Chapter 618
Star and Dominic stumbled out of the hospital, just as Jackson's car screeched to a halt right in front of them.
The door swung open, and out stepped Jackson, tall and imposing. Star's eyes went red the moment she saw him, and she stormed over.
"Jackson, did you really tell us to leave the hospital? No way, right?
"I can't believe you'd be so heartless. A nurse even shoved me! Look, I'm hurt."
Star grabbed Jackson's arm, showing off her scraped and bleeding finger.
Back in the day, Jackson would've melted at the sight of her hurt fingers, feeling all guilty and soft, and he'd always give in.
But this time, when Jackson glanced at her fingers, Star saw nothing but disgust in his eyes.
That look wasn't new to her. It was the look people had when they saw something gross.
And right now, that was exactly how Jackson was looking at her.
Star froze, her face going pale, her hand stuck in place.
Jackson's cold voice cut through the air, "Star, using the same trick too many times will bite you in the ass."
Star looked up, meeting Jackson's icy, mocking gaze.
He shook her off hard, and Star yelped, stumbling back and almost falling.
She realized Jackson had always known her little games; he just chose to remember the good times and let it slide.
But now, he really didn't give a damn anymore.
Dominic walked over, supporting Star, his eyes burning with anger.
"Jackson, the Price and Frane families go way back. You and Henry were good friends. Star's been through hell for you. Even if you lost a kid and are suspicious, you can't just accuse the Price family without proof!"
Star quickly chimed in, "Yeah, Jackson, if the Price family was involved, why would I call you that night and ask you to come over? Wouldn't that make you suspicious of me?"
Jackson stared at Dominic, his gaze heavy.
"Whether it's baseless or not, Mr. Price, you know damn well."
He turned and walked past Dominic, heading straight into the hospital.
Dominic got into the car with Star, tapping his fingers on his knee.
Dominic sighed."It seems he really believes it was done by the Price family."
Jackson reached the ward upstairs and pushed the door open, hearing voices inside.
"Grind up the vitamin C tablets and sprinkle them on the shrimp to poison him."
Jackson instantly recognized Lyra and Flora's voices.
And they were plotting to poison someone—him, obviously.
Oberon's voice followed.
"We should give him food that wrecks the kidneys. What do you think, Ambrose?"
Ambrose was lounging on the sofa, facing the door, unlike the three elders scheming away.
As soon as Jackson walked in, Ambrose noticed him.
He smiled and said, "Grandpa, it's not that complicated. A bottle of poison will do. What do you think, Mr. Frane?"
Ambrose raised an eyebrow, locking eyes with Jackson as he fully entered the room.
"Where's Ophelia? You bastard, where did you hide her?"
Flora jumped up, not seeing Lillian behind Jackson, and tried to hit him, but Oberon held her back.
