Chapter 475 Flower
Lillian turned off the water, dried her hands, and stepped out.
A few days later, the day before Lillian was set to leave for Aetherwell, Jackson's car pulled up in front of the dance troupe's entrance again.
Jackson, tall and imposing, stood by the car holding a bouquet of roses—gray matcha forest roses, fresh and elegant.
Lillian recognized them immediately. She stood there, stunned, until Jackson approached and handed her the flowers, his voice gentle.
"To make up for the flowers. Still mad?"
Lillian took the bouquet from him, feeling a lump in her throat and a sting in her eyes.
She looked down at the flowers, then raised her gaze to him and smiled.
"They're beautiful. This is the first time you've given me flowers."
Jackson, seeing her happy, relaxed his lips from their tight line and let out a subtle sigh of relief. He reached out and gently tapped the top of Lillian's head.
"Don't be silly. I gave you flowers twelve years ago."
Lillian blinked in surprise, her memory jogging. He was referring to his high school days. Mr. Frane of the Frane family—charming and handsome—naturally attracted many admirers.
But he was aloof and solitary, so many girls only dared to leave flowers or love letters anonymously.
Jackson rarely brought these home, but sometimes his backpack would contain these love letters, or there would be flowers left at the Frane family's doorstep.
Lillian eagerly read the letters he brought home, and she'd even read them aloud to Jackson.
She also saved the flowers he was going to throw away, insisting it was a waste, and once even put them in a vase.
After that, Jackson began handing over all the flowers to her, not just one or two bouquets.
When she recalled this, Lillian's smile turned playful, and she shook her head. "It's not the same at all."
"Why not? They're just flowers," Jackson said, raising an eyebrow.
Lillian thought to herself, 'Of course, it's different. Did he give me those flowers back then because he liked me?'
But she kept her curiosity in check, afraid to dig too deep.
She simply hugged the bouquet tighter and stepped toward the car.
Perhaps due to the unpleasantness from last time, Jackson had come to pick her up personally today.
Lillian settled into the passenger seat, and on the way back to the Peace Mansion, she couldn't help but ask Jackson, "These flowers are quite special. Did you pick them yourself?"
The flowers symbolized a lifelong love, one love for a lifetime.
"Terry picked them out."
Jackson glanced at Lillian, seeing her obvious pleasure, and thought that this year's bonus for Terry might need to be adjusted upwards.
"If you like them, I'll have the flower shop send a bouquet every day."
Lillian gently touched a flower petal and shook her head. "You really don't get women. Getting flowers all the time takes away the surprise."
Jackson's brow furrowed slightly, but he said nothing, simply acknowledging her words. "I'll do whatever you want."
Noticing that he seemed in a good mood, Lillian brought up their plans for the next morning.
He asked, "How long will you be gone? After the Aetherwell tour, where else are you headed?"
Jackson's grip tightened on the steering wheel. He knew all about the tour, and that was precisely why he'd come to get her.
Before coming, he had even debated whether to force her to stay.
He didn't want her to go on tour, especially since her pregnancy was becoming more noticeable. He couldn't bear the thought of her being away from him.
He felt a pang of anxiety at the thought of her leaving Miracalia. But he also knew that she seemed happiest when dancing with the troupe.
At this moment, her demeanor towards him was unusually calm and pleasant, a rare respite from their usual tensions.
Given their already fragile relationship, if he refused her, she might become upset again.
Jackson remained silent for a moment, ultimately choosing not to disrupt the rare harmony between them. He pulled the car over abruptly and, turning to face her, gently cupped her neck with his hand, drawing her close.
"You can go, but remember you're my woman, Lillian. Stay away from certain people!"
