Chapter 887

Lillian and Ambrose exchanged a look. Ambrose broke the silence.

"I'll go check it out."

Lillian was worried, afraid the noise would wake Flora, who had just fallen asleep, and disturb Oberon.

Although they were fine for now, constant commotion was bad for their health.

"I'll go with you," she said.

Ambrose nodded without saying much.

After all, they were at the Kelly Manor, surrounded by their people, so there was no real danger.

Together, they stepped out of the foyer and walked to the courtyard. From there, they could see the front gate where several security guards were arguing with someone.

Upon closer inspection, they realized it was Kenneth.

Kenneth had also spotted Lillian. He frowned and immediately shouted in their direction.

"Lillian! It's your dad!"

Lillian didn't want his shouting to alert Oberon, and clearly, the security guards were hesitant to rough up Kenneth.

She quickly walked over, her expression cold as she stared at Kenneth.

"What are you doing here?"

"Lillian, tell them to let me through!"

Kenneth gestured to the guards blocking his way.

Lillian chuckled, "Why should I let them?"

"Of course, so I can come in and talk. I have a lot to say to you. Besides, this is my home too. What right do they have to stop me?"

Lillian's lips curled into a mocking smile as she looked at Kenneth.

"Your home? Who are you in this family?"

"Son-in-law," Kenneth replied, his face grim. He couldn't bring himself to say "live-in son-in-law," as even uttering the term felt humiliating.

Lillian scoffed, showing no mercy.

"Wrong. From the day you married Ruby, you ceased to be a part of the Kelly family. Now, you're legally married to Ruby. Don't come here trying to scam us."

Ambrose added coldly, "You're at the wrong place. You should go to the police station to find Ruby or visit the Lawson family to see your in-laws. By the way, your father-in-law and mother-in-law are in the hospital. Need me to arrange a guide for you?"

Kenneth's face turned red with shame. He felt humiliated but forced a stiff smile, reaching out to grab Lillian's arm.

"Lillian, I know I've made mistakes in the past, but I'm still your biological father. Let me in. Things aren't as simple as they seem. Let me explain, please?"

Kenneth even looked pleadingly at her.

Lillian found it laughable. She pursed her lips and said,

"You only came here because Ruby got arrested, Ronan is in the emergency room, and the whole internet is mocking and condemning you. You think if I, as your daughter and the Kelly family heir, say a few words in your defense, people will believe you weren't involved in Ruby and the Lawson family's dirty deeds, right?"

Kenneth wasn't here because he realized his past mistakes; he was simply forced by circumstances.

Lillian's eyes were filled with undisguised mockery and sharpness.

Kenneth's expression darkened even more, but he couldn't afford to lose everything along with the Lawson family. He couldn't let himself be completely ruined. If he couldn't get Oberon and Lillian's forgiveness, even if he wasn't directly involved in the Lawson family's mess, public opinion would still destroy him.

Suppressing his anger, he looked at Lillian with a sad and innocent expression.

"Lillian, your prejudice and misunderstanding towards me are too deep. I was completely deceived by Ruby. I didn't realize she was so malicious and cunning. Even Oberon, as shrewd as he is, was fooled by her innocent act. I..."

Lillian had no interest in hearing Kenneth's excuses.

She interrupted him, "Even if you were deceived, you took my mother's shares to support the Lawson family. Isn't that your own doing? Mr. Castillo, we gave you a choice today. Do you need me to remind you?"

Oberon didn't show up initially because he wanted to see who had truly become the Lawson family's lackey. He also wanted to give all shareholders a chance to reconsider their stance. Given the circumstances, they had the opportunity to choose again. But Kenneth didn't hesitate and firmly sided with the Lawson family.

Lillian looked at Kenneth, "And you really didn't know what kind of person your wife was?"

Someone could pretend for ten or twenty years, but they couldn't always keep up the act. Ruby was Kenneth's wife, and they had lived together for nearly twenty years. Lillian couldn't believe Kenneth hadn't noticed Ruby's true nature. He was just pretending.

"Lillian, no. I didn't know Anouk wasn't you. Ruby treated Anouk so well, even donated a kidney to your mother. I felt grateful and guilty towards her. She seduced me, and as a normal man, I developed feelings for her. It's only natural..."

Lillian was growing impatient when she noticed another car had arrived outside the courtyard. The back door opened, and a familiar, tall figure stepped out. The man walked briskly towards them, carrying two takeout boxes. He was in such a hurry, focused entirely on Lillian, that he didn't seem to notice Kenneth blocking the entrance.

He bumped into Kenneth, causing the takeout boxes to spill, and the hot food splashed all over Kenneth. As steam rose, a foul smell followed. Kenneth cried out in pain, stomping his feet and shaking his suit jacket. But it was no use; the hot soup had soaked into his suit, leaving him a mess and utterly embarrassed.

Ambrose quickly pulled Lillian back several steps, avoiding the mess.

"Hot, hot!"

Kenneth shouted, his face covered in cold sweat. He glared at the culprit, "Are you blind? You..."

He turned to see Jackson's cold, sculpted face and his eyes filled with a murderous glare. Kenneth's face froze, his angry words cut off abruptly as if his throat had been slit.

"You did that on purpose! Where's your manners?"

Kenneth's lips trembled, his voice faltering.

