Chapter 700
The restaurant was chosen by Lillian. It wasn't the highest-end restaurant in Miracalia, but it had a serene environment and the food was served quickly.
Lillian didn't eat much for breakfast, so she was genuinely hungry now.
Once the dishes were served, she focused on her meal, completely ignoring Jackson and Ambrose sitting on either side of her.
Perhaps it was the unpleasantness in the parking lot earlier, or maybe the two had reached some sort of understanding on the way to the restaurant, at the table, they didn't clash anymore and even chatted amicably about business matters, each maintaining their composure.
They took turns serving Lillian food and soup, equally attentive to her needs.
Ambrose served Lillian a bowl of soup and asked with concern, "Was your work this morning smooth?"
Lillian thought of the project Thalia had given her related to Star Group, and she paused slightly, "Yes, it was fine."
"Really?" Ambrose noticed her brief pause and asked again, not entirely reassured.
Jackson then placed a peeled shrimp on Lillian's plate and said, "Mr. Kelly, you probably don't know that Lillian has work experience. In her previous job, she was excellent in both social and work skills, so there's no need to worry excessively."
Lillian looked up and saw Jackson's smiling eyes.
Jackson was expressing his appreciation and trust in her.
Lillian secretly pursed her lips and continued eating, but a sudden surge of bitterness flooded her heart.
Jackson's words were sweet now, full of praise. But when she worked by his side before, she never heard him say a single word of appreciation or praise.
At that time, she longed for his recognition, both in work and emotionally.
Lillian suddenly felt sad and pathetic for her past self.
This also made her slightly angry because she realized Jackson could still easily influenced her emotions.
Ambrose looked at Jackson and smiled faintly, "Of course, I know she's excellent and capable, but enven though I know, I still worry about her. "
As he spoke, Ambrose also put on disposable gloves and peeled a shrimp for Lillian.
But unlike the steamed shrimp Jackson peeled, he peeled a spicy shrimp.
Jackson's lips curled slightly, "Mr. Kelly, if you care about her, how could you not know that she prefers mild flavors and especially doesn't like spicy food?"
Before Jackson's words even settled, Ambrose skillfully peeled another spicy shrimp and placed it on Lillian's plate.
The shrimp Ambrose had peeled earlier was gone, while the steamed shrimp Jackson had placed was still there.
Jackson's eyes showed a hint of surprise as he watched Lillian pick up the second shrimp peeled by Ambrose and eat it with enjoyment.
"Mr. Frane, people's tastes can change. Lillian is from Seaspring Valley City; how could she not like spicy food?" Ambrose said, placing a piece of spicy kale on Lillian's plate.
Lillian took a sip of soup and looked at Ambrose, saying, "You don't need to take care of me; you should eat too." She ate the kale Ambrose served her.
Jackson stared at Lillian, his expression somewhat dazed and gloomy.
Jackson didn't expect that in just four months, Lillian's taste preferences had changed.
He could tell that Lillian genuinely preferred spicy food now, not just eating it to show him.
He then thought that the Frane Family's overall taste was mild, and perhaps Lillian disliked it but was accommodating the Frane Family's preferences.
Lillian didn't dare to express her own preferences, and the only thing she dared to express was her love for him.
But he didn't believe her and repeatedly misunderstood and hurt her.
She couldn't be her true self in the Frane Family, but in the Kelly Family, she was the cherished lady.
This realization made Jackson's throat tighten.
Jackson collected his thoughts, silently picked up his utensils, and also ate the kale.
Lillian glanced at Jackson, her lips moved slightly as if she wanted to say something but didn't.
Jackson never used to eat spicy food.
Sure enough, after eating the spicy kale, he immediately picked up his water glass and took a couple of sips.
Lillian remained silent, knowing that drinking warm water couldn't neutralize the spice. He should drink milk instead.
However, Jackson just frowned slightly, put down the water glass, and picked up a piece of spicy beef.
Lillian noticed that he continued to eat spicy dishes and became unusually silent for the rest of the meal.
Lillian didn't know what was going on with him. She hesitated twice but ultimately didn't try to stop Jackson from eating spicy food or ask him about it.
She quickly finished her meal, put down her utensils, and stood up. "I'm full. I'm going to the restroom."
She left the private room, and Ambrose also put down his utensils, elegantly dabbed his lips with a napkin, and looked leisurely at Jackson, who had a thin layer of sweat on his forehead.
Ambrose said meaningfully, "Mr. Frane, you can't handle spicy food, so don't force yourself. After all, many things can't be forced."
Ambrose's words had a double meaning. He was clearly implying that Jackson and Lillian's relationship was over and trying to reconcile was futile.
Jackson's expression was cold as he slowly swallowed the spicy beef and then looked at Ambrose, "It's not up to you or me to decide."
Naturally, it was up to Lillian to decide.
Ambrose shook his head slightly, "Mr. Frane, Lillian now finds it difficult to even have a meal with you, let alone anything else."
Jackson didn't respond, his expression growing colder.
If Lillian found it too difficult now, he would wait.
He believed that one day, Lillian would no longer find it difficult and would be willing to return to him.
However, there was no need to discuss this with someone irrelevant.
Seeing that Jackson was unmoved, Ambrose's eyes darkened slightly, "She's already moved on, and you're the only one left behind. Why drag her back?"
Jackson's expression was indifferent as he stood up, "Are you sure she's completely moved on?"
With that, Jackson didn't give Ambrose a chance to respond and turned to leave the private room.
Meanwhile, Lillian came out of the restroom and didn't feel like returning to the private room.
She checked the time and thought about Shirley's contract signing today, wondering if it went smoothly. She headed to the terrace at the end of the hallway.
She called Shirley and learned that the contract signing went smoothly, and she got a top-tier star contract with one of the top five agents at The Kelly Media. Lillian was relieved.
After hanging up, Lillian pushed the door open and came in from the terrace, only to see a stroller parked at the corner not far ahead.
The stroller's railing was deep, so she couldn't see the baby inside, but two small hands occasionally reached out, grabbing, waving, and playing with the air. So cute and lively.
Lillian stared at this scene, frozen in place, her eyes suddenly welling up with tears.
