Chapter 821

Lillian's voice cut through the air, sharp with accusation, leaving Star speechless. She nervously clenched her hands, casting a pleading look at Jackson.

But Jackson's focus was entirely on Lillian; he didn't even glance at Star.

Jackson's mind was reeling from Lillian's recent declaration, "my boyfriend." She had actually called him her boyfriend!

"Jackson, I..."

Star tried to defend herself, but Jackson's voice turned icy and firm.

"Enough! Star, Logan was abused. Even if you didn't know as his guardian, that's still neglect. Whether you condoned it or took part, you can explain it to the police."

With that, Jackson shot a look at the two officers, his expression clearly showing his frustration and impatience.

The officers immediately stepped forward, grabbing Star by the arms.

"Ms. Price, please cooperate."

"I didn't, I swear I didn't!" Star kept protesting.

Outside the hospital room, onlookers were recording Star with their phones, capturing her every move.

Star tried to shield her face, "Stop filming! You can't film me! I didn't abuse the child, I'm being framed!"

No matter how much she screamed, she was still dragged away.

Celine, on the other hand, was more compliant. She got up and followed quietly, head down.

This floor was the pediatric ward, and the families here all had children. They had zero tolerance for child abuse. Knowing that Celine, as a nanny, had abused a child, they couldn't help but imagine how they would feel if it happened to their own children. Their anger was palpable.

Someone in the crowd cursed first, shoving Celine, and others quickly joined in.

"What a despicable person, beat her!"

"She should be banned from the profession!"

"How could she hurt such a small child? Make her feel the pain!"

Celine covered her head and ran, not daring to make a sound.

Finally, one of the officers noticed the situation and came back to escort Celine away safely.

In the hospital room, Lillian was still holding Logan, gently patting his back. She was worried he might be scared, but Logan, lying on her shoulder, seemed to understand that Lillian was protecting him. Instead of crying, he curiously looked around.

Lillian found the little guy so well-behaved that she couldn't help but like him, despite her initial reservations. She couldn't understand how Star and Celine could harm such an adorable child.

"Our Logan is so brave and cute, isn't he?" Lillian cooed, patting Logan's little bottom. She instinctively looked at Jackson.

She then realized Jackson had been staring at her the whole time, his gaze intense and unwavering. He hadn't spoken for a while, the silence almost oppressive.

Lillian was taken aback, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

Feeling a bit embarrassed under Logan's gaze, Jackson finally smiled, his voice deep and husky.

"Lillian, do you remember what you just said?"

Lillian looked puzzled. She thought back but couldn't recall saying anything significant.

"I don't remember. What did I say?"

"Think again."

Jackson's smile grew, urging her.

Lillian thought hard but still couldn't remember anything important. She rolled her eyes elegantly.

"By the way, where's the doctor you found for Logan?"

She wanted to lay Logan on the bed. He still had an IV in his head, and although the IV pole had been brought over, Lillian was worried about the needle coming out.

But as soon as she moved, Jackson reached out and took Logan from her arms, grabbing her wrist with his other hand, preventing her from leaving or focusing on anyone else.

Lillian had no choice but to look at him, the man's voice firm and deliberate.

"You said I was your boyfriend!"

Jackson's voice was deep, almost like a declaration.

Lillian blinked slowly, "Did I? I don't remember."

"You did!" Jackson insisted, repeating her exact words.

"You told Star not to mess with your boyfriend, and you even grabbed my arm to stop other women from touching me."

Lillian found his serious expression endearing, her heart softening and a smile tugging at her lips.

"Okay."

With a light, indifferent response, she reached out to take Logan back.

"Give Logan to me and go check on the doctor."

"Lillian!"

Jackson tightened his grip on her hand, calling her name through gritted teeth.

He stepped closer, pressing Lillian back until her legs hit the bed behind her.

She had nowhere to retreat, looking at Jackson in alarm.

"What are you doing?"

Lillian grabbed Jackson's shirt collar to avoid falling onto the bed.

Jackson leaned in closer, his breath hot as he demanded.

"What does 'okay' mean? Explain it."

He wouldn't let her be vague or brush it off.

Lillian was genuinely startled by his intensity. She had meant to tease him, but now she was the one feeling flustered.

She had said it instinctively, but since it was out there...

"Don't be silly, my boyfriend."

Lillian smiled softly, her voice tinged with helplessness.

Jackson felt his heart melt, his stern expression softening, his eyes filled with tenderness.

"Say it again," he urged, not getting enough.

Lillian thought Jackson was like a clingy puppy. Her face flushed under his intense gaze, a mix of embarrassment and annoyance.

"If you want to be my official boyfriend, you need to behave. This..."

Before she could finish her protest, Jackson silenced her with a kiss.

With Logan still in his arms, Lillian was stunned, instinctively turning to check on Logan.

She met Logan's wide, innocent eyes, filled with curiosity.

Realizing Logan had witnessed the kiss, Lillian's cheeks burned.

She glared at Jackson, "If you act like this in front of Logan again, I..."

Before she could finish, another loud kiss echoed in the room.
