Chapter 830
Lillian finally got why Dominic had been so generous with the villa—it was all part of his plan.
Dominic had given away such an expensive villa for his precious grandson. If he didn't let her stay to take care of the baby, it would seem heartless and unreasonable.
Star's eyes lit up as she looked at Jackson.
"I can crash in any guest room. If that's not cool, I can even sleep on the couch in the living room."
Jackson scoffed, ready to refuse, but Lillian grabbed his arm and said, "Jackson, let Ms. Price stay in the room across from Logan's on the second floor. It's close to Logan, and if he cries at night, Ms. Price can take care of him right away."
Jackson nodded. "Alright, you're the lady of the house. Arrange it however you like. I have no objections."
Star didn't have time to be happy about Jackson's agreement before his indulgent tone made her heart ache.
But who wouldn't love a Jackson who could pamper his woman so well?
Star felt even more eager to win Jackson over.
She turned to Dominic and said, "Dad, you should head back. It's getting late."
Dominic gave Star a deep look before leaving.
Star followed Lillian and Jackson upstairs.
Watching the two of them being all lovey-dovey, with Jackson's arm around Lillian's waist and her holding his arm, made Star roll her eyes.
When they reached the hallway and she saw Lillian's photos hanging on the wall, her mood soured even more, and the excitement of being able to stay overnight diminished significantly.
"You can stay in this room," Lillian said, pointing to the room across from the master bedroom.
At the master bedroom door, Lillian turned to Star and pointed to the room across the hall before heading inside with Jackson.
Star spoke up, "Lillian, Jackson, is Logan in the room across the hall? Can I see him?"
Jackson, clearly annoyed, didn't want to deal with Star. Since she had followed them, he had been cold and unresponsive.
Lillian had to handle Star and said, "This is our master bedroom. Jackson is a bit of a neat freak and doesn't like outsiders in our room. If it gets any strange smells, he'll be upset, right?"
Lillian turned to Jackson, who gave Star a cold look and said, "Have you asked enough questions?"
Star, seeing Jackson's extreme impatience, forced a smile. "Never mind then."
Jackson turned and went inside.
Lillian was about to follow when Star grabbed her.
Lillian frowned and turned back. Star, seeing Jackson had walked away, said, "Lillian, you're staying in the master bedroom too? You and Jackson are divorced. How can you be so shameless?"
Lillian chuckled and winked at her. "What? Seeing me with my boyfriend makes you anxious, worried you won't get a chance to throw yourself at him tonight?"
Star's face twisted with anger. "Lillian, that's too harsh! Just because you have no self-respect doesn't mean everyone else is like you."
Lillian laughed softly. "Then make sure you don't do anything shameless tonight, contradicting your own words."
She turned and went into the room, closing the door with a smile. "I can sleep with my boyfriend however I want. Got it?"
Lillian rolled her eyes and loudly locked the door.
Star stood outside, frowning deeply.
With Lillian around, finding an opportunity wouldn't be easy.
Inside, Lillian had just locked the door when Jackson's familiar, amused voice sounded beside her.
"Lillian, how do you want to sleep with me tonight?"
Startled, Lillian clutched her chest and turned to see Jackson leaning against the wall, having heard everything she said to Star.
Lillian's ears turned red, and she glared at him. "I'm going to take a shower."
Ignoring Jackson's teasing, she walked past him, but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.
Jackson lowered his head. "Are you sure you don't want to reconsider? You wanted to annoy her, right? We should make some noise."
His usually reserved face now showed a hint of desire, as if saying, "I'm a great catch."
Lillian, not one for being overheard, glared at him. "Boyfriend, if you push your luck, I'll ignore you."
Jackson, dissatisfied, kissed her lips before letting go.
Lillian went into the bathroom, while Jackson, still in damp clothes, went to the adjacent guest room to shower. As he opened the door, Star came out, looking panicked.
Seeing Jackson, Star pointed to the room behind her. "Jackson, isn't this the wrong room? It's not a guest room and can't be used."
Star had been startled by the room's setup. The furniture and bed were covered in white sheets, giving it a creepy, lifeless feel.
When she pulled off a sheet, she saw a child's rocking horse with a lifelike doll on it. The doll fell and its head rolled to her feet, nearly scaring her to death.
Star, pale, saw Jackson come out of the master bedroom and knew he and Lillian couldn't be that close yet. There was still a rift between them, giving her a chance.
Jackson glanced behind her, his eyes dark. "The Peace Mansion doesn't host guests. There are no guest rooms. The room across the hall was prepared for Taylor. It's empty now, so you'll stay there tonight."
Star had guessed as much when she saw the items under the sheets.
She hadn't expected it to be true—a room prepared for a dead baby.
Fear gripped her even more.
