Chapter 182 Jackson's Indifference

Lillian was very annoyed, but she smiled and nodded without hesitation.

"Congratulations! I urge you to hurry up and get married. Remember to send me a wedding invitation."

Lillian wouldn't go; she had had enough of Wendy.

Since Wendy cared so much, Lillian decided to congratulate her on marrying into the Frane family. She wished that Wendy would soon become a perfect daughter-in-law under Daisy's guidance.

While Lillian was thinking this, Wendy let go of her and suddenly bit her lip.

Wendy said, "Jackson, why are you here too?"

Lillian's back stiffened slightly. She instinctively turned her head and saw Jackson standing tall and clear under the nearby corridor.

The carousel of light reflected on Jackson's face, shadows shifting, blurring his gaze.

Lillian knew Jackson was staring at her. Her heart suddenly ached sharply, and her neck felt like it was being gripped, making it hard for her to breathe.

"Excuse me, I'll leave first," Lillian said quickly and turned to leave.

Just because Wendy and Daisy were standing at the entrance of the rockery and didn't move, Lillian couldn't leave either.

And at this moment, Jackson had already walked over.

He said, "You've been out for so long, and I was worried, so I came out to look for you."

Jackson approached, and after speaking to Daisy, he looked at Wendy.

"Do you still feel uncomfortable after having some fresh air?"

Wendy tilted her face up, smiling sweetly. "I'm not uncomfortable anymore. Jackson, do you find me, a pregnant woman, troublesome? I even can't stand the smell of fish and alcohol."

She looked charming, and Jackson, with lowered eyes, smiled.

Jackson said, "No, I've already instructed the waiters to remove the alcohol and seafood. I won't let you feel uncomfortable again. It's chilly outside, let's go back."

Wendy obediently nodded, and Daisy, relieved, said to Wendy,

"Look, Jackson used to be indifferent and unable to take care of others, but now he has finally learned how to care for others."

"Daisy." Wendy blushed, then looked at Lillian, who was left aside.

Wendy asked, "Jackson, we just ran into Lillian. Why don't we invite her along?"

Only then did Jackson's gaze turn coldly towards Lillian, just for a moment, before retracting as if he had just glanced at an irrelevant stranger.

Jackson's voice was like broken ice as he said, "Lillian just said she was leaving, so we shouldn't bother her. Don't forget to send her the invitation later."

Daisy immediately pulled Wendy and Jackson.

Daisy said, "Yes, let's go back quickly. The food is getting cold. Wendy can't eat cold things while pregnant. Jackson, accompany Wendy and me to her check-up tomorrow, okay?"

Jackson said, "Sure, got it."

As they walked away chatting, Lillian was left standing in place.

She leaned on the rockery, unconsciously exerting too much force, leaving deep marks on her palm from the rugged rocks. Aching spread throughout her body.

Lillian suddenly withdrew her hand, took a deep breath, took out her phone, sent a message to Nathan, and headed towards the door.

She wanted to go back first.

It was getting dark outside now, so it was not a good time to catch a cab.

After sending the message, Lillian walked out of the restaurant. When she lowered her head to hail a cab, she collided with someone coming towards her, causing the other person's phone to fall to the ground.

"Why are you so damn careless?" the other person complained first.

Lillian thought it was her fault for not paying attention and accidentally bumping into someone, so she instinctively apologized.

"I'm sorry," she said, bending down to help pick up the phone, but her arm was suddenly grabbed and pulled forcefully.

Frowning, Lillian looked up to see a drunken middle-aged man.

"You have broken my phone, beautiful. Just apologizing isn't enough. How about having a drink with me? Come on, follow me inside."

Before Lillian could react, the man dragged her a few steps.

She struggled hard. "Let go! Otherwise, I'll call the police."

"What? You broke my phone, so having a drink is only fair. It's useless even if the police come!"

The man's companions picked up the broken phone from the ground, and two or three men crowded around, trying to coerce Lillian into the nearby private room.

Lillian's phone was also forcefully taken from her hand. Just as she was about to shout, someone reached out to cover her mouth. As Lillian turned her head, she met the familiar cold, deep gaze.

Jackson stood a few steps away, watching coldly.
