please cooperate with our investigation. If you're not involved, you'll be released soon. I'm sure you want us to catch the kidnappers and rescue Logan."
Zephyr waved his hand, and officers moved in to take Dominic away.
Outside, a crowd had gathered, taking photos and videos as Dominic was led out.
Jackson followed, watching the police car leave before instructing Terry, "Make sure the Price family gets some media attention. Notify Mike to proceed."
Terry nodded, "Everything's set. Don't worry."
Jackson planned to have the Price family questioned. If nothing came of it, at least they wouldn't interfere with the search for Taylor.
In Seaspring Valley City, Ambrose exited the police station and opened the car door to find Lilian asleep in the backseat, exhaustion evident on her face.
Ambrose paused, signaling the driver to stay quiet. He gently covered Lilian with a blanket.
Despite his careful movements, Lilian stirred as the blanket touched her, murmuring, "Taylor!"
"Had a nightmare?" Ambrose sighed helplessly.
Lilian blinked at him, finally coming to her senses. She quickly sat up and asked, "No, how did the discussions go? Were you able to trace the source of their fake identities?"
Ambrose nodded, "It might take some time."
Lilian relaxed upon hearing this, then grabbed a thermos and opened it, urging Ambrose, "Your stomach isn't well. Don't wait until we get home to eat. You've been busy since last night, and it's not good to stay on an empty stomach for so long. Besides, we need to pick up Ruby later."
Ambrose didn't refuse her kindness, taking the thermos and utensils she handed him and quickly eating.
An hour later.
Lilian and Ambrose arrived at the hospital. When they got there, Ruby was already dressed in a clean striped hospital gown, sitting on the bed surrounded by doctors conducting examinations.
If it weren't for the handcuff on one of Ruby's wrists, securing her to the bed, and the two plainclothes officers standing outside the room, Ruby would have looked just like her old self.
Seeing Lilian and Ambrose enter, Ruby smirked. "You're here. Didn't sleep well last night? You both look terrible. And where's Mr. Frane? Oh, I forgot, he's probably busy searching the whole city, isn't he?"
Her arrogant demeanor made one want to punch her.
Lilian's expression remained unchanged as she sat down. "Ruby, I advise you not to be too cocky. If something goes wrong during the surgery, I can't guarantee your safety."
Ruby's smile faded, her voice turning cold. "Lilian, don't forget, if I die, your son won't come back either! And where's Jackson?"
Ruby's eyes grew dark and menacing.
Lilian stared back. "You're in no position to be so concerned."
Ruby's eyes were filled with chilling coldness. "Yes, I'm in this state, but you still have to obediently bring me here for a kidney transplant, don't you?"
Lilian's hand clenched tightly at her side, visibly angered. Ruby turned her head away, humming a tune, clearly pleased with herself.
Ambrose patted Lilian's shoulder, offering silent comfort.
The doctors soon finished their examination and stepped back, addressing Ambrose and Lilian. "Her condition is suitable for surgery. The kidney failure is severe, and the operation should be done as soon as possible."
Ruby immediately said, "Then let's do it today!"
She was a person who valued her life greatly.
Lilian remained silent, clearly unwilling.
Ruby narrowed her eyes, her face cold. "Don't forget, this was our agreement. Are you planning to go back on your word? Now that you've confirmed Taylor is with me, if you don't help me with the kidney transplant, believe me, tomorrow you'll find one of your son's severed fingers at the Kelly Manor."
Lilian was so enraged by Ruby's words that she rushed forward and grabbed Ruby's collar. "You dare! Ruby, if you touch a single finger of Taylor, I'll cut off all ten of yours!"
Ruby looked at Lilian's bloodshot eyes and her distressed state. Instead of getting angry at the threat, she seemed even more relaxed. "Don't be so agitated. As long as you do as I say and ensure my safe passage abroad, your precious Taylor will return to you. Now, let go!"
She glanced down, signaling Lilian.
Lilian was shaking with anger, her fingers trembling. Ambrose stepped forward, pulling her away.
Ruby watched Lilian, who had turned away, tears streaming down her face, and felt a sense of disdain.
She thought Lilian and her useless mother, Ophelia, were the same. Despite being inferior to her in every way, they were loved and cherished by so many. Why?
Ambrose looked at Ruby, his voice stern. "We can arrange the surgery immediately."
Ruby turned back, sneering, "See, isn't it better to be straightforward? I'll need to stay in the hospital for a week after the surgery. Once I recover, you can arrange for me to go abroad, and I'll return your precious child."
Ruby smirked, adding, "By the way, Jackson went back to Miracalia, didn't he? What, thinking the most dangerous place is the safest? How could I hide someone in Miracalia? Don't waste your efforts. I want to see Jackson here in the hospital tomorrow, or I'll harm your precious Taylor."
Ambrose raised an eyebrow coldly, "If Taylor isn't in Miracalia, why are you so nervous? Why insist on Jackson being here?"
Ruby's expression was mocking, as if taunting Ambrose, "Believe what you want. You're not going to find him."
Lilian's body trembled slightly, almost swaying.
She seemed close to breaking under the pressure and anger. Ambrose gave Ruby one last look before guiding Lilian out.
As soon as they were outside the room, with the door closed, Lilian pulled away from Ambrose. She glanced back at the room, her eyes cold and mocking, her expression steady, without tears or signs of breakdown.
A few hours later, Ruby was being wheeled towards the operating room.
Before entering, Ruby looked at Lilian, her eyes filled with distrust, "Don't forget, if the surgery is successful, you might find your son!"
Lilian scoffed, "Scared?"
Ruby laughed coldly, turning her gaze away.
As she was wheeled into the operating room, she lifted her head slightly to look down the hallway.
Lilian crossed her arms, "I just made a call, you heard it too. I kindly informed Kenneth and the Lawson family about your surgery today. No one came. Your lover, your family, they've all abandoned you. Ruby, you're pathetic."
An hour ago, Lilian had called Kenneth and the Lawson Villa from Ruby's room, informing them of Ruby's surgery.
Ruby hadn't asked Lilian to do this, but she hadn't stopped her either, showing she hoped they would come. But it was laughable; no one did.
Ruby's face turned pale, closing her eyes.
Lilian didn't let up, smiling, "You wanted your parents' approval so badly, but now they see you as a burden, a disgrace. And Kenneth, you thought you stole him from my mother. Sorry to disappoint, but he was drunk a few days ago, crying at my mother's grave, begging for forgiveness. My grandfather has banned him from the Kelly family cemetery, and he's heartbroken. He might still be kneeling at the Kelly Manor's gate, seeking forgiveness. Ruby, you're such a failure. Even if the kidney transplant succeeds, what then?"
"Shut up!"
Ruby's eyes snapped open, glaring at Lilian with hatred.
Lilian smirked, watching Ruby's pale face as she was wheeled into the operating room.
