Chapter 198 End
Lillian's hands clenched suddenly at the edge of the bed.
Her breathing became erratic for a moment. Her gaze at Jackson was without a hint of a smile but with a deeper intensity.
Lillian gently but firmly shook her head and smiled, saying, "I've grown up and won't so easily get fooled anymore. Stop it."
She pushed away Jackson's large hand on her face, stood up, and added, "I'm going to call Lyra. I still have work in the afternoon. So do you, I suppose."
She walked quickly towards the door. Jackson had just placed his phone on the low cabinet by the door.
Lillian didn't dare look back at Jackson's expression, feeling a bit confused. She wasn't sure whether she hoped he would stop her and say something to make her stay or was afraid that she couldn't control herself to turn back and agree with him.
However, she had overestimated her importance in his heart. She made the call, and Jackson didn't say a word.
Perhaps his earlier words were just casual.
Lillian hung up the phone, and Lyra had Peggy open the door.
"Mrs. Lyra Frane is waiting downstairs," Peggy said.
Lillian and Jackson went downstairs together. Lyra saw them coming down together and immediately sized them up.
Seeing the expressions of the two, Lyra felt tension.
Didn't they reconcile?
"Jackson, have you coaxed Lillian? Have you apologized?" Lyra frowned and waved at Lillian.
Lillian went over, held Lyra's hand, and sat down beside her, saying, "Lyra, Jackson has coaxed me and apologized to me. I have forgiven him. Jackson didn't intentionally ignore me that day. I really don't blame him anymore."
"Are you two reconciled?"
Lyra looked at the two again.
Could it be that they had reconciled but were just too embarrassed to show it?
Lillian glanced at Jackson. Jackson's expression was cold as he sat on the nearby single sofa.
He said to Lyra, "Lyra, you don't need to worry about it. Even if we divorce, she is still a member of the Frane family."
At Jackson's words of "a member of the Frane family," Lillian went soft.
She wanted to cry, tears almost falling.
Her earlier determination to divorce was to return to her position as his sister.
Now that she had finally achieved that, she should be happy, but what she felt inside was more bitterness.
However, she maintained a smiling face and nodded. "Yes, Lyra."
"What? Why do you want to divorce when everything is fine? I disagree! No way!" Lyra growled.
Lillian quickly tried to calm Lyra down, saying, "Lyra, Jackson and I have discussed about this. We both think divorce is better, and we hope you can respect our decision."
Jackson looked at Lillian's cheerful smile, a hint of sarcasm flashing in his eyes. His knuckles on the wooden armrest of the sofa slightly cracked due to his force.
"No! Jackson, say something! Lillian is young and impulsive. What about you? Are you out of your mind? Are you trying to piss me off?" Lyra glared at Jackson angrily, but Jackson looked at Lillian.
And Lillian looked back toward him, appearing somewhat nervous. He thought she might be afraid that he might change his mind again, blocking her path to freedom.
As Lyra was so furious, Lillian was still relentless. She was so determined to divorce.
He and the Frane family had become a shackle imprisoning her, making it difficult for her to show her true self. Why would he force her?
Jackson said in a deep voice, "Lyra, she's not a child anymore. She knows what she's doing, and no one can stop her. I have an important meeting in the afternoon. I'm going back to the company."
"You can't just leave without explaining. Come back!" Lyra angrily slammed the sofa, but Jackson didn't look back.
His tall figure quickly disappeared at the entrance, his back looking aloof and impatient.
Lillian lowered her eyelashes, and her right hand clenched the candies in her pocket.
Their story began with a candy from many years ago.
And now it ended with these candies. Could this be considered a complete ending?
It was fine.
