Chapter 557 A Friendly Reminder
The wig had fallen off, revealing burn marks on her scalp, her hair was a mess, and her face was bruised and swollen. Daisy looked at her with disgust and asked, "How did you end up like this?"
Mary, however, was not ashamed. She immediately burst into tears and reached out to Daisy for help. "Daisy, we are all mothers. Look at Lillian. Not only does she not care about my situation, but she also lets a servant abuse me. Look at what that servant did to me. Let go of me!"
Mary started struggling again, and as she waved her hand, she scratched Mila's face.
Daisy's face darkened, and she angrily shouted at Mila, "Let go of her!"
She didn't pity Mary. She just found the situation too embarrassing.
If Mary wanted to run, she should disappear quickly.
After marrying into the Frane family, Daisy had always been very proud and domineering.
Mila, intimidated by her commanding demeanor, trembled slightly and was about to release Mary.
Lillian immediately said, "Don't let go!"
Hearing this, Mila instinctively tightened her grip on Mary. Mila was strong, her strength preventing Mary from breaking free.
Mary, with a desperate look in her eyes, turned to Daisy and said, "Daisy, it's my fault for not teaching Lillian well. She abuses me at home, and even doesn't respect you since she married into the Frane family. I'm really ashamed to face you."
"Then don't face her. She has nothing to do with you!" Lillian coldly interrupted Mary.
She then looked at Daisy. Before Daisy, who was burning with anger, could speak, Lillian smiled and said, "Aunt Daisy, you should already know that Jackson and I have filed for divorce. If you still can't let go and want to discipline me as an elder, I can accommodate you. How about I cancel the divorce application?"
"You're threatening me!" Daisy's face darkened.
Lillian smiled faintly. "Just a friendly reminder."
It was a reminder that she and Jackson were already divorced. Daisy should mind her own business.
Daisy gritted her teeth and sneered, ignoring Mary's clamor. She only said to Lillian, "Star saved you; she's your savior. You should be grateful and go thank her properly and take care of her!"
Lillian frowned slightly, unwilling to accept the idea that Star was her savior.
Although she was grateful to Star, she couldn't shake the feeling that calling her a savior was an overstatement.
Becoming a savior seemed too easy. Star seemed to really enjoy being everyone's savior.
But Daisy didn't give her a chance to argue. She turned and left after speaking.
Lillian looked at Mila and asked, "Is the recorder in her hand?"
Mila explained, "Yes, you told me to secretly record when Mrs. Garcia arrived. This morning, as soon as she came, I hid the recorder under Mr. Young's pillow. After Mrs. Garcia left, I took it out, but she came back and saw it. She grabbed the recorder and ran, and I chased after her."
Lillian gave Mary a cold look and stepped forward to search her.
But she searched Mary thoroughly, even picking up and shaking the wig and hat that had fallen to the ground, but found nothing.
"Where's the recorder?" Lillian frowned at Mary.
Mary rolled her eyes. "What recorder? I didn't take it or see it."
"No, Mrs. Frane, I'm not lying. I saw her grab the recorder and run. How could it not be there?"
Mila, both anxious and scared, let go of Mary and started searching her again.
Mary, however, looked unafraid. "I didn't take it! You guys are being ridiculous!"
"If you didn't take it, why did you run?" Lillian asked, naturally believing Mila.
"She was chasing me. I didn't know what was going on, so of course, I ran. If you can't find it, can I leave now?" Mary argued, shaking off Mila and trying to leave again.
Lillian signaled Mila to grab her. Looking at the injuries on her face, she asked, "Did Bob hit you again?"
Mary clenched her fists, her eyes filled with hatred.