Jackson raised an eyebrow and sneered, "Mr. Castillo, you were standing in the wrong place, blocking the entrance. You caused me to spill the food I brought for my girlfriend. I haven't even asked you to compensate me, and you dare to blame me?"

Kenneth was so furious that he almost laughed. The entrance was spacious, but Jackson had deliberately bumped into Kenneth, causing the hot, foul-smelling soup to spill all over him.

"You have no respect for your elders! This is outrageous!"

Kenneth felt sure he had blisters from the burns. His face pale, he glared at Jackson but couldn't bear the pain any longer. He turned back to Lillian.

"Lillian, I'm burned. Aren't you going to let them move aside so I can go in and rinse off with cold water?"

Lillian, covering her nose, stepped back about 15 feet. Hearing Kenneth's request, she shook her head, her hand still over her nose, and mumbled, "Not convenient, sorry."

Kenneth gritted his teeth. "Lillian, you're heartless. Your mother would be heartbroken to see you treat your own father like this."

Unable to bear the pain any longer, Kenneth turned and hurried to his car, which quickly drove away.

Lillian watched the car leave with a cold gaze, then turned to the two security guards with a smile.

"Please clean this up."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jackson glanced at Harry, who had followed them.

Harry stepped forward and addressed the lead security guard.

"Thank you for your hard work. The smell is quite strong, and it adds to your workload."

He handed over a stack of cash. "Here's a little something extra for you."

The security guard captain quickly declined. "No need, really. It's our duty."

The Kelly family had always treated them well, offering the highest salaries in Seaspring Valley City. The workload was light, and the family members were all very kind. They couldn't accept extra money for such a small task.

Harry smiled and said, "Mr. Frane spilled it on purpose. It would be rude not to tip. How about I buy you all a drink after your shift?"

Harry tried to negotiate.

Watching this, Lillian found it amusing and looked at Jackson.

"Is it really okay to bribe my security guards right in front of me and Ambrose?"

Jackson took a step forward. "I'm not bribing anyone. I genuinely feel bad."

He looked innocent, and Ambrose chuckled, clearly not buying it.

Ambrose raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Frane probably wants them to be less vigilant when he climbs over the wall tonight."

Hearing this, the security guard captain was even more reluctant to accept the tip.

Harry, unable to give away the tip, glanced at Jackson.

"Don't worry. Even if I do climb over the wall tonight, they won't catch me," Jackson said arrogantly.

Lillian glanced at him. "Even if you manage to climb in, I won't open the door or window for you."

Jackson was speechless.

Ambrose smirked and turned to the security guard captain.

"Since Mr. Frane insists, you can take it. Just make sure to keep an eye out tonight and don't let anyone sneak in."

The security guard captain accepted the money but was confused. Was Ambrose telling them to be lenient with Jackson or to be extra vigilant?

The smell was unbearable. Jackson had clearly prepared the soup specifically for Kenneth, adding something that made it extra foul.

"This smell is awful. Let's go inside," Ambrose said to Lillian, gesturing for her to go in.

Lillian nodded and looked at Jackson. She was about to tell him to leave when he pointed to his clothes.

"I'm dirty too. It's really uncomfortable. Can I take a shower and change into clean clothes?"

Lillian noticed that Jackson's suit pants were indeed splattered with soup.

"Mr. Frane, you're quite the schemer," Ambrose said, stopping and smiling.

He had thought Jackson was genuinely there to help with Kenneth, but it turned out he had ulterior motives to get into the Kelly Manor.

Given Oberon's current attitude towards Jackson, he wouldn't have let him in without a good reason.

Lillian knew Jackson had a severe cleanliness obsession, and the soup smelled terrible.

She looked at Ambrose. "Ambrose."

Meeting her clear, earnest gaze, Ambrose couldn't refuse. Besides, Jackson had indeed helped.

Without Jackson's intervention, Kenneth might have lingered and caused more trouble, which would have been bad for Lillian's reputation.

Ambrose turned away, saying, "I don't know anything."

As he left, Lillian stuck out her tongue and said to Jackson, "My grandparents are resting. Hurry up and clean up before they notice."

Jackson stepped into the Kelly Manor, feeling more accomplished than landing a big deal. It wasn't easy.

Lillian led him inside, and Jackson quickly caught up, grabbing her hand.

Lillian glanced around nervously. "Can you be more discreet? My grandpa hasn't approved yet."

If Oberon saw Jackson inside, he might get upset, and Lillian could get scolded too.

Lillian tried to pull her hand away, but Jackson intertwined his fingers with hers.

"Are you disgusted by me?"

He looked sad and pitiful, and Lillian was speechless.

"Why would I be disgusted by you?"

"Do you think I smell bad?"

Lillian laughed, leaning in to sniff Jackson.

He did have a strange odor.

She couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"You do smell bad, really bad."

Jackson watched her laugh, her eyes crinkling with joy. Even though she was teasing him, he felt happy and smiled.

"Ungrateful. I did this for you."

Lillian's laughter faded as she remembered Jackson's usual aversion to such things.

She looked up at him. "How did you come up with such a smelly soup?"

Jackson's lips curved. "I passed a snack shop when I heard Kenneth was coming. I helped you get rid of someone you didn't like. Don't I deserve a reward, my girlfriend?"

Jackson raised an eyebrow, and Lillian, smiling sweetly, stepped forward and hugged his lean waist.

"What are you two doing?!"

A familiar, angry voice boomed from above.
