Chapter 415 Her Last Chance

After hanging up with Lillian, Shirley quickly changed out of her costume, grabbed her bag without even removing her makeup, and rushed out of the dressing room.

Unexpectedly, she bumped into Gray, who had just finished a scene. Seeing her about to leave, Gray frowned. "Where are you going?"

"My performance is done for today. I can go wherever I want," Shirley snapped, rolling her eyes and trying to walk past him.

Gray grabbed her wrist and said, "No. I have a bed scene tonight, so you can't leave."

Shirley gritted her teeth. She had always wondered why the lead actress didn't have a stand-in for kissing scenes.

Why was Gray so picky about this and insisted on a stand-in for the lead actress?

After filming a kissing scene last time, she understood why. Gray was a jerk.

In a simple, romantic kissing scene, just a few lip kisses could trigger Gray's physical reaction.

No wonder he wanted Shirley as a stand-in. He was probably worried that after the kissing scene, the lead actress might report him for workplace sexual harassment.

He could only use someone like Shirley, who had no money, power, resources, or support, as a scapegoat to cover up his desires.

"I'm busy. Figure it out yourself," Shirley said, twisting her wrist free and giving him a push on the shoulder.

Gray staggered a few steps, steadied himself, and looked back. Shirley was already walking away.

He sneered, staring at Shirley's petite back, and said, "The role of the fourth actress isn't that important. Finding a replacement is easy."

It was a blatant threat. Shirley stopped abruptly, turned around, and saw Gray smirking at her.

She wanted to kick him but didn't have the courage to handle such a situation.

Shirley suddenly put on a fake smile and said, "It's an honor to serve you. I'll be there on time for your bed scene tonight."

Only then did Gray wave her off and enter his private dressing room.

An hour later, Shirley dropped Lillian off at the Peace Mansion.

On the way, Lillian told Shirley all about Star and Jackson's proposal.

She looked at Shirley and asked, "Shirley, would you be my bridesmaid?"

Shirley didn't want to dampen her spirits but was genuinely worried, so she hesitated and asked, "Lillian, do you really think it's appropriate to have a wedding now? Does Jackson truly love you? This Star is a fake, so he surely would reject Susan. But what if the real Star is found in the future?"

She was really worried that Lillian might act impulsively and end up with nothing. Ultimately, the one who would be most hurt would be Lillian.

Lillian, maintaining her smile, held Shirley's hand and said, "Shirley, thank you for telling me this. I actually understand. There are still too many uncertainties between us.

However, I've loved Jackson deeply and sincerely for over ten years. Even after waiting so long and getting hurt so much, I still love him. Am I useless? But if love could be stopped at will, if it could avoid harm, then it probably wouldn't be true love. This wedding is my last chance for myself. If I win, I'll give Taylor a complete family and fulfill my most beautiful dream. If I lose, it's okay. I'll finally wake up completely. That's pretty good, right?"

Lillian had a relieved smile, her eyes clear and determined.

Shirley looked at Lillian, her throat choked up, not knowing what to say for a moment.

Lillian knew she might get hurt but still went ahead without hesitation. Maybe that was true love.

"Alright. Be my bridesmaid, okay?" Lillian said, leaning over and hugging Shirley, acting coy.

Shirley's eyes welled up with tears, and she patted Lillian's back and said, "You silly. Okay!"

Shirley just hoped that this time Jackson wouldn't let Lillian down. After all these years of emotional entanglement, she also hoped they would have a happy ending.

But if Jackson hurt Lillian again, she would probably be truly heartbroken.
