Chapter 186 Cut Off the Link

"Jackson! You..." When Lillian saw his movement, her heart skipped a beat. She almost instinctively reached out towards the car's window as if to grab something.

Jackson turned back and grabbed Lillian's wrist.

He pulled her hard, bringing the two of them suddenly closer.

He stared at her up close, asking, "I threw it away because you found it annoying. Why are you so emotional now?"

Under his cold gaze, Lillian felt her heart tortured.

Her throat felt dry, becoming painful and hard to breathe, as if a wad of cotton slowly soaked up water and blocked her breathing.

Lillian tried to calm down and shrugged with a smile. "Although the jewel on the ring is not very big, it's quite expensive. Even if you don't wear it, there's no need to throw it away, right?"

Jackson sneered. "If you really care about it, you can get off now and look for it."

At that moment, Lillian really wanted to open the door and get off. She grabbed the seam of her pants with her other hand, resisting the impulse, and shook her head.

"You don't care, then I won't."

Looking at her indifferent look, Jackson self-mockingly sneered and let go of her hand.

Lillian sat back slowly, and Jackson withdrew his gaze coldly, saying, "Why would I care? I'll buy a better one when I remarry."

A slight pang hit Lillian's heart. She nodded without saying anything more.

They didn't speak again for the rest of the journey.

When Jackson's car reached the entrance of the residential area, Lillian spoke up,

"No need to go in. You can just drop me off here. Thank you for helping me out today and bringing me back."

Jackson didn't respond and slowly parked the car by the roadside.

Just as Lillian opened the car door, Jackson asked, "How's the five million dollars?"

Lillian turned back and said, "I got one month, still nineteen days left. I remember the agreement."

Jackson said, "Very well. Get off!"

Lillian opened the car door and got out, and Jackson immediately drove away without a moment's pause.

Lillian stood by the roadside, watching the car drive further away before taking steps towards the residential area.

The next day, while Lillian was helping Nathan and the others adjust their dance moves, she received a call that Jeffrey had a relapse and was hospitalized.

Lillian was very anxious. Hurrying to the hospital, she couldn't see Jeffrey but saw Daisy waiting outside the ward.

Daisy crossed her arms and looked at Lillian. "You came so quickly. It shows you still have some conscience and care a bit about Jeffrey."

Lillian approached and said, "How is Jeffrey's condition? Has it really relapsed, or is this just a trick to lure me here?"

Daisy's eyes turned cold as she said, "I would never curse my son!"

Lillian believed it, and her expression was worried.

She said, "I'll go in to see Jeffrey."

She was about to push the ward door, but Daisy held her hand and said, "Jeffrey just had a shot and fell asleep. Don't disturb him. Come talk with me."

Daisy led the way to the safe passage, and Lillian looked through the window into the ward, indeed seeing Jeffrey sleeping with his eyes closed on the bed before turning to follow.

When Lillian entered the safe passage, Daisy got straight to the point. "I heard from Wendy that you and Jackson have already signed the divorce agreement. Is that true?"

Lillian nodded. "Yes, we have."

Daisy asked, "Do you have to give Jackson five million for the agreement to take effect?"

At that time, Lillian showed Wendy the agreement to get the contract signed with Digital Dreams Gaming.

It was clear that Wendy had informed Daisy.

Lillian nodded again. "That's right."

Daisy smirked inwardly.

Jackson wasn't really looking to divorce.

Five million meant nothing to Jackson. If he really wanted a divorce, why did he ask for five million?

He probably thought Lillian couldn't come up with the five million, so he delayed this way.

However, Daisy knew her son. If Jackson had signed the agreement and Lillian truly gave him the five million, even if he regretted it to the extreme, he would definitely honor it with his pride.

There would be no turning back then.

And now, Daisy must help Lillian get that five million as soon as possible, cutting off their link.
