Chapter 654

Jackson barely had time to react when he felt a bunch of angry stares coming his way from outside the elevator. The temperature seemed to drop a few degrees, and he shivered.

Oberon's face turned dark. He always thought Jackson was a lousy husband, hanging out with another woman while his wife was kidnapped and in labor.

Before, Oberon didn't get involved because it wasn't his business. But now that he knew Lillian was his granddaughter, he wanted to rip Jackson apart.

He hadn't even confronted Jackson yet, and here he was, trying to fool his sweet, innocent granddaughter again!

Oberon stepped forward, grabbed Jackson's arm, and yanked him out of the elevator, yelling, "You're divorced, but you still won't leave her alone? What kind of behavior is this? The Frane Family is one of the top families in Miracalia, and you're acting like a fool!"

He had grabbed Jackson's burned arm.

In his anger, he squeezed harder, causing Jackson intense pain. Cold sweat broke out on Jackson's back as Oberon dragged him out of the elevator.

Lillian instinctively followed, reminding him, "Grandpa Oberon, his arm is burned."

The next second, she felt Jackson's intense gaze on her.

Lillian turned her head away, frowning slightly.

Seeing her avoid him, Jackson curved his lips into a slight smile. The pain he felt seemed worth it.

Oberon, however, was even more furious, feeling betrayed.

But it didn't matter. Though Lillian was naive and easily deceived by the Franes, from now on, with her family protecting her, Jackson would suffer every time he tried to bother her!

"What's the big deal if a man gets a little hurt? Can't I even touch him? I think he knows you're soft-hearted and kind, pretending to deceive you," Oberon said angrily, looking down to see blood seeping through Jackson's hospital gown from the arm he was holding, looking quite serious.

Jackson's handsome face was pale, his forehead covered in cold sweat.

It was clearly a burn. Oberon let go of his hand, frowning. "Could it be that you were the one who saved my wife just now?"

When Oberon and the others arrived at the hospital, they heard Flora had been burned and was being treated.

They went to the burn unit to understand the situation and knew someone had saved Flora, but didn't know who. They were planning to find this kind young man.

Jackson, holding his arm, nodded slightly to Oberon. "It was me."

Oberon felt like he had swallowed a fly, glaring at Jackson with disdain. "Why you? Bad luck."

As he spoke, he wiped the hand that had grabbed Jackson on Layla's clothes.

Jackson and Lillian remained silent.

Oberon didn't notice Jackson's darkened face, turning to Lillian with a loving and gentle smile, his voice kind. "Lillian, since he got hurt saving your Grandma Flora, we can't just leave him. Ambrose and I will accompany him for treatment. You're weak, and go back to the ward with Flora."

Jackson immediately turned to look at Lillian.

Of course, he hoped Lillian would stay with him. It was a rare chance to spend some time with her.

Lillian didn't even glance at Jackson, completely ignoring him. She nodded to Oberon right away.

"Okay, I'll listen to you, Grandpa Oberon," Lillian said, helping Flora to the elevator.

Seeing Lillian so obedient, Oberon felt his heart soften, and he smiled broadly, "You can just call me Grandpa!"

Lillian was a bit taken aback, while Anouk, standing nearby, bit her lip.

Anouk felt Oberon was also caught up in Flora's confusion, suddenly treating Lillian like she was precious.

"Grandpa, your enthusiasm might scare Lillian," Anouk said, walking over and holding Oberon's arm. "Grandpa, I'll come with you too."

She unintentionally blocked Oberon's view of Lillian by the elevator.

Oberon glanced at her but didn't say anything, then suddenly instructed Ambrose, "Ambrose, take your grandmother and Lillian back to the ward."

Ambrose nodded, while Anouk frowned, not wanting to give Ambrose and Lillian a chance to be alone.

Plus, she had just had an unpleasant encounter with Lillian in the ward. Who knew what that bitch Lillian would tell Ambrose?

"Grandpa, Jackson's injury looks serious. Let Ambrose help him, and we'll go together," Anouk suggested.

Oberon used to think Anouk was fine except for being spoiled and petty, after all, she was his only granddaughter.

But now, knowing she was a fake, he found her noisy, lacking insight, and overly cunning.

He glanced at Anouk, pulling his hand from her grip. "If you think his injury is serious, you help him. I'm strong and don't need support."

Anouk was suddenly pushed away, her expression slightly stunned.

But being spoiled by Oberon, she didn't think much, her mind turning, and she really walked toward Jackson.

She liked Ambrose, but even though Ambrose was good to her, he never let her cross the line.

She had once deliberately gotten close to other men to make Ambrose jealous, and he didn't react at all.

But Jackson was different, incomparable to those men.

Anouk believed that getting close to a distinguished man like Jackson would make Ambrose react. And if it could also provoke Lillian, even better.

Moreover, when Anouk looked closely at Jackson's handsome face, her heart skipped a beat.

Even if it wasn't to provoke Lillian and Ambrose, she didn't mind getting close to a man like Jackson, even feeling a bit excited.

If Ambrose didn't appreciate her, marrying into the Frane Family in Miracalia would be great too. Jackson's background, status, and wealth were superior to Ambrose's.

She had always compared herself within the Seaspring Valley City circle; now she should broaden her horizons.

"Mr. Frane, can I call you Jackson? Wipe your sweat first, and I'll help you find a doctor," Anouk said, taking a wet wipe from her bag and handing it to Jackson with a sweet smile.

Her voice was so soft. Jackson didn't take it, instinctively looking at Lillian. He wanted to see if Lillian would remain indifferent when another woman showed him attention.

But seeing Lillian standing there indifferently, not even glancing at him, more detached than indifferent, Jackson felt his wound burn painfully again.

At that moment, the elevator dinged open.

Lillian immediately helped Flora and said, "Let's go; we'll go back to the ward first."
