Chapter 222 The Truth Revealed
Lillian had previously trusted Barry's assurance that Max would receive superior medical care, in the hopes of his awakening.
When Barry gave his approval, Lillian believed him. However, she now started to question Barry and felt a sense of unease.
She lowered her head, a blush creeping from the back of her neck to her ears.
She realized she had misunderstood Jackson before. He had been considerate and looking out for her.
Jackson lowered his eyes and gazed at the soft, pink nape of Lillian's neck, the chill dissipating from his body.
Since childhood, whenever Lillian did something wrong and felt guilty, she would bow her head like a quail, blushing to the tips of her ears.
He raised his hand, his finger lightly grazing along Lillian's neck, causing a tingling sensation to spread from her neck down her spine.
Lillian shuddered, clutching her neck and lifting her head to meet Jackson's smiling eyes.
The smile disappeared in a flash, but Lillian had noticed it. Her expression momentarily froze, and she felt a sudden uneasiness, as if struck by an electric shock.
Despite that, we are divorced, so I cannot allow you to take care of Max. Have Terry manage Max's medical expenses each month and forward them to me, and I will transfer the funds to you," Lillian said softly as Jackson's handsome face once again turned cold.
"Do you think I need your meager medical expenses?" Jackson mocked lightly.
Jackson certainly didn't need it, but Lillian didn't want to owe him anymore.
She insisted, "This is my responsibility. There's no reason to push it onto you."
"Ask Terry if your medical expenses are enough to cover his overtime pay," Jackson said.
Lillian fell silent, wanting to say that Terry didn't have time and anyone would do. However, Jackson continued, "Max is also Wendy's brother."
In an instant, Lillian's blood ran cold, feeling utterly foolish. Wendy always pretended, even after returning to the Sivan Family, that she maintained a kind demeanor towards the Garcia family.
Over time, the bond between Mary and Wendy, the stepmother and stepdaughter, grew stronger than Mary's relationship with Wendy.
When Wendy married Jackson, Max was still Mrs. Frane's relative.
Upon realizing that Jackson had been with Wendy at the hospital, Lillian felt a heavy weight on her chest. She had been mistaken; Jackson was doing this for Wendy.
If that was the case, she wouldn't be polite.
Lillian remained silent, turning her head to look out the car window.
It was then that Lillian noticed the car had long left the hospital parking lot and was speeding down the road.
She frowned as she said, "Where are we going?"
Jackson replied, "You'll see."
The car stopped at an unfamiliar villa.
Jackson led Lillian out, guiding her into the hallway where two black-clad bodyguards stood guard in front of the villa door. Upon seeing Jackson, they moved aside. Jackson motioned for Lillian to enter first, and without hesitation, she walked in.
Inside, she found Jenny sitting on the living room sofa, looking panicked with a pale and exhausted face.
When Jenny laid eyes on Lillian, her expression transformed into one of excitement. She stood up suddenly, hurried towards Lillian, and exclaimed, "Lillian, you despicable woman! How dare you show your face here? Four years ago, you rejected Barry, declined the Hall family's proposal, and conspired against Jackson to eliminate the Hall family. Now that you're no longer in favor with Jackson and see Barry has succeeded, you regret your decision and want to choose Barry again. How shameless can you be?”
Jenny was emotional, reaching out to grab Lillian's neck.
Lillian stood there, completely stunned. What was Jenny talking about?
