Chapter 657

"Mike? What are you doing here?" Lillian, lying on the hospital bed, looked up, totally surprised to see him.

Mike, feeling all eyes on him, gave Lillian a warm smile. "Hey, I heard you were in the hospital too, so I thought I'd drop by and see how you're doing. How are you holding up?"

With a concerned look, Mike walked over to her bedside.

Among Jackson's friends, Mike had always been the nicest to Lillian, helping her out more than once.

Lillian liked Mike too. Realizing he was probably here to see Jackson and got sent over, she felt a bit annoyed but didn't want to take it out on him. She smiled, "Thanks, Mike. Have a seat."

"Lillian, who's this?" Oberon asked, eyeing Mike curiously.

Lillian quickly introduced them. After some polite chit-chat, Mike pulled up a chair and sat next to Barry.

Barry handed his phone to Lillian, picking up their earlier conversation.

"Here's the info about that house I mentioned. Take a look. If you like it, we can move forward. I can contact my friend for you."

Lillian had just come back to the room with Flora when Barry showed up.

Barry asked about her future plans and suggested she continue her interrupted plans to study abroad once she was better.

He mentioned he knew a girl going to the same university in Phantom Kingdom to study finance. She had found a villa near the university and was looking for a roommate.

It seemed perfect for Lillian, so he recommended it.

Lillian looked at the house photos on Barry's phone. "Wow, the house is beautiful."

The villa looked clean, tidy, and warmly decorated, with a cute little garden.

Barry was about to explain more when Mike jumped in, "Lillian, are you thinking about studying abroad? If you're renting, it's better not to share with someone you don't know. You never know about their habits and personalities, and constant friction wouldn't be good."

Oberon nodded, "Lillian, Mike's got a point. Plus, you're still recovering. Don't rush into studying abroad. Think it over. How about visiting Seaspring Valley City? The scenery and climate there are perfect for recuperation."

Flora, sitting by the bed, grabbed Lillian's hand excitedly. "Let's go to Seaspring Valley City! It'll be fun!"

Ambrose handed Lillian a fig soaked in warm water and said gently, "Your colleagues at the dance troupe are really concerned about you. The last performance was a hit, and there's a new production in the works. It's a big challenge to top the last one. Would you like to join and give it a shot?"

Lillian took the fig, smiled thoughtfully, and seemed to be considering going back to the dance troupe.

She had gotten along well with everyone during her short time there.

Plus, Ambrose had given her a chance before, but she left soon after, probably causing some trouble for the troupe.

Lillian felt guilty and wanted to make things right. Barry, getting cut off again and again, noticed Lillian seemed to be leaning towards the others' suggestions. He clenched his hands a bit on his knees.

He raised his voice and laughed, "You're overthinking it. Lillian actually knows my friend, so they won't have any issues getting along. And about the dance troupe, with Lillian's talent, she can join anytime. But learning from an international dance master is a rare chance. I heard Master Alice plans to retire after this world tour. If that's true, Lillian should go abroad to study with her ASAP. Once she comes back, her reputation will skyrocket, and joining Ambrose's troupe will be even better."

Barry was pretty convincing. Lillian turned to him and asked, "I know this friend of yours?"

Barry nodded, "Yeah, it's Cynthia Torres. You guys were in the same class in high school, right?"

Lillian's eyes lit up a bit. "Cynthia? Why's she suddenly going to Phantom Kingdom to study finance?"

From her tone, it was clear she and Cynthia were friends back in school.

Ambrose's eyes darkened as he glanced at Barry.

It wasn't that he didn't support Lillian going abroad to study dance, but they had just discovered her true identity.

They hadn't even reunited or uncovered the truth yet. How could they let Lillian go to Phantom Kingdom alone now?

Oberon had the same thought. He hadn't even brought Lillian home yet, and now this guy was trying to persuade her to go abroad.

Oberon glared at Barry.

Initially, he thought Barry seemed decent and had good taste, at least better than Jackson.

But now, Oberon found Barry annoying. Wearing glasses and pretending to be refined, he had no sense of propriety and wasn't suitable to be his granddaughter's husband!

"Barry, let Lillian focus on recovering first. She needs to adapt to the food and environment abroad," Oberon said again.

His granddaughter, if she were to study abroad, would naturally have the best property near the school, with bodyguards, servants, and a housekeeper arranged.

He and Flora would accompany her as well. Why would she need to share a place with someone?

Barry's urgency clearly showed he wanted to get Lillian out of the country quickly, which was suspicious.

Anouk, standing next to Oberon, felt like an invisible person.

She used to be the center of attention wherever she went.

But now, everyone was focused on Lillian. Ambrose wanted Lillian in the Kelly family's dance troupe.

Oberon was even more extreme, wanting Lillian to go to Seaspring Valley City to recuperate.

Anouk couldn't help but interject, "Grandpa, I think Barry is right. If Lillian loves dance so much, it would be a shame to miss this opportunity. If you really care about Lillian, you should support her. How about we sponsor Lillian's study abroad expenses?"

As soon as Anouk finished speaking, Ambrose and Oberon both looked at her with a hint of pressure in their eyes.

Anouk's smile began to freeze, with the atmosphere in the room becoming a bit awkward.

Mike, who had only spoken once at the beginning, couldn't get a word in edgewise.

He glanced at Barry, then at Ambrose and Oberon.

He felt sorry for Jackson. If Lillian was hard to deal with, her family seemed even tougher.

Mike felt it was time for him to leave and go back to advise Jackson to give up sooner rather than later.
