Chapter 335 Stand-in
The two of them talked as they walked out of Serenity Haven Manor together and approached the car.
Jackson took two steps forward and personally opened the backseat door for the woman, thoughtfully raising his hand to shield the car roof.
The woman bent down to get in the car, seeming to pause for a moment, then looked up and said something to Jackson.
Jackson looked down at her, nodded, and a gentle smile played on his thin lips.
In that instant, they were very close.
If either of them had made a move, it seemed like they could have kissed.
After the woman got in the car, Jackson followed her into the backseat as well. It was rare for Jackson to be this close to someone.
The car quickly drove away, disappearing from Lillian's sight.
Lillian remained in the driver's seat, gripping the steering wheel, staring straight ahead, motionless.
Her body felt like an ice sculpture, emanating coldness from the inside out, as if any slight movement would shatter her into pieces.
She had seen that Jackson had indeed hidden a woman in the house she had personally decorated!
How could he be so cruel?
It wasn't until the car window was tapped twice that Lillian snapped back to reality, breathing heavily.
After a moment, she slowly looked out the window.
Wendy was standing outside, bending over and peering through the car window, motioning for Lillian to roll it down.
Lillian slowly lowered the window, and Wendy looked at her with a mocking smile, saying, "Lillian, the expression on your face right now is priceless, worse than crying! You're pale as sheet."
Lillian knew how pathetic and ridiculous she looked right now.
Her face turned cold, and she looked back with equal mockery, retorting, "Anyone can laugh at me, but you don't have the right to do it. After all, you're so unappealing and ended up with nothing."
"Lillian!" Wendy's face twisted with anger as she shouted.
However, she quickly composed herself, a smile creeping in as she continued, "Lillian, don't you want to know who that woman was? I can tell you, but whether you want to come along is up to you."
Wendy gave Lillian a meaningful smile and then walked towards another car hidden nearby.
She got in and drove away.
Lillian closed her eyes for a moment, then slowly started her car and followed.
Half an hour later, at a café, the two sat across from each other.
Wendy stirred her coffee, admiring Lillian's pale face as she said, "Lillian, you really shouldn't have come back. It was so much better abroad. Now you know you're just a pathetic stand-in. I feel heartbroken for you. Jackson just now..."
"I don't look anything like that woman," Lillian interrupted Wendy.
From a distance, Lillian hadn't seen the woman's face clearly.
But judging by her figure, she and the woman were very different.
"Who said you have to look alike to be a stand-in?" Wendy took a sip of her coffee and then slowly continued, "Lillian, have you never considered Jackson's cruel and heartless nature? Even if someone died in front of him, if they were in the way, he would kick them aside. Why did Jackson bring you back to the Frane family and treat you so well from the beginning when Max knelt at the Frane family's door, begging him to take you in that year? Do you think you're special? Lillian, you can't still naively believe that someone would be good to another person for no reason, can you?"
Wendy slammed her coffee cup on the table and mocked, "He was good to you because of that woman. He treated you as her stand-in! Lillian, think about it. What makes you so special that he would treat you that way? If it weren't for the coincidence of being a stand-in, you are just an ordinary person who should have died at the hands of your biological father, Bob!"
