Chapter 516 Scapegoat

"In Valoria, they chased Lilian nonstop, and in Country N, they tried to kill her. Is that what you call helping?"

Jackson glared at Susan, his eyes cold.

Susan frowned. "What do you mean? Don tried to kill her? Lilian's smart. She vanished as soon as she went abroad. When I found out, I sent people to find her.

I helped her leave, so of course, I had to keep her safe! When we couldn't find her, I even sent Don. So she was hiding in Country N?

By the way, why can't I reach Don? Jackson, did you see him on your trip?"

Lilian almost wanted to applaud Susan for twisting the truth.

Jackson stared at Susan, feeling only irony.

He had expected the Price family might try to silence someone and let Don take the fall.

But seeing it firsthand still surprised him.

He hadn't expected Susan to be the mastermind. Don was her relative, after all.

Susan used to treat Don like a son, and now she was abandoning him so ruthlessly.

Although he always believed he could accurately judge others, he realized the person who deceived him was not Susan but himself.

"Do you think your words are credible? My wife was hunted down in Country N, and many witnesses identified the Price family.

Susan, have I been too generous to the Price family, making you think I'm easily fooled?"

Jackson's voice was cold and harsh, no longer calling her Godmother Susan.

Susan felt a chill but kept her expression steady. She frowned and said,

"Hunted down? How is that possible! Where's Don? I need to ask him; there must be some misunderstanding!"

Susan wasn't too panicked; she had been very cautious.

She hadn't intervened directly, and the people Don took with him had never seen her.

Even if Jackson interrogated them, there was no direct evidence linking her.

As long as she insisted Don acted alone, it couldn't be proven.

Jackson knew continuing the conversation was pointless. He held Lilian close, his eyes icy, and said, "I hope you keep insisting on that."

Susan perceived the  malice in his words, feeling restless.

The Price family was exceptional; not even Jackson could act against her without solid evidence.

"Jackson, I've always treated you like my own child. Now you're trying to pin a murder charge on me, which really breaks my heart."

Tears welled up in Susan's eyes.

"If you have evidence, have the police arrest me anytime. Otherwise, I have nothing more to say."

Star also wiped her tears. She walked over to Lilian, bowed deeply, and pleaded sincerely.

"Lilian, I'm sorry. My mom has been looking for me for years, trying to make up for everything. Don must have misunderstood my mom's intentions. You're a mother too; you understand a mother's love..."

Lilian looked at Star mockingly.

"I would never resort to murder to help my child! Cruelty is cruelty, and a murderer is a murderer. Don't tarnish the word 'motherly love'!"

Lilian let out a cold laugh.

Star's face turned pale, and she shook her head, crying.

"Lilian, you have a deep misunderstanding of me and my mom. You might not know this, but my body is damaged, and I'll never have my own baby. But I know Jackson's status; he can't be without an heir.

So, if you are really separate from Jackson, your baby will be mine. I'll treat it as my own child. How could I ever..."

Before Star could finish, Lilian slapped her hard.

Star stumbled and fell, covering her face as she looked up.

"Lilian?"

"Whether you can have children or not is your business. Don't even think about my child!"

"That's not what I meant... Jackson?" Star cried and looked at Jackson, seeking comfort.
