Chapter 874

Lillian spoke with certainty, her conviction unwavering.

She had never forgotten that the events of that night began with the Price family. It was Wendy's premature birth, and Jackson was strategically lured away from Miracalia by Star.

Lillian didn't believe for a second that the Price family was entirely innocent in all of this.

"Yeah, the Frane family had found a match for Jeffrey early on, but that person drowned unexpectedly a week before the surgery. Jeffrey was already in critical condition, and without the surgery, his life was at risk. Someone forced Daisy to target you."

Jackson's eyes were cold, the purpose of the perpetrator crystal clear.

They wanted to kill Lillian and their child.

Even if they couldn't succeed, at the very least, they aimed to drive a wedge between him and Lillian.

The sheer malice of it all made Jackson's heart surge with hatred whenever he thought about it.

Lillian leaned against Jackson's chest, recalling what Jackson had mentioned to Ambrose last time.

He suspected that Bob's early release from prison was connected to Ruby.

If that were true, it was a web of conspiracies. She wondered if Dominic and Star had any secret dealings with Ruby as well.

Lillian hadn't anticipated that the deeper she dug, the more people were involved, entangling so many in the process.

She had been furious with Jackson for one thing: if he hadn't gone to the countryside with Star and Wendy, if he had stayed by her side, maybe that night wouldn't have happened. But now, she realized how naive that thought was.

So many people wanted to harm her. Even if they missed that night, they would find another opportunity. It was impossible to guard against every threat.

Lillian felt a bit more at ease.

"What are you thinking about?" Jackson asked, seeing her deep in thought, gently stroking her back.

Lillian looked at him again. "I'm thinking, who doesn't have a rebellious streak? Since so many people don't want us to be together, can't stand to see us happy, we should stay together and be happy just to spite them! Let them choke on it."

Jackson's eyebrows lifted slightly at her words. His hand slid down her back to her waist, caressing her suggestively.

"Baby, how do we stay happy?"

Jackson's hand started to slip under her loose hospital gown, and Lillian felt a wave of helplessness.

Was that what she meant?

"Stop it!"

"Didn't you hint at it?"

Jackson's eyes sparkled with amusement as he kissed Lillian's lips. She found herself increasingly unable to resist his advances.

Before the accident, she had just decided to give their relationship another try.

But after a life-and-death experience, it felt like their relationship had fast-tracked from just dating to being deeply in love.

Intense emotions always needed a physical outlet.

But the setting was never right, leaving them wanting more.

Lillian couldn't help but wrap her arms around Jackson's neck, responding to his kiss.

Just as they were getting lost in the moment, there was a knock on the door, and it opened.

"Mr. Frane, about Seaspring Valley City... Sorry, wrong room."

Terry's report was cut short as he quickly turned to leave.

Lillian caught the mention of Seaspring Valley City and snapped back to reality.

She pushed Jackson away and called out, "What's happening in Seaspring Valley City?"

Jackson knew they couldn't continue. He sighed, fixing Lillian's disheveled clothes, and addressed Terry, who was standing awkwardly at the door.

"Go ahead."

Terry didn't dare turn around, speaking with his back to them.

"Seaspring Valley City has made a move. Oberon's critical condition just hit the financial news, and the Kelly Group's stock is plummeting. The old fox from the Lawson family couldn't hold back any longer."

Lillian got off Jackson's lap, sat to the side, and pulled out her phone.

Sure enough, she saw the news about Oberon's critical condition, including a financial reporter's interview with Ronan outside the Kelly Group.

Ronan looked particularly grief-stricken, supported by his two sons, solemnly addressing the media.

"Mr. Kelly collapsed because he couldn't handle the shock of his granddaughter's accident. I deeply regret this."

"Mr. Lawson, as far as I know, the Kelly family has only one young lady. Are you referring to the mysterious Kelly family heiress who was reunited with the family six months ago?"

"Yes, it's truly unexpected. This child suffered so much outside, and just when she finally returned to her family, this happened... Life is unpredictable."

"Has Ms. Kelly also had an accident? What will happen to the Kelly Group now that it has no successor?"

"There's no need to worry. The Kelly Group has grown to a point where it won't be derailed by the absence of any one person. Those familiar with the Kelly Group know that Mr. Kelly, though the founder, hasn't been actively involved in daily decisions for years due to his health. Of course, Ms. Kelly's condition does impact the company, but not enough to shake its foundation. I assure the public and our shareholders that as long as I'm here, the company will continue to operate smoothly, and everyone's interests will be protected."

Lillian was furious, laughing coldly.

"He really dares to say that!"

She and her grandfather were both fine, yet Ronan was practically holding their memorial service in front of the media.

He downplayed Oberon's role in the company, as if Oberon hadn't made all the major decisions for the Kelly Group in recent years.

In Ronan's narrative, Oberon was a wealthy idler, and it was Ronan who had led the company to its current success.

"He needs chaos to seize the opportunity and consolidate power. Don't waste your anger on a rat like him. The more despicable and arrogant he is now, the more humiliating his eventual failure will be. Let him have his moment. Your grandfather and Ambrose can use this time to see who in the company is truly trustworthy and clean out the parasites."

Jackson took Lillian's phone and turned it off, not wanting her to get upset over such matters.

Lillian's eyes sparkled as she looked at Jackson.

Jackson raised an eyebrow, and Lillian cupped his face, smiling.

"Wow, when did you get so good at comforting people?"

She leaned in close, her clear eyes reflecting his handsome face, as if her entire world was just him.

Jackson gazed at Lillian, her eyes full of him, feeling like it had been ages since he had seen that look.

It felt like a lifetime ago.

Was the girl who used to follow him around finally back?

