Chapter 546
Jackson frowned as he watched her crying and looking so anxious and unsettled.
The image of Lillian always being stubborn and trying to prove herself came to his mind.
He thought of how Lillian, despite looking fragile, dared to go out while pregnant and still took good care of herself and Taylor.
He wished Lillian could be like Star, dependent on him and unable to leave him, but unfortunately, Lillian only wanted to distance herself from him now.
"Jackson, please, don't make me leave." Star's pleading voice brought Jackson back from his thoughts.
Jackson frowned slightly, looking at Star, feeling annoyed.
But seeing her nervously wringing her hands and thinking about the hardships and traumas she had endured over the years, Jackson suppressed his irritation and patiently advised her. "You are the heir to the Price family. With Henry gone, your father is getting older and his health is not good. Who will support the Price family in the future? You will have to shoulder the burden of the Price family sooner or later."
He picked up the document, stood up, walked around the desk, and handed the document back to Star. "Take a good look at it. I have a meeting, so I won't keep you."
He took a step to leave, but Star suddenly took a step forward from behind and hugged Jackson's waist tightly.
She pressed against his back, crying, "Jackson, can't you help me? The cooperation between Star Group and the Price family is going well, isn't it? I know you and Lillian are getting divorced. Can't you marry me..."
Before she could finish, Jackson reached out and pulled her arms away, pushing her off.
Star stumbled and crashed to the ground
She looked up at Jackson, her expression very sorrowful.
Jackson looked down at her coldly and said in a deep voice, "Star, even if I separate from Lillian, I would never choose you!"
Star shook her head. "I don't believe you have no feelings for me. You searched for me for so many years. You even named the company after me. To save me, you even skipped your own wedding..."
She didn't believe that everything he did for her was just out of guilt and not love.
However, before Star could finish, Jackson interrupted her again.
"Just guilt and a sense of debt," he said, his voice cold and without any hesitation
Star's eyes instantly turned red. She struggled to get up from the ground, choking with sobs.
"But Lillian doesn't love you at all. She wants to escape from you, to divorce you. I'm the one who loves you! Jackson, do you hate me, think I'm dirty?"
"No, over the years, although I was beaten and frozen, it was because I crippled that family's fool. I was never touched. I'm still a virgin."
Star anxiously explained.
Jackson naturally knew her situation. The family that controlled her only had one foolish son.
Initially, they hoped Star would have a child with that fool, but Star crippled him the first time they met.
So over the years, that family held a grudge and often beat her. Star tried to escape and even had her leg broken.
Thinking of these things and looking at the anxious, insecure, and paranoid Star, Jackson felt a deep pain in his heart, and his expression softened.
He stepped forward and gently offered a tissue to Star
Star immediately smiled through her tears, but the tears flowed even more.
However, Jackson's next words dashed her hopes again. "Star, if a man truly loves a woman, he wouldn't mind these things. Even if his beloved woman suffered humiliation, he would only feel heartache, not disgust. Your words demean yourself and insult me.
"We only had sibling affection when we were young. After being apart for so many years, we've only been reunited for two or three months. How could you possibly have fallen in love with me?"