Jackson's Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he instinctively pulled Lillian back into his arms, whispering in her ear.

"It's not that I'm good at comforting people, it's that I'm good at comforting you."

Terry was speechless.

Was he invisible?

Although Jackson and Lillian had reconciled, and Jackson's mood had noticeably improved over the past few days, making him much more pleasant to his subordinates, the constant display of affection was overwhelming. Especially for Terry, who didn't even have a girlfriend.

Terry felt like he was in a tough spot.

When Jackson and Lillian eventually got married, it would be unfair if he weren't made a groomsman.

"Terry?"

Terry snapped back to reality at the sound of Jackson's slightly raised voice.

He looked at Jackson on the sofa, and only then did he notice the deep bite mark on Jackson's neck. It was obvious who had left it.

Jackson was really indulgent with Lillian.

"Terry!"

Jackson's voice was more stern this time, and Terry quickly shifted his gaze to meet Jackson's slightly annoyed eyes, realizing he had zoned out twice right under Jackson's nose.

He had no idea why Jackson had called him.

He was in trouble!

Terry instinctively looked to Lillian for help. Lillian's expression was gentle and smiling as she intervened.

"Terry, you've been working so hard these past few days. With Jackson unable to go to the office, you've been running back and forth between the company and the hospital. Did you not get enough rest last night?"

Lillian then turned to Jackson and said, "Jackson, once things settle down, you should give Terry a proper vacation."

Jackson didn't believe for a second that Terry hadn't rested well.

Terry could sleep anywhere, anytime. Even when Jackson was suffering from severe insomnia after Lillian left, Terry could fall asleep instantly in front of him.

Terry's behavior just now clearly indicated he was lost in thought about something.

But since Lillian had spoken, Jackson couldn't refuse.

Under Terry's hopeful gaze, Jackson nodded slightly.

"Alright."

Terry was about to express his gratitude when Jackson added, "Lillian is really considerate of you."

The way he said it sounded ominous.

Was Jackson jealous of him?

That would be a huge misunderstanding.

Terry quickly said, "Mrs. Frane is considerate of me because she wants me to be in better shape to serve you. It's indirectly her way of caring for you. I was just thinking how enviable your relationship with Mrs. Frane is now, and that a wedding must be on the horizon. I was wondering if I might have the honor of being a groomsman."

Jackson raised an eyebrow. "You were thinking about that?"

It seemed Terry had more confidence in Jackson's relationship than Jackson himself. No wonder Lillian found Terry likable and always defended him.

Jackson now saw Terry as a valuable assistant.

Jackson didn't hesitate to agree.

"Alright."

Terry was momentarily stunned, then overjoyed.

"You're really letting me be a groomsman? Don't worry, I'll start working on my abs right away. I won't embarrass you and Mrs. Frane."

Lillian looked at Terry's eager expression, amused.

How come she didn't know she was about to have a wedding?

They were quite the planners, making it seem inappropriate and disappointing for her to say she hadn't planned to remarry or have a wedding.

But fortunately, Terry glanced at Lillian and was perceptive enough to change the subject.

"What did Mr. Frane ask me to do earlier?"

"Go see what's causing the commotion outside," Jackson instructed again.

Terry finally heard the noise in the hallway.

He quickly responded and turned to leave.

Terry walked briskly to the end of the hallway and found Star there.

Star was holding Logan, with a nanny and servants carrying gifts behind her.

They were being blocked by security, and Star was determined to push through with Logan.

Terry approached, and Star, seeing him, urgently said, "Terry, I heard Lillian hasn't woken up yet. Lillian really likes Logan, so I brought him to see her. Maybe hearing Logan cry will wake her up."

Logan had been left at the Peace Mansion.

Originally, Lillian and Jackson were supposed to take care of him for a few days, but then Lillian had her accident.

Jackson had been at the hospital every day, so Star took Logan back to the Price Manor.

Fortunately, the nanny Jackson hired for Logan was also brought back by Star.

The nanny was reliable, and Logan's chubby cheeks were even plumper than before, his face rosy.

As if understanding Star's words, knowing Lillian was inside, Logan struggled in Star's arms, reaching out towards Terry.

Logan waved his arms and called out, seemingly asking Terry to take him to Lillian.

Logan was too cute, even smiling at Terry.

Terry found it hard to refuse. He reached out to play with Logan before turning to Star.

"Ms. Price, please go back. Mr. Frane has ordered that no one is allowed in or to be seen. Mr. Frane is in a bad mood, and I advise you not to anger him now."

Seeing Terry's serious tone, Star was secretly delighted.

She hadn't expected Lillian to have such misfortune.

Although Jackson had kept the news under wraps, the Price family had still managed to find out about the incident.

Star had known for days that Lillian was in the hospital, fighting for her life.

She had wanted to come and check on the situation, but Dominic had advised her to wait.

Dominic said that if Lillian really died, she would have plenty of opportunities in the future and didn't need to risk Jackson's suspicion now.

Dominic made sense, so Star had held back.

But after several days, Star couldn't contain herself any longer.

Suppressing her excitement, she said with teary eyes, "Terry, look how much Logan wants to see Lillian. Maybe his cries will really help her. Please ask Jackson. I truly mean well."

Terry glanced at her, feeling conflicted. Star discreetly pinched Logan's soft thigh.

Logan cried out in pain, tears streaming down his face, looking pitiful. Terry seemed to soften and nodded at Star.

"Ms. Price, wait here. I'll ask Mr. Frane."

Star was thrilled, watching Terry turn and quickly disappear down the hallway.

In her mind, she imagined Lillian lying lifeless on the hospital bed while she comforted Jackson, a scene that was both thrilling and satisfying.
